  1. Off-Topic Thread

Some of you have probably already heard of GameTrailers their latest list, and it is by far the worst. Though I'd give my opinion on it.   Hyperdimension Neptunia was on spot 10, apparently for being a 'swallow franchise only ment for fanservice'. That's hilariously amateurish. Fanservice is even a pretty small part of the game to be honest, and it's definitely not swallow. This is the viewpoint of someone who has never played the games and hates Japan.   Then came Tales, which made it even worse. The latest games apparently don't take the franchise forward. I very clearly remember them saying Tales of Graces F has one of the best combat systems in all JRPGs though, and that is definitely one of the latter games.   As expected, Sonic also made the list. But their reasoning is extremely stupid. No good Sonic games for 2 decades, and Colors + Generations just being dillusions? That's EXACTLY how the worst part of the Sonic fanbase acts. But hey, this is the best part that came out of it: https://twitter.com/sonic_hedgehog/status/625721365736329216   THIS. THIS IS AWESOME.

Far Cry 3 - Played this long ago, and since my backlog is getting bigger with the day, I thought it couldn't hurt to finish this one, since I was close to the end already. I have no reason why I've stopped before, as Far Cry 3 is a really good game. The only negatives I can really think of is the main protagonist and me not being a fan of shooters with a controller. I prefer a mouse and keyboard. But really, the main protagonist, Jason Brody, is really despicable. Hate him. Don't often do that. But aside from that, hunting is fun, upgrading is fun and you feel like actually getting stronger, there are a lot of weapons, the enviroment is nice. Game does a lot right, and it certainly gets me interested in the other games. Particularly 4, since I love snowy areas. And the entire game is covered in snow. Insta-hype.
  3. Technically a thread where we, the staff, can post if we're away for some time. But I assume regular users can use it too, because reasons. Please keep in mind that this thread isn't only ment for permanent leaves. Oh, and don't spam the thread with oneliners such as 'I'll be away for a few days' or 'I'm back'. I'll remove them. If too many of these posts occur, I'll make the thread Staff only.     I'm not really going away, but it's better that I mention it anyway. For the coming weeks (give or take 15 weeks), I'll be extremely busy. My final traineeship has started, meaning that I have to work for 4 full days and the fifth day f*cking school decided to give us an entire school day too. So what about the evenings, oh glorious Admin Cheery? Well, that's where my other job, driving lessons and the gym come in. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening I'll be working at my other job. Wouldn't say I'm this unmissable person, but they're going to have a really rough time if I ain't going to be there. And Tuesday and Thursday are reserved for the gym. The gym costs each month are pretty high, and I have a subscribtion for 2 years (only 1 left), so I can't afford to go just once or not. And somehow I also need to put my driving lessons in there somewhere. Probably on either Tuesday or Thursday evening, after or before the gym. On Saturday mornings I work, but I should be free for the entire day. So yeah, these weeks are going to be extremely exhausting for me. I have no idea if I'm able to look at the forum at my traineeship (my previous underestimated me and thus at times didn't have work for me, so I technically was able to), but otherwise I'll only be checking the forum after work. Probably in the breaks, I dunno.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - The Legend of Heroes is a franchise that has always been porring my in my belly with a hayfork. I already own the PSP version, but I decided to go with the Steam one for now. So it was only natural that I got to this one sooner or later, and I'm definitely happy I did. So far the combat isn't.... the best. It's good, but nothing outstanding. But I'm very certain this game is more praised for it's story and characters, which is doing good so far. Estelle and Joshua, the main protagonists, don't have to do too much to be likeable. Doing quests is fun too, and hopefully it remains that way. Games tend to make it a bit repetitive more times than I can count. Oh well, I got the feeling that I'm going to have a lot of fun with this one!
  6. Games that you recently finished

One Finger Death Punch That was.. suprisingly good! That's not something you would expect out of a game that just uses 2 buttons, being the mouse buttons. To the very end I kept playing, without feeling bored. Well, it did get tiresome and repetitive at the end because the levels just took forever to beat and were all the same. They didn't really get too difficult either, as the only thing that really happened was me losing a few health points or missing at times. But I wasn't aiming to complete this game anyways so it's not that I care. There are more difficult modes but these have to wait for another day. Survival mode is pretty fun too, and I already got 2200 kills on my first try! Still rank 10k but eh, whatever. A game I'll probably revisit later for some extra stuff. A suprising game, but time well spent! And now for another game... Witch and Hero - Probably the worst game I have played this entire year. Yeah, I'm not kidding, the game is that bad. Stupid combat, ridiculous final boss that mostly depends on luck, and.. well, just stupid everything. Even though you level up and upgrade your skills, you don't feel like you're actually improving. It's very well possible that your stuck on the same level for a lot of time, just because you have to grind. Believe me, I don't hate grinding, but it was unnecessary in this game. And the combat is still stupid. I was planning to look at more Eshop titles, as it's a reign I haven't explored too much yet, but if this is an example of what I'm going to face, think I'll withdraw pretty early. Of course, I won't, but this game was really, really bad.
  7. Games that you are currently playing

