  1. I don't know who Murphy is, but I know the annoying thing which is Omochao, so I would be worried.

Well, to put it simply... Murphy is basically Rayman's version of Navi. He's a fairy/frog that acts as a guide for Rayman in the second and third games. However, while he's a simple guide character in Rayman 2, he becomes a but more... reluctant/annoying in Rayman 3. (But he is voiced by Billy West in that game.) Murphy's also gonna be in Rayman Legends as the obligatory 'touchpad' character for the Wii-U version. (His role in the other versions is 'press this button to cut a rope'. Yeah...)

  2. Wait, when did you go?

This is my first time going, though my brother is the one who planned to go there in the first place. I'm just kinda tagging along.

Also, if you're wondering, I previously played a demo of Lost World at Summer of Sonic earlier this month. (It was... interesting.) I might write up my full thoughts later.

  3. I'll tell you my experience for this game when I go to the (. ..- .-. --- --. .- -- . .-. / . -..- .--. ---) on September 27. (The message is in Morse code, by the way.)

You're going to Eurogamer too, huh? If they've got a Lost World demo there, then I guess I'll give the game another go (if the queues aren't ridiculously long, that is).

  4. I know we have the short spoilers here already, but for those of you who want to know every detail, here are the full spoilers for Issue 252: (You've been warned!)

So we all know what happens in the first few pages, but when Naugus leaves, that's it. Exit stage right, no return in the issue. Also, nanites are gone. Nada. Zip. Tails Doll is controlled by a Command Core (not the exact name, but I don't have the issue at hand right now), which is apparently a common thing in this new world. It eats the surrounding landscape to heal itself until Sonic and Tails managed to pull it out. After NICOLE is thrown outside in her little tricorder, the mechanics mess up a bit, breaking the speaker. Tails finds her but her hologram seems to indicate he should stay away; he doesn't notice this, though, and when he picks her up she shocks him and he remembers everything from "Worlds Collide" and both timelines. This also "defragments" her and she spends the rest of the issue fairly incoherent (whether or not she also remembers everything now is unknown.)

After they beat Tails Doll, Sonic starts to "remember" (for lack of a better word) the new timeline. King Acorn is in fact King Max, but not the one we know. This is the new Max, who looks far younger and almost seems like a cross between the original Max and Elias. And he's a kind old sport, unlike the original. (Sonic even has a thought bubble about him not being a jerk.) In addition, he now has a full squirrel tail, just like Ray the Squirrel. Curly and everything. He even has a new crown. Er, anyway... there is a "New Flashback" quickly comparing Robotnik (as in, the original Robotnik) meeting King Max in the old timeline, to Eggman (from the Genesis games) meeting King Max in the new timeline. Naugus had trapped King Acorn in a holding cell below Castle Acorn and managed to use some tech from a prior Eggman attack to make it extra secure. For whatever reason, NICOLE was left with King Acorn, and apparently could still render a physical form but some power source died before Naugus took her and trapped King Acorn.

Speaking of Eggman, he landed in southern Efrika in the remainder of the Egg-Wily Machine-X from "Worlds Collide", along with Orbot and Cubot. All of them completely remember the crossover events and the prior timelines. Eggman mentions Wily by name (well, "Al"). No mention is made on the new timeline (as I recall) and Eggman starts pushing his busted Eggchair across the desert in hope that there's a nearby base. Anyway, it turns out the Freedom Fighters had gone on a mission to find Sally, and the last transmission back to Mobotropolis was a "heavily encoded" message from Rotor; a set of co-ordinates that Sonic and Tails are going to go after. As they're talking about who could remember changes, NICOLE tries to offer some advice about finding the Freedom Fighters and Tails takes this to mean that if they find people close to Sonic, they might remember upon contact with him. (Interestingly, King Max rests his hand on Sonic's shoulder but is still not aware of the old timeline. And they don't tell him about it, either.)

The final page shows us a heavily-shadowed Sally (new design, not roboticized) hiding in the Death Egg as EggSwats run around trying to find her.

(These spoilers were from the Bumbleking forums. Any edits in these spoilers were done by me to make things more understandable.)

  5. I told the guys on Bumbleking of your theory and they've all voiced hope at that NOT happening.

Eh, I've seen the responses. I'm not expecting that to happen 'cause it was just a theory. But everyone's entitled to their own opinions.

I've been looking at other Sonic comic forums and I'm surprised to see how cynical some people are being about the whole subtle reboot idea. Because if I remember reading correctly once, people were hoping for big changes after the first Genesis Wave, so you could say those people are now getting their wish.

Yeah, those people must be happy. I personally still think it's too early to completely judge the comic post-crossover, but they clearly have other thoughts.

As for the whole 'Wally' thing... who knows? (Though I'm gonna be really upset if his running away was the end of the Naugus arc.)

