Despite being role-playing for over a decade, and Sonic Role-Playing for around half that time, one thing I don't have is a definitive Sonic OC for myself. Skye Prower has sorta taken that role. But I felt it was time to have someone else, so here we are. Still keeping the first name of Skye though! I have had art done of her, but this version isn't quite finished yet. And as well as the profile, I've even done a script for an introduction adventure for her. Name: Skye Crystal Age: 18 Gender: Female Species: Fox-Lynx Hybrid Appearance: Skye is slightly shorter than the average Mobian, standing between the fox and lynx of her mixed heritage. She mostly resembles a fox, however she has the same face markings as a lynx. Her ears are longer and thinner than a foxes (or thicker and shorter than a lynx’s) and end with the same dark tufts as a lynx. Skye’s fur is a gingery orange colour, while her hair is a slight shade darker and redder. It reaches down around her mid back, mostly straight with a very slight wave in it. She has a single thick front fringe, though it’s slightly messy and sticks out in bits. As she usually has her goggles pushed up on her forehead, this keeps her fringe off her face. Her eyes are a turquoise colour, as are the crystals, force fields, and her magic. As well as her gauntlets, goggles, satchel and quiver, she wears a dull green jacket with a darker green trim. Usually open, but closed depending on the weather (and the censors!). She also wears a pair of shorts in the same colours. Skye goes barefoot. Alignment: Good Profession: Wanderer Powers/Abilities: Skye’s abilities, such as speed, agility, resilience, intelligence etc, are all above the Mobian average, but not by any significant degree (With the exception of her common sense which can be lacking). For example, if abilities were rated on a 1 to 10 scale, with 3 being average, and 9 being say Tails’ IQ or Mighty’s strength, Skye would have 4 and 5’s across the board. Slight Magic – Skye has a very slight magical talent, able to manipulate it to create a few small sparks, but that’s about it. She could maybe create a constant light if she focused. Archery – She is a decent shot with a bow, but certainly no Rob O’Hedge/Legolas/Hawkeye etc Close combat– With her natural abilities and her gauntlets, Skye is capable in close combat. But she lacks any real skill in fighting, so a skilled opponent would not find her a challenging foe. Artificer – Her main ability. Skye is able to use prepared crystals to store some of her magical energy, and then use these crystals as a power source. And she became quite skilled in building small/medium inventions using these power crystals. However, being magic, the power can be unstable, and these devices could have side effects, have a chance of overloading, or simply not work. The exception being the devices that produce energy fields, as Skye has now worked out (most of) the kinks in those systems. Because of the unusual power source, and the fact that Skye doesn’t actually know the basics of electronics, these inventions of hers would not work with any regular power source. Skye’s goal is to one day be able to build robots of her own, though she currently lacks the skills to do so, Weapons/Equipment: Bow – Her main weapon. This bow has an energy forcefield ‘string’ and can either create its own force bolts (which loose power the further they travel) or can fire regular arrows if needed. Gauntlets – Skye wears a pair of gauntlets, each capable of projecting force fields of various shapes, allowing her to create shields or simple weapons. They also have a built in grapple hook. (I’m a sucker for grapple hooks!) Goggles – A pair of goggles used when Skye’s working on her inventions, which she wears pushed up on her forehead the rest of the time. While they are regular work goggles, the right side has an attached lens which can fold down to assist Skye in aiming her bow. Multitool – A penknife by any other name, which can project small forcefields to act a blades, screwdrivers, clippers, files, etc etc. Satchel – A simple tool satchel, which hold Skye’s tools, spare power crystals, and a few other gadgets. Most are kept inside the satchel, but her Multitool is slotted into a pocket on the side. Quiver - A small quiver worn on her back with a handful of arrows that have different specialised heads. Personality: At first Skye is very shy and awkward around those she doesn’t know. However, around her friends, on her own, or if anyone shows even the slightest interest in her inventions, Skye is very enthusiastic and talkative. She is also slightly naive about how the world operates. This also extends into wanting to be a hero like others, but her enthusiasm can get her into trouble. However, she will defer to those who are more knowledgeable or skilled than she is. The exception is regarding her inventions and experiments, where she will be pretty stubborn about what she is doing, moreso if there is any implication that what she is doing is risky. While she enjoys puzzles, Skye can miss an obvious solution while trying to work on a more complex one. She can also panic if out of her depth without someone to help her. She also has a slight temper, which is under control most of the time. Unless someone makes fun of her inventions. Background: (Note – This background is designed to be flexible enough to fit into any version of the Sonic franchise, though it may result in a few tweaks) Skye’s home was an isolated forest village, where the inhabitants had chosen to live a ‘technology free’, almost tribal lifestyle. They weren’t isolationists, at least, prior to Dr Robotnik/Eggman, and would welcome in other Mobian’s who wished to live a technology free life. Most of the inhabitants were Lynx’s, but many other species were present. While they don’t have any technology, many of the Lynx’s have developed a talent for magic. A unique aspect her is the storage of magic in small prepared crystals, almost creating magical batteries. These tend to be used to enhance spellcasting, or simple illumination. Skye was born with a slight aptitude for magic. She could fill a crystal, and cast a simple light spell, but that was it. But what Skye was drawn to were the bits and pieces of technology that sometimes were found around the village. They were almost always broken, but Skye developed a fascination for them, wondering how they worked. At first, the villagers allowed her to collect them, seeing it as a phase she would grow out of. But Skye didn’t. She spend more and more time with her collection, taking them apart and trying to understand how they worked and put them back together. Then one day, she realised what was missing was a power source. She charged up a crystal, and with some work, was able to get the device running again. Proud of what she had done, Skye showed it to the village. Only to be cast out, for using the village’s technique to fuel the very technology they despised. Now, Skye has been left on her own to wander, and to build. She has managed to create more devices, and she is starting to learn about the wider world she’s found herself in. The one thing she has learned is about the various heroes who help defend the world from evil, like something from the campfire stories she listen too as a child. And Skye wants to be one of them. Introduction Adventure For anyone who wishes to read it, her is a link to Skye Crystal Origins - Heroes and Monsters.

