Kim's azurill got hit by the scratch just as it had fired the water gun, causing it to jump back after it's attack was over with.
"Er....keep moving back. It has to get close to attack," said Kim, more of a polite suggestion than anything as her azurill was retreating anyway, clearly flustered by its first fight.

Kim had an excited grin when the attack hit.
"Good job. Now hit him again when you can."
Her azurill quickly hopped back to try and avoid a counterattack, then began to prepare another water gun blast, hoping it wouldn't miss the fennekin.

Kim nodded.
"Azurill, use water gun," she commanded perhaps a little too gently. Still, her Azurill got into position, and began to ready it's blast, eager to win.

Kim nodded and made her way into the closest arena, which appeared to be a medium sized artificial cave. She wandered over to the far side and set her Azurill down, taking a couple steps back.
"Ok Danny, ready when you are."

Kim stuck her hand out to Danny, a big smile on her face.
"Hi! I'm Kim, you're Danny, right? Nice to meet you. Isn't this exciting"
Scabbard Town
Having chosen route AO1 as a good place to start, Robert got his Totodile to go into his pokeball for the trip then set off in that direction at a light jogging pace, being in no particular rush. As he began his journey he couldn't help but feel a little excited at the thought of "adventuring", knowing that it'd be a long while before he had to return to his usual job back home.

Kim started to wander over as well, her Azurril right behind her. Given it was just a training match she was still fairly relaxed about the whole thing.

"Then I guess I should get to it, thank you Jenny. I'll be sure to get you something good, bye for now," replied Robert before hanging up.
"Right, I better take a look at the map and find a good place for easy recruitment," he thought to himself.

Kim smiled when she heard who her azurril would go up against, glancing at Daniel's fennekin.
"You hear that? You've got an advantage for this one with your water gun," she said to her Pokemon as she put him down on the floor.

Back in the research centre lobby, Robert was at a payphone talking to Jenny.
"Yes I've got my new Pokemon. They're a little lively but I'm sure we'll get on fine if I'm half as good a trainer as you."
"That's great. Oh that reminds me, if you can get me something to replace her I have a Growlithe I can let you have once you're qualified for it," replied Ranger Jenny down the phone.
