Melody laughed. Transformation must be red because it freaks you out so much. Now, just to make sure you do have the hang of this..." Melody closed her eyes and intoned a spell. Her black fur lightened and changed to a yellow colour similar to Harmony's.

"Have I used an illusion or a transformation?" asked Melody. In case Hope tried to cheat an answer with logic, Melody had cast a transformation spell, as illusions were easier.

"I dunno but it's still more fun for you" he said

Hope concentrated and did the spell again. "I'm seeing... red, so it's transformation?"

Harmony dropped down, looking a little confused. "So are you guys actually trying to kill each other or what? Should I try to slit this guy's throat again, or leave you two to hug?"

"Bang on!" said Melody happily. She caught sight of her reflection in a nearby metal panel and giggled. "I better change back before someone starts asking why Mina is holding a concert at GUN HQ or something, she laughed, snapping her fingers and returning to normal.

"Well, knowing you, I guess you want to do this... what was the phase... in a controlled manner was it? So, how about I go over what the different types of magic are AND..." Melody gave a large grin, "give you a spell or two to try from each type. You'll get your own spellbook. Though, I guess a hi-tech girl like you would prefer a spell PDA or something."

"I think I might." Hope looked through her drawers, trying to remember where she kept spare books. "A ha! Found one," she said triumphantly as she set it on the table.

Harmony's voice was almost horse from her screaming.

"Great, we're all set," said Melody, sitting down. "Don't tell Skye that I borrowed this. He'd kill me," grinned Melody as she pulled out his notebook. "Now, you ready to begin?"

"I... BUT..." Harmony took a deep breath. "Sorry Zamy. I don't like people threatening my family. Even if they are just pretending. And I don't like his attitude either."

"Okay, first I'll write down the spells I've taught you already. The little lights spell and detect magic. Next..." Melody started flicking through Skye's notes. "Oh great, he hasn't written down the name for this magic type. Anyway, it deals with regulating and manipulating life and organic properties. It's not tranmustion, though the two can overlap. It covers stuff like healing spells, boosting yourself or others, that kinda thing. Now... what spell to give you.... A healing one would be difficult to practice unless you keep injuring yourself. A spell to dull pain might be very dangerous if it went wrong. A stamina booster would be difficult to see if it worked or not. Ah!"

Melody looked at Hope. "How about a strength boost spell? I know it might not seem useful, but with all the heavy machines you use it's bound to come in handy sometime. If only to make it easier and less wearing to carry your tools around the lab. Or to bring down a soldier a peg or too by beating him in an arm wrestling contest. Of course, if there's another spell you'd like..."

"I hope not," laughed Anna. "Or I might try and boost my speed even more! At least I can still teleport, even if it is exhausting"

"I told you silly. The tallest tree in the forest. It's, uh.... north-westish from Haven I think. You'll know it, it's big, and Uncle Miles is next to it!" said Ziona over the radio.

"I'm surprised Spark likes him. Spark always seemed such a nice, almost shy guy," said Harmony.

"Cool! Now, you see this bit of the spell I'm underlining? Think of this like a training wheel. It restricts how powerful the spell can be, so if it goes wrong it... hopefully.. won't go horribly wrong. Once you get comfortable with a spell, you can leave it out and practice regulating the magical power yourself. I'll be adding it to some of the other spells as well," explained Melody.

"OOH! And I know another spell you'd like. If you're tired, this one will make it feel like you've had a proper night's sleep, for about twelves hours," said Melody. "But," she said almost sternly, "Don't overuse it. Because despite feeling otherwise you HAVEN'T had a full nights sleep, and it can bring out the worst in you. I've seen Father use this spell to break people. If you want to see the dark side of someone, cast this spell on them for a week." Her tone lightened again. "But used occasionally it can be a godsend!"

Dylan gave some thought

"I dunno. Someone he doesn't like" he said giving some more thought and then smiled. "Maybe Miley? She's evil and he doesn't like her!"