"So why exclude them?" asked the Voice. "Sawah?" asked Stacey loudly. Ziona landed smoothly, trying not to seem ammused and Zangooses fumbled attempt. "Are you alright?" she asked.
-
How did you pull that off? Is it that easy, or you that skilled?
-
Can staff take part?
-
"So is everyone you know," laughed the Voice. "We wiww!" Stacey nodded, heading to the hatch. "Cwoming Sawah?" Ziona jumped out of the jet just after Seviper.

Another RP Poll, this one is for everyone

And from a neck and neck it's pretty clear now what peoples preferences are! -
A purely hypothetical questions and of course not in any way linked to the recent suggestions thread.... *innocent look* *clears throat* So.... speaking purely academically, say there was a new RP that would be open to the whole forum that would be easy to join in or leave at any point. Somewhere between an RPM and one of the more serious RP's. Obviously, it would be a Sonic RP as we are a Sonic site, but which version of the Sonic franchise should it be? Given our links with the comics, one of the Archie continuities would make sense. The Pre-Boot comes with a lot of built in lore and a detailed world, and has a strong fanbase. However, that same lore can make it daunting for newcomers. If this was a setting chosen, there would likely be a timeskip before the game started to resolve the dangling plot threads, so the stage if free for new adventures, rather than being forced to finish old ones. Pre-boot is somewhat more accessible, as it can be thought of as 'the game world but with more characters'. There's less heavy lore to worry about, though the groundwork for the world has been laid. On the other hand, due to the circumstances that brought it about, there are those who do not care for it. There's the simple options of just following the games, but those are a lot lighter (and often contradictory) on lore and world-building. And of course, there's the new IDW comics. But this has the same flaws as the Games world at the moment, and in addition, anything that gets added to the comics could contradict something in an RP set in that world. Finally, there are a number of other universes out there, most obviously being the various TV shows and the Fleetway comics. So, if you want a say just cast your vote, and you can vote for multiple options. Of course, like I said, it's just hypothetical... honest.... *shuffles feet nervously*

In my defence, it was very early am in the morning, so I missed that part. Sorry!

It sounds like an intriguing idea. I'd be interested in seeing it. Though... I hope you are asking around elsewhere. At the moment, there's not really ten active posters in total here!

Wow! That's a sudden jump! Thanks for taking part! -
For those of you interested in RPing, could you please look at the topic here: https://en-forums.sonicscanf.org/topic/859-another-rp-poll-this-one-is-for-everyone/ . Which may or may not have something to do with the soon to be happening reformatting of the site.