One Finger Death Punch - It's amazing how such a simple concept turns out to be a really fun game. I mean, you just press 2 buttons the entire game, that's all. But it does enough to make it fun and challenging, by having enemies which you have to defeat with combo's and the like, and special challenges. I've already beaten around 70 stages and I still have no intention of stopping anytime soon.   Also playing Witch and Hero, a Nintendo 3ds Indie title. Eh, it's alright. Only after I got the Holy Sword did I truely feel that I was actually making progress. Yes, you can upgrade your stats, but later on it means nothing as the enemies get stronger, upgrades more expensive and all that. And of course, it's only logical that enemies get stronger, but this isn't really the way to do it.
  8. General Anime/Manga Thread

Yesh, of course it's fine to share em here! Think I've already linked mine on several occasions, but here it is again just in case: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Bokxie   Finished Dokuro-Chan. Eh, it was fun, but not really planning to rewatch it anytime soon, neither do I really recommend it. Still happy to see Dokuro-Chan in Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax. Speaking of which, when is that game finally coming out over here? They said Q3, but I haven't heard anything in a good while.     Also watching Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica. Eh, it's okay. Doesn't really do anything I haven't seen yet though. Just your regular magic/ecchi anime so far. Can't really judge on just one episode though.

  10. Games that you recently finished

Ys I - I've put this game down a lot of times, but now that I've finally finished it, I can say that I have played a really good game, and am probably introduced to an interesting series too. I quited the game many times before. First because the combat system was lame, second because I got killed very early on and later because I got a game over and lost a lot of progress due to the lack of auto save/save points. Yes, this game has a learning curve and unless you can get past that, it's unlikely the game will appeal to you. I would probably even recommend doing your first playthrough on Easy or Normal. Getting to the max level is very easy, and you won't get any stronger than the equipment you receive throughout the journey. If you pick a lower difficulty, it may look easy at first, but later on it will still prove that you have to use your head instead of randomly bumping into enemies. I still wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of the combat system, but I got used to it. Story and characters are pretty good too, and the final dungeon was a joy to go through, even though it was a pretty long dungeon. I usually avoid completing the bestiary in JRPGs because it takes way too much effort. Granted, there was no completion bonus attached to it apart from achievements (grr...), but it wasn't too hard to do. Overall, a nice game in a series which I'm very willing to explore more in the future.

  13. Sonic & Mega Man: WORLDS UNITE?!

Pretty good issue I suppose. It's nice to see all of the mavericks, including the Gameboy X-treme games exclusive reploids. Those were great too, and the ones from the second game actually tricked me into believing Sigma wasn't the main villain for once.   I only noted that Magma Dragoon isn't on the final 2 pages where all the mavericks are shown. Probably it was because they didn't have any room, but he was one of the most important Mavericks in like.. ever. So it would be cool if he got a bigger role than the other mavericks. Not betting on it, but I'm curious.

  16. General Anime/Manga Thread

Yeah, the amount of Ecchi in Dokuro-chan is ridiculous. I'm beginning to question what audience they're aiming for actually. I mean, the blood and ecchi scenes definitely aren't ment for kids, but the humor kind of is I suppose. Oh well, I'm not having a bad time, but several anime already made me kind of immune to Ecchi, so I can watch them without being annoyed fortunately. Not too big a fan of horror myself because I'm not easily scared, but somehow Higarashi gives off an.. interesting feeling. And it doesn't look like one that uses horrorlike jumpscares, but works more with the atmosphere. There's a reason I dislike FNAF with a passion. It happens a lot that a familiar person walks in while I'm watching anime, though most of the time nothing happens. Watched Zero no Tsukaima at school, status as pervert instantly granted.
  17. General Anime/Manga Thread

I'll probably go watch it in a dark room midnight or something. So far I have never been scared by any media in my entire life except for Secret of Evermore when I was kiddie, mainly due to the atmosphere. Hey, I'm currently watching Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan and only the first bloody murder I though wow, but the atmosphere was so... weird that it didn't bother me for long. Especially since they aren't really dead. They get revived anyways. It's more there for humor sake I suppose.
  18. General Anime/Manga Thread

I just finished Hyperdimension Neptunia the anime and Nagi no Asukara a while back :3. And now I have no idea what to watch for the next one during my breaks... grr, there's too much! I have an interest in watching Higurashi, though I doubt that's a good one to watch during my work breaks. Because you know, from what I've heard, they have no shame in showing the most brutal of death scenes. I don't mind, but I know people who do.

