Skye thought and shook his head.

"Nah. Mwiley mwakes hwim un... un... uncomwfortwable. I know! Scwourge!

(ooc: yeah. It just kinda got ingrained on her thanks to Dylan!)

"I hope not. But a good night sleep should solve any issues, unless your really far gone." Melody turned the page in the book.

"I've already shown you illusions and transformation spells, and it's obvious what they are. For your illusion spell I'll make it a decoy one. Concentrate on an object, item, person or whatever, and a copy of them will appear wherever you want, that you can see. The copy will either be static, or copy whatever movements the original is doing. But it's just sight. No sounds, touch, smell... and so on," said Melody, waving her hand in the air a bit with the 'so on'.

"And from Transformation, hmm, a simple colour change spell. Though this one will require more effect. Transformation does in general. You can change one colour of whatever you're touching or a part of yourself if you wanted. It's what I used a few minutes ago. It'll last... roughly an hour. However, it can only change one colour, no patterns or stripes or stuff like that. Both of those sound good?"

"I know. I don't get it either, Harmony."

---

"They both sound like fun, yeah."

"Hmm, I wonder what his sister is like then. So far I've only said hello to her," wondered Harmony

----------

"Yeah, they really are," said Melody with a grin. "There's still another..." she paused a moment, "five types of magic to cover, so we can take a break if you want."

"No, I'm alright. Easier to get them written down now then do the practice."

"Okay, let's push on. Summoning and Evocation next. You know what Summoning is, creating an object from thin air. Well, evocation is creating energy from thin air. Well, from magic. That's where your classic fireballs and lightning come from," said Melody with a grin.

"Now, Summoning is a little different. it's one standard spell, that you alter slightly to change how long the object will last. This one will last, hmm, about fifteen minutes. What's important is picturing what you want to summon in your head. And if you know how it's made, it'll be a lot easier, and will probably come out correct. For example, let's say we were of equal power and skill, but both tried to summon a computer. You would find it easier, while mine probably wouldn't work. Just be careful not to think of anything to big or complex, or you'll drain yourself."

Melody took a deep breath and started writing the next spell.

"Now this evocation spell will creating a hovering ball of fire. Think of it like a portable light source, or campfire. But, once you remove the limiting part of the spell, you can make it much hotter, like mobile cutting torch. Or a ball of white hot fire to throw at someone."

Dylan grinned

"They sound pretty cool, especially the summoning one," said Hope eagerly.

"Can you summon a cup of coffee with that?" dryly asked Shadow.

"Gwreat!" Skye leaned over the side of the branch. "Hwey Ziona, cwan we hwave some pwaper and cwrayons?" he asked.

"Yeah, sure thing," said Ziona, creating and handing over some to Skye. Skye gave a happy "Thwanks" then stood up again. "Lwet's stwart!" he said to Dylan with a grin.

----------

"Yep. You've now got a portable toolbox," said Melody. Then she turned to Shadow.

"Actually, yes you could. But as it'd disappear in fifteen minutes, it could give you horrible gas or indigestion," she said with a grin. She turned back to Hope.

"I think i'll let you chose what spells you want to try for the next two types; Divination and Enchantments. Deviation is for sensing things far away, or for finding out where you lost your keys. Or the history of an item. Enchantments, well, that is obvious, but it actually covers curses as well. Mostly mental effects those. Physical effects tend to come under the first type of magic. So, what spells do you want?"

"For divination, something that could mentally show me an object's location would be handy. And enchantments, is there anything that could make a shield around something in case it goes 'poof'?"

Shadow laughed. "Not much different from the coffee here then."

"yep, both of those will be easy enough," said melody, flicking through Skye's note to copy. "Of course, distance and familiarity with the object will be the issue with the divination one. And the forcefield, well, it'll stop something once, then you'd need to cast it again." she looked at Shadow a laughed.

"Maybe that's where they get it. Saves on having to buy coffee beans in."

She turned back to Hope.

"Just one type of magic left then... but... er... actually maybe it's best to leave this one out of it, now I think about it," she said uncomfortably.

'Um... Shouldn't we go inside to start?" Dylan said looking down. "We're a bit high up and if we drop stuff, e would have to climb all the way down and then come all the way up!"

Even whilst he was saying it, Dylan found he didn't really mind the idea, but he did think it would be easier to do it inside

Hope looked at Melody, slightly confused. "What is this type of magic? There's no harm in saying even if you don't put a spell down.'

"Nwothwing wrong with clwimbing, and I lwike it up hwere," said Skye. "Bwut... yweah, we cwould do with a twable or swomethwing. HEY! I've gwot an iwdea!" beagn Skye, not realised his tree house suggestion had already been put forward.

------------

"Uh, well, that would be necromancy," said Melody. "But before you say anything, it's not evil in itself. Just... mostly used that way..."

Dylan looked around

"I like it up here too but a table would be useful. Me a Ziona were thinking about a treehouse! Then we could do it!" He said not realising what Skye's idea was. "What's your idea?"

Skye's ears drooped. "I was gwonna sway twreehouwse too," he said sadly.

------------

"Possibly, but they certainly aren't nice spell. Let's... lets pass on those for now." said Melody.

"That's probably for the best," said Hope. Shadow was pondering what this necromancy could do. The thought of literally raising the dead did not sit well with him.

"Bwut I didn't," said Skye, slumping into a sitting position. "It is a gwood iwdea though, we cwould mwake a rweally gwreat twreehouwse!" he continued, his sadness fading as he thought more about the idea and his excitement grew.

--------------

"Yeah," said Melody with a nod. "But there is one last spell and can give you. A more powerful dispel spell. So if magic does get a little out of hand, you can deal with it."

Melody finished writing the spell with a flourish. "There, finished." She shut the book and held it out to Hope. "Welcome properly to the world of magic!"