Lol! Was it tastie food? Votes help, but I prefer opinions and discussion. -
My suggestions for a layout change - Keep Site Discussion, Sonic the Hedgehog and Misc Sections mostly as they are. Create a new Section called 'Creative Corner' or similar which will contain the Sonic Fan Works, the General Art Thread, and the Writers Block. Create another new section for the Role-Playing games, which will contain the Role-Player games section, the Free-Play Section, and the Role-Play Games Zone, plus some renaming to make things more clear. Move Party Games into Misc.

"Why not?" asked the Voice. Stacey looked between Mark and Ally and smiled. "Dwun' wowwy!" We cwan dwo thwis!" he insisted. "You're spoiling your niece!" Ziona winked at Zangoose. Skye took the jet in close to the ground, opening the hatch. "I'll stay in the air to provide cover. And a getaway if we need it."

"Uh, Doctor, you might want to see thing," Orbot informed Eggman. The doctor looked at the screen, seeing what appeared to be Tails swooping towards his base. "Gah! What's that two-tailed brat doing here. And where he is, Sonic won;t be far behind...," groaned Eggman. "Orbot, move our forces to intercept him. And maybe I'll need to use our hostages." "All robots are moving towards..." began Orbot, only to give a cry of surprise as a bright light seemed to emanate from Tails, and all the camera feeds died. "What was THAT?" screamed Eggman. "I don;t know. But we've lost all cameras... and communication," reported Orbot. ----------- "One of those foxes seemed to know how... maybe both of them," replied the Voice. "You can do it," smiled Ziona, giving Seviper a kiss. "I hope.... oh! There's our cue!" said Skye, pointing towards a bright flash in the distance. "Alright, everybody out!"