  6. Heh, yeah. Though if my theory does turn out to be correct (or close enough), then maybe I could 'theorize' Eggman Nega into the comics! (*evil laughter*)

    ...

Er, anyway. Back on topic: I just posted the preview pages on Max1996's topic post on this issue (it should be directly under this topic post). Go check it out if you want to get more details on Issue 252 so far. You may even get to see what happens to Ixis Naugus... which may or may not disappoint you.

  7. I think you could be right there. It's the only outcome that would make sense, so you may have just inadvertently announced some major spoilers.

Huh... guess it's a good thing I put it under spoiler tags, then. But yeah, I wouldn't be too surprised if I've inadvertently given away a major plot-point. (Sorry if I have.)

  8. Hmm... come to think of it, I think I have a theory on what might happen in 'Countdown To Chaos'. (I'll put it in spoiler tags incase you don't wanna read it.)

You know the solicitation for Issue 255 that was recently revealed? Remember the part that suggested that Eggman might be the only one who can save the world? Well, what if his plan is to use the Genesis Wave one last time (perhaps he gets a Chaos Emerald from G.U.N.) to fix the world, restoring the old timeline without changing the characters' new appearences? ...Actually, that's very unlikely, but every other theory I had is way too confusing for even myself to understand.

Also, now that I've seen the complete preview courtesy of Bumbleking's forums, I'm definately... intrigued by the 'current' events. (Oh, and Colours DS is now canon.)

  9. Hey guys! Apparently, the preview pages for Sonic #252 (At All Costs, Part 2) showed up somewhere on Facebook. Although it may not be 100% correct, someone did put up a summary of what was previewed. But be warned; this possibly contains MAJOR SPOILERS for what happens to Sonic's World after 'Worlds Collide':

Sonic gets back to "Mobius" with his memories of everything prior intact. He is confused about being in New Mobotropolis where the Tails Doll attacks the castle of Acorn. Tails meets him and says he took a heavy hit. Sonic asks where Amy and Silver are, but Tails doesn't know where Amy is and the last time they saw Silver was when they rescued the Wisps (aka Colours DS adaptation-ish), which is contrary to the events of #247 that Sonic remembers. Sonic says that they were supposed to be rescuing Sally, but Tails says that they're following a tip from NICOLE to save King Acorn. Sonic suspects that Naugus may be involved. Meanwhile, in the castle, it turns out that Naugus had made a promise to NICOLE in return for her making a power ring to restore his magic. He is in his natural body (NOT possessing Geoffrey) and called Wally by NICOLE for some reason. While he's shouting at NICOLE to hurry up, he suddenly gets visions of the timeline prior to WWC, is confused by them, throws NICOLE's handheld form against the wall and rushes out of the room.

What are your thoughts, guys? (I know there's a chance that it's incorrect, but it's all we've got right now.)

  13. I think it was to fight Ixis Naugus. Team Freedom and Team Fighters can't openly fight him because he's king and so it would be treason.

Oh yeah, that was it. I don't know why I wasn't thinking of that, though I haven't read 'Secret Freedom' in a while. Maybe that's why.

    ...

Speaking of Naugus, how much longer do you think he'll be king? I personally see him losing the throne soon, but then it's a question of who'd replace him (if Elias wasn't available for some reason). Either way, I'd also like to see the SFF and KFF team up one day (for reals this time, not just them helping out behind the scenes).

  14. If the secret freedom fighters do come back, will Sonic find out about them? I mean, they aren't that secret seeing as everyone keeps spotting them. But if they do come back, it will be cool

Yeah, it'll be great to see them again, especially since we were left with a cliffhanger for Shard. I wouldn't be surprised if Sonic finds out about them, seeing as he already knows most of the members without knowing about the SFF itself. Also, wasn't the SFF created because the Knothole Freedom Fighters split into Teams Freedom and Fighters? 'Cause if that's the case, then wouldn't they become somewhat redundant due to the KFF supposedly reforming in 'Countdown To Chaos'?

  15. I just thought, what her weapon be called if she became a robotised master? Deadly chatter?

Maybe. Perhaps it could be a one-use only weapon that causes Wily and Eggman to immediately give up and fix each world, and it continues traumatising them even after the events of the crossover... wait, maybe that's a bit too much pain. Then again, anything involving Marine usually leads to absolute pain for anyone involved.

  16. Seems like no matter where I go, everyone is always mentioning the Tails part of the cutscene. And in fairness... yes, it's very sad to see him portrayed as a coward. Hopefully, it was just for this cutscene, since it did look like the threat was too much for them at that moment. But if Tails is like this for most (if not all) of the game... I'll be having a few words with the writers and/or Sonic Team... In other news, there was a recent interview with Takashi Iizuka were he mentions why the Colour Powers are back, as well as the significance of other characters, such as Knux and Shadow. Here's the link for the full interview: (http://www.soniczone...ndex.php?id=107)

SN: is there a particular reason Sonic Team decided to bring back the Colour Powers from Sonic Colours? Is Lost World meant to be a direct sequel, or more of a spinoff?

