Wow.. We're going to miss A LOT of good and potential characters.. Though I guess some of the newer ones have got the same possible potential just waiting to be used.

Woah! Is Sonic delivering these previews now or what?! We're barely reaching July, and we already have the covers and solicitation for Sonic #278:

Sonic278.jpg?w=630&cdnnode=1Sonic278var.jpg?w=630&cdnnode=1

SONIC's planet-wide chase CONTINUES! "Face of the Enemy" Part One: Sonic, Antoine and Big head to Shamar to rescue another Gaia Key Guardian! They're calling in the reinforcements and getting some help from the local Freedom Fighters-but will that really be enough to get past the fearsome Egg Army? Then, in "Hidden Costs" Part Two: Get ringside seats to Bunnie vs. Cassia. It's the can't-miss Cyborg fight of the century! Featuring cover art by jamming Jamal Peppers and a "Maniacal" variant By CG artist Rafa Knight!

More key-hunting, pretty much. Though maybe there'll be some surprises in store. And Bunnie taking on Cassia? Hehe, now this is gonna be fun...

I hope they make good on Amy and Knuckles going to search for Master Emerald shards together. I'd be pretty disappointed if they didn't get their own storylines for that in STH or SU.

Just wanna drop this into the thread ~

There are some kind of cool arguments on that blog or thread and mostly I agree.

That's how I feel inside when i remember the comic's past and all that was lost.

And that's how I feel when I remember the cause of it.

But then I remember the comic still exists, and it's better than having it cancelled.  :)

I'm so in love with that  little ragin german boy in 2:21.

Lol yeah although I think that the Mega Man comics were amazing because they had so much easter-eggs and they are based on the games but have a complete different story in the comics. I really loved the StH Story from StH 230 until Worlds Collide because with Robo-Sally and Antoines coma and the whole Secret Freedom Fighters and Eggmans reign that was totally awesome and heartbreaking. And I couldn't just wait for the next comics. And now it's just like "eh. another comic." I hope it's changing again, because I don't like to see that the comics are running through the gamestoryline like Sonic Unleashed.

Look, it's not changing. At all. If you don't like it, then there's not much they can do about that. That 'article' seemed like it might have some decent points in it, but then it just semms to turn towards "SONALLY CAN'T HAPPEN, WORST COMIC EVER!" which irritates the hell out of me.

By that last sentence I was more trying to say: Okay when they are finished with adopting the games with the comics then maybe the comics will take another path. Sorry I forgot to write that down lol. I really like the games of Sonic the Hedgehog, I just feel with the new world the bound with the games and the comics are more together and stronger. Like take an example of the Marvel comics and the movies. The movies take the basics of the comic-storyline but are creating something complete different and it's kinda like his own universe which I much appreciated because you get another point of view.

That one adaption I was really hoping for was a Sonic 06 one. Yes through flames at me but think about it if 06 story was that bad then they can try to explain it better.

But I guess they wanted to skip that because I guess Sega want to put the past behind them. (ShadTH Reference)

By this point, I feel that Sonic Archie is like that little unlucky kid in a JRPG who wants to prove himself, but got criticized and betrayed to the point he becomes physically and mentally torned up, yet he still insists to go on as he believes in a better future.

Penders incident is exaggerated by this point, and I don't like it because it isn't even the comic's fault it had to reset. Sure, they could have done it better, but the new universe is not even that bad.

I, for one, have enough patiant to wait for the comic to develop and prove itself worthy. Until then, I hope everybody can finally stop b*tching about Ken Penders.

It'll never happen. The internet is just too volatile and are happy to jump at any reminders

But I have to say, I like that analogy of yours for the comic!

TBH Arek, I think that analogy can almost be applied to the Sonic franchise as a whole, not just the comics.

I been wanting that for the longest but unto the comic ends are something good come out of this people will continue to talk bad about ken penders into the end of time. Well unto they die and then some people will be like "Oh I'm so sorry." or "He was a good man".

Hello! I'm very new to the fandom, this site, and the comics, though the two Sonic wikias have helped me through most things I didn't understand, except one.

I've only just started reading from the first StH comic, and after twelve issues, I'm kind of seeing a pattern. Nothing really happens. It's all just SNL-like skits with no real rhyme or reason that have very hit-and-miss jokes. But when I look at the articles summarizing the series, it seems like some really amazing stuff happens.

Is there some sudden turning point where the comic becomes more focused and has a story, or am I missing something here?

All the early comics were more jokey and without a storyline. Storylines do come later don't worry. You just need to push through or pass it (though some passed stuff does get mentioned in future issues)

The early comics are pretty much just silly stories.  Issue 17, the second story, is where it starts getting serious and the storyline really starts, though it flip-flops from silly to serious until the mid-40's.  But a lot is introduced between 17 and 40 so skipping is hard to advise.

Thanks. I was about to lose it. I can stand the unrelated stories, but the humor... GAH! Some of it makes you want to punch Sonic in his smug little face, while other jokes make you laugh for thrity minutes. It really leaves me wondering what mindset the writers wre in. Like they had inspiration occasionally for good humor, but when that inspiration didn't come, they just made up some crappy gag and moved along their merry way.

To some extent it feels like although they were using the characters from Sonic SatAM, they were trying to use a more AoSTH feel to it and only later decided that it wasn't working out for them

My personal theory was that to start off with they were just churning out a simple kiddies comic to make a profit and not really caring about the franchise.  Then as they were planning Issue 17 someone went 'Hey... what if we tried DOING something with this!'

Just a question. Do you mean the Sonic Network Wikia and the Archie Sonic Wikia?

When I was starting to read the comics I began with 225 and in the time I go back and I saw the old design and the old storyline. Maybe it was funny in the past or was filled with action but how a comic is written has now completely changed.

You see around StH 190 -239 that everything is more complex. Eggman is not the main antagonist anymore and there are many other villains who are trying to beat Sonic and that's really awesome and makes the comic really interesting. But when you look back in the StH Comics 1 to 50 you see the basics of heroism: Robotnik captured friends of Sonic and Sonics love Sally and Sonic rescuing her and everyone is happy again. I think it all started in the Endgame in 50 when Robotnik got beaten and Sonic with him and Eggman is alive.

And for me the definition of a (interesting) story is, when it's not just the basics. For the the "real StH comics" started with StH 168 when Eggman is there and Scouge is comming up as an antagonist but there are also many other guys who wanna kick Sonics butt. For example I really loved to read the Arc when Knothole was burned by Eggman and you really saw that Eggman has the power and Sonic and his team are the group of the revolution. And also I really enjoyed the Arc after the first Genesis Wave and Antoines coma because you saw that Eggman had the upper hand with Mecha Sally and Sonic was just helping people and with his actions to say "Hey Eggman I am still here! And I will always try to beat you whereever you are!"

Before Worlds Collide and the Super Genesis Wave Dr.Eggman was pretty much winning where as Sonic and Friends were only making minor victory like they save someone they know or they stop eggman from doing this but at the end of the day dr.eggman was still winning the war but after the reboot happen they put Sonic and Eggman on equal level or maybe even lower then Sonic to some degree.

I really loved that Eggman was winning all the time and that the small things of the Freedom Fighters helped the people or the Mobians and it was a good moment of piece in a world of terror.

Guys, random question, but are they ever going back to the original dimension (Mobius Prime)? Or is it going to remain in this dimension forever because of Ken Pender's Lawsuit? Im kind of in a crisis because I'm afraid I wont see Julie Su/ the enchidnas ever again!!