Skye, Feral Forest “T-thanks,” gasped Skye as the robot hands were torn away from her, allowing her to breathe again. She glanced at the prone body, seeing a small trickle of blood dripping from the broken armoured plates. “There…. There’s another one,” she tried to warn as the robot Fisher tried to grab Mighty from behind. --------- Sleet and Dingo, the Manticore The windows were showing nothing but a white void as the Manticore ploughed through the cloudbank. “It’s pretty out there!” commented Dingo, staring out the window. “It’s safer too. With any luck no one noticed our escape aside from those Rogues,” said Sleet, checking the intruments and adjusting their course. “Where are we heading now? We got more work?” Dingo asked. “New Mobotropolis,” came the short reply. Dingo looked surprised. “But they don’t like us there. And they never have work,” Dingo pointed out. “I know Dingo. But the Kingdom is the largest and most powerful nation. And if this ‘Doctor Robotnik’ considers the Battle Bird Armada to be nothing more than a diversion, there’s good odds he’ll come after the Kingdom soon. And they may be grateful in their rewards for a warning.” --------- Wave and Tails, Midair For a few moments, Wave could only stare at the buckling Armada ship as it started to descend. “Storm? Were are you?” called Wave as she turned to look around. A curse escaped her as she spotted him, still in the hanger, holding on precariously. “HOLD ON STORM! I’M COMING!” she cried out. Swooping down, Wave thought she spotted some others in the hangers, and someone who wasn’t part of the BBA. But that wasn’t important. Getting Storm was before… An explosion burst from the hull next to the hanger, almost catching Wave. She swerved wildly, then looked back. Storm was gone, as was the whole hanger floor where he’d been just a moment before. “Strom? STORM?” Wave shouted, looking around frantically. But there was no sign of him. The explosion must have….. Tears started to drift down her cheeks as she turned away and tried to put as much distance between her and the falling airship as possible. Her Extreme Gear shuddered. She turned her head, seeing some smoke trailing from it. The explosion must have damaged it. Then something else caught her eye. It wasn’t a piece of falling debris. It looked like a kid. How did they get up here? Wave dived as fast as she could, quickly closing the gap between her and the little, as she could now see, fox. “Got you Kid!” Wave gasped relieved as she caught the little fox close to the broiling sea below. Seeing a nearby shoreline, Wave set off towards it. “W-who… who are you?” Tails asked in shock and surprised. Grateful at being rescued, but scared at the armoured figure. There was no response, but Tails was grateful as the landed on the beach, and he feet finally found solid ground again. The young fox turned back towards his rescuer, and gasped in surprise as Wave removed her helmet. “You’re a girl?” Tails exclaimed in surprise. Wave blinked in surprise, the rolled her eyes. “Great deduction Shorty,” she snapped back. Having lost her friend, she wasn’t exactly feeling up to playing along with this kid. She turned her back on him, taking out some tool and getting to work fixing her damaged board. “H-hey! I’m not that short!” Tails complained. He was about to say more, but seeing Wave working, his voice faded and he just stared. “You… you can fix it?” he asked, a note of awe creeping into his voice. “Of course I can Shorty,” replied Wave, half distracted. But she noticed the change of tone, and looked round to see the little fox staring. And as she started back, she saw the fox had… a second tail? Weird. “That’s amazing!” Tails exclaimed. Wave couldn’t help but smile. Which quickly faded as Tails rushed over, a barrage of technical questions accompanying him. Sighing, Wave answered them as quickly as possible before finishing her work. She turned her Gear back on, and it hummed quietly, hovering without any trace of smoke. Looks like it was fixed. Tails looked at the hovering board in amazement, then at Wave with a similar look. “Can… can I come with you?” he asked. Wave turned in surprise. “Me? Don’t you have a family to get home to?” she asked. “No… I never had a family…” Tails admitted, looking down. Wave sighed. She didn’t want to leave the kid, but then, if anyone had seen her go Rogue… or if those bounty hunters talked… she couldn’t have a kid in tow. “Sorry Shorty, what I’m doing is pretty dangerous,” she replied. It wasn’t a lie after all. But as soon as she said it, she saw how crushed the kid looked. And scared. “You’ll be fine here. You’ve got food and fresh water, and shelter on this island,” she pointed out. It didn’t seem to help. “Here…” she handed the fox a small radio. “If you get into real trouble, you can call me on this.” “R-really?” asked Tails, taking the radio wide eyed. “Maybe… once the dangerous stuff is done, I could come with you then! I wanna… I wanna… do what you do!” There was a slight note of desperation in Tails’ voice and face that Wave was surprised to note. “We’ll see Shorty…” Wave replied, jumping on her board and setting off. Why did she feel so bad? That dumb kid would just be trouble, or get into trouble. And yet, that pleading look on the fox’s face haunted her. Tails stared after Wave as she went, then burst into tears. The shock of everything that had happened was crashing down on him, and the only person he’d been able to talk too had left him all along. Sobbing, he turned away from the shore and started walking through the trees. Tails had no idea where he was going, he just walked. Until the trees faded away, and Tails felt something hard and smooth underfoot. Head already bowed, he looked at his feet, seeing what looked like a road. Was there a village or town nearby? He raised his head, and gasped. It wasn’t a town, and he wasn’t standing on a road. It was an old airfield, and a runway. Not only that, but there were still a couple of planes here. They looked abandoned, but right now, Tails didn’t care. This was the closet he’d ever gotten to a real aircraft, the flying building notwithstanding. Pulling some tools from his belt, Tails sprinted towards the planes. Maybe… just maybe… he could get one working? He’d studied aircrafts and engines, now here was a chance to put that into practice. He opened the hood of the biplane and started working. --------- Robotnik, Wing Fortress There was an evil grin of satisfaction on Robotnik’s face as he watched the BBA Airship crash into the water below, and the Flying Battery gain altitude, heading back to orbit. “Alpha, I want an update from Gamma. Find out just what is delaying him down there,” Robotnik ordered. Alpha nodded, heading over to the controls to call up Gamma. Robotnik rose from his chair, striding purposely towards the large map. “Flying Batteries all filled to capacity. Enough ground forces to advance. It’s time for Phase 2,” he smirked. His finger jabbed down on a broadcast button. “All forces, initiate Phase 2!” The map flashed to show acknowledgments from his forces. It would now begin. Settlements and towns would be targeted by orbital Prison Pod strikes, shortly followed by the arrival of his Badnik forces. And soon, the cities would follow. It would take a bit of time, but that time was on Robotnik’s side. “As soon as Gamma has returned, we will set course for New Mobotropolis.”

"You more you use it, the more you practice, the stronger you will get," said the Voice. "Because we're getting our daughter back. You need to be focused," said Ziona. "No rampages!" said Skye in a warning tone.