Blades of Time - Didn't take me too long to finish eh? Wanted to finish the DLC first before I made a post though, and thus I did. A pretty good hack 'n slash actually! Neat combat, nice looking enviroments, good difficulty with not too many spikes and such. I didn't care for the story and characters too much but eh, they're not bad. Wouldn't play it for just the story, but I definitely didn't mind going through it. Could've done with a better upgrade system and the like though. At the end you can have every upgrades anyways and most of them I didn't even use. Ignition with flaming swords was a great combination for me and for most of the game I wasn't in need of anything else than that. I could say the Dismal Swamp DLC is fun to go through, but in reality it's... a bit dissapointing. You play as Michelle, an ally/rival Ayumi meets throughout her journey. She plays the exact same, just worse and has no upgrades. What. I really wanted to have her play either differently or better, not watered down. Granted, it didn't bother me too much since it didn't make the game more difficult than it should've been. Overall, Blades of Time is a game I very well recommend to anyone looking for a good hack 'n slash. It has good gameplay, but the journey alone is already worth it. Gonna check it's... anime-like counterpart X-blades out soon I suppose. I mean, from what I've gathered it stars the same protagonist and gameplay, just animefied. Have to confirm that later.

  22. Games that you are currently playing

Blades of Time - I literally had no idea what to play at the moment on Steam. Picked up 140, played it, finished it and woop, nothing again. This one is bound to keep me for longer though, and fortunately so. Blades of Time is a hack & slash game with a pretty good combat system. If you liked DmC, you might eventually like BoT too. Story and characters is... okay so far I suppose, but the adventure and surroundings themselves are interesting and colorful. It did have a learning curve with the time reversal and all, but when you master it, it makes the whole journey far more fun and comfortable. Also playing Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones again. Quit earlier because I didn't have time for it. I'm already at chapter 8. Also picked up Golden Sun again. I'm at the the colloseum, but lost a match because I was betting my luck, and I wasn't really in the mood to start the entire event over again. Maybe later.
  23. General Mega Man thread

Mega Man! Hell yeah, I have only gotten into this franchise since a few years ago and it already became one of my favorites. As you might have noticed, this is the general thread to discuss anything related to our super fighting robot!
  24. Games that you recently finished

Wario Ware Inc. - Because I have no internet... again (this literally happens every summer because someone hates me and I don't deserve free time without any worries), I'm 'forced' to play handheld games. Though I don't mind, since I adore the Wario Ware games. This was no exception. Fun minigames, quick reaction, stupid humor that is so stupid it's hilarious. Overall just a great game to spend your free time with!   New Super Mario Bros U. - Or you know, I could boot up my Wii U again. Haven't done that in a while. It took me ages to finish New Super Mario Bros U, because it's extremely frustrating with it's constant swifting of difficulties literally everywhere. You could be stuck on one level and breeze through the others. It this wasn't the case, it would've turned out to be a pretty good 2d platformer. Even though it's pretty much a copypaste of the ds version with updated graphics. Might get all the star coins, but that mostly depends about how much this game will continue to frustrate me.
  25. Games that you recently finished

Shovel Knight - As expected, it didn't take too long. The only thing that could extend gametime was the difficulty, but despite me dieing at times, I didn't have too much trouble. Still, a great game! Now I too finally understand where the hype comes from. Great gameplay, music, graphics. Well, literally great everything! I could do with less spikes/bottomless pits and more enemies or other damaging objects that do not kill you in one hit though. My completionist side did hold me back for that reason because I didn't want to lose my cash. Even though I already had enough cash to purchase everything halfway through the game. The only thing left for me to do at the moment is some achievements (which I won't get 100% because even with my gaming skills, beating the game without losing a single life will unleash more rage than necessary). Already got around 30 of them but they haven't been updated yet on Steam due to the internet being, yet again, trash. Why does that always happen around summer...