Iizuka: To clarify, the story is completely separate from Colours, it is not a sequel in that sense. As far as the colour power implementation goes, In Sonic Colours, it was a key selling point for that game, but as a team, we really like colour powers, and we intend to keep using them. We want to standardise them in the games, as long as it matches the playability, in each case. It wasn't a one-off in Colours, we will continue to use them in Sonic games in the future.

Z:0: Is it fair to say that you're finding it hard to make full use of certain characters like Shadow and Knuckles? It's been a while since they've had significant roles in any game.

Iizuka: Sonic's friends still play a really important role within the Sonic universe, and we really do want them to shine. But for them to shine, we want to make sure that Sonic himself can take the centre stage, and really appeal to the audience, so we wanted to make sure we really focused on Sonic and his gameplay first. And in the meantime, we've had games like Mario & Sonic, where the other characters have a place where people can enjoy playing as them. So it's not like they're completely being sidelined at all, but we just wanted to focus on Sonic and the gameplay first. And moving forwards, we want to make sure we're providing content where Sonic's friends have a place to take centre stage.

So, what do you guys think? Is this a welcome choice, or is it something you're not looking forward to?

  17. Hey guys. Guess what? ...We finally have a cutscene! However, it's in Japanese, so you'll have to stick with rough translations for now.

    Anyway, enjoy the onslaught:

    [media=]

Here's the rough translation of the cutscene's dialogue:

    Zavok: Fire!

Zavok: Kill the fat man! Show him what we’re really capable of!

    Cubot: These guys mean business!

Sonic: These guys are tougher than I thought… Gonna need to think of a strategy to take them out before they do some serious damage.

Tails: I know you can do it, Sonic…

Eggman: Retreat! We have to retreat! Let’s get out of here before they get us!

  18. So, any idea how the Color Powers got back in? I mean, didn't the Wisps go really, really far away? Well, I guess if Eggman can catch them once, he can do it again.

Well, if Sonic Team were using a similar theory to the one I posted earlier, then it could mean the Lost Hex Wisps might actually originate from there. But it's unlikely.

  19. I'll be honest... this trailer didn't really get me that excited. Yeah, it shows off some new areas that we hadn't seen before, such as the open-world and vertical segments in Desert Ruins as well as Silent Forest (which admittedly does look pretty cool), but... I dunno. Maybe it's just because I didn't enjoy the demo that much at SoS...

However, the levels are starting to intrigue me story-wise. I mean, we have an obvious Green Hill rip-off (totem poles and all), Desert Ruins looks like a merging of Sandopolis and Pyramid Cave (...and Sweet Mountain, I guess?), Silent Forest reminds me of Mushroom Hill, Green/Frog Forest and White/Lost Jungle, and Frozen Factory... well, the Casino level speaks for itself. But it gets me thinking: Could the Lost Hex in-actuality be a side-effect of Eggman's tampering with time and space?

I could personally see it working, since Generations did reference the events of Colours. But that's just me.

  20. So far I like the sound of all this. I'm glad they're shortening the arcs as well, I think it's going to be rather refreshing to see that again after so long. And the comic characters might be "re-introduced?" Sounds interesting, but could this also count for Penders characters as well?

I'm not sure, but I think I remember Penders saying in a recent interview that Archie can use his characters. Then again, I might have to re-check that. As for the shorter arcs, I agree that it'll be a nice change of pace, especially if each issue will "pack more punch" than before, as Ian said.

I'm not really liking the sound of it to be honest. Though I'm confused at the "Most, if not all characters are getting redesigns to look like the Sonic game characters." Implying that the didn't before. All that seems to have been done is that they removed the fur on the side of their mouths which doesnt really change anything so i don't really see the point but it's no biggie. You know I'm actually pretty exited. Those new covers look nuts XD

To me, it sounds like all characters without gloves will wear gloves (as shown with Sally and Nicole), non-human Male characters will probably become shirtless (as shown with Antoine, not sure if it'll affect Scourge), things like that. I'm okay with it, as long as the characters' personalities aren't radically changed.

  21. Could someone please summary it for me? Cause I dont understand a thing.

What I got from the interview was that:

    1) As I expected, the 'new universe' won't be a complete reboot of the comic series.

    2) Most, if not all characters are getting redesigns to look like the Sonic game characters.

    3) It sounds like the comic-exclusive characters will be 're-introduced', but I could be wrong about that.

    4) The story arcs will be shorter, so that they don't get dragged on as long as the 'Mecha Sally' arc did/does.
