  1. Sonic the Hedgehog (Comic Series)

For the comics world? I believe it's still Mobius, they just can't actually call it that out loud.
  2. Well, it's finally happened. I've officially got a PS4 at last! Now to get some games for it...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Not sure if I'm gonna ask for friend requests just yet. Maybe once I have some more games. :)

I've been trying to get into Final Fantasy for a while, but I can't figure out a good starting point. Not really a Digimon fan, sadly, so I think I'll pass on that one. Just Cause 2 was a favorite of mine on Xbox 360, so I'll gladly give the third one a shot someday. As for Destiny, I don't quite have the money to constantly be subscribed to the game.

Actually, you do not need a subscription to play Destiny so long as you're ok without multiplayer.

Oh, really? Hmm, I might give it a go if I find it cheap, then. My first priority is getting some of my PS3 games 'upgraded', if you will.

  3. The Future of Archie Sonic at Risk?!

I believe it went something like this: Around 2010, Archie and/or Ken Penders sued one-another over the ownership of Ken's characters (and possibly other writers' characters, too). This went on for a few years, but didn't actually affect the comic proper until around 2013. It seemed like Ken was getting an advantage in the case, so SEGA and/or Archie took precautions and had any character not owned/made by SEGA or the current writer (Ian Flynn) be suddenly removed from the comic, even if they're only mentioned. And this was BEFORE the official reboot. The most notable story arcs to get affected were STH's 'Endangered Species' and Sonic Universe's 'Chaotix Quest'. Mostly the former, which had to be completely rewritten from part 2 onwards, while the latter got away with simply replacing some characters with others. (Plus, Universe #50 was originally planned to be an ending to Sonic Underground, but it was scrapped and replaced with the 'Metal Sonic v Shard' story.) At that point, it was assumed that Ken had essentially 'won' the case (or at least, he got ownership of his characters for himself) which meant that Ken's characters couldn't be used in the comic without Archie and/or SEGA paying him a certain amount of money. So they instead went with Option B: reboot the continuity to be more in-line with SEGA's current direction for the Sonic series. Luckily, SEGA and Capcom had agreed to allow the Sonic and Mega Man comics to have a crossover sometime earlier, so 'Worlds Collide' was used as the 'final' storyline in the old Archie Sonic continuity (as well as technically being the first in the new universe, too) and any character owned by the writers before Ian were wiped out for good as a result of those events. Thus, the new Sonic continuity began. Buuut... early on, Ian and the then-current editor (Paul Kaminski) couldn't decide on whether Sonic and the Freedom Fighters should fully remember the old world's events (without mentioning certain character names and appearances) or have a completely fresh start (i.e. what we got, but without the 'memory-flash' subplot). They decided to make a compromise and have the characters reference the memories for a short time, but forget about them soon after. Anyway, that's the basic gist of it. Sorry if it seems stupidly long, but there's no quick way to summarise it all.
  4. The Future of Archie Sonic at Risk?!

Thing is, no matter who's in charge of writing the comics, SEGA and Archie would still be using the comic to advertise and promote the game series first and foremost. That's what these comics are meant to be: an exciting and entertaining advertisement for the Sonic games, but an advertisement nonetheless. It's the same with other comics, like IDW's Transformers series and more.
  5. Thoughts on Shard possibly coming back

There's already a clear Shard expy in the reboot. He's called Gemerl.
  6. Thoughts on Shard possibly coming back

That was VERY early on in the reboot when Ian said that. Since then, he’s been slowly back-peddling on that quote (mostly due to Shard's connection to Mecha Sonic in the original timeline). Nowadays, the answer is a straight "no" from him. Basically, Shard ain't coming back. The closest thing you'll get to him is Gemerl.
  7. I'm back from EGX. Honestly, kind of a disappointing event this year. Then again, 2016's just been a bit of a strange year for new games.

  9. Huh, an interesting little detail has apparently popped up in the next Sonic Universe issue. (SPOILERS)

  12. One thing that I found most notable about the new Sonic trailer: those NOT-Death Egg Robots seem to have a black-and-yellow/silver colour scheme rather than the usual red-and-yellow that Eggman has. HMM...

  13. Ken Penders Topic...

Oh man, didn't realise that the con already happened. I'll have to catch up and see what happened.
  14. Sonic Universe (Comic Series)

Yeah, about that... There was a 5-page preview (standard for upcoming comic releases) for the final part of Eggman’s Dozen a few days ago. But for some reason, the preview had 3 pages from the beginning of the issue... and the last 2 pages from the end, pretty much spoiling what happens to the Naugus twins. Obviously I won't spoil exactly what happens, but I will say...
  15. *sigh* I haven't vented that much anger in a while. I... think I'm just gonna take a break for a while.

It's alright. Things are sorted now, and the situation seems clearer to me. I'll still be popping in now-and-then.

  16. Ken Penders Topic...

Wouldn't this be better off in the topic for all Ken Penders-related stuff? And, like Skye kinda said, most people (if not all) that follow the comic have already discussed this situation before. I really don't think anything can be added to this discussion.
  17. Ken Penders Topic...

So... anyone here heard of Sonic Revolution? 'Cause it looks like Ken is gonna be hosting a panel there, in honor of Sonic’s 25th anniversary. http://2016.sonic-revolution.net/2016/06/04/sonic-comic-veteran-ken-penders-joins-as-guest/ In fairness, he has a lot of history with the Sonic comic, so it kinda makes sense for him to be a guest. At the same time, however... well, we all know his recent history hasn't been good.
  18. Sonic Reboot past lives

At this point, they've all forgotten the old world. Sonic and Eggman at least still remember most of Worlds Collide's events (from the initial Genesis Wave up to the Super Genesis Wave) and vaguely recall Worlds Unite happening (they don't remember any details of it, though).
  19. Decided to ditch the Mega Man crossover motif, so Neo M'egga Man is no more. I shall be Captain Metallix from now on.

  20. Sonic the Hedgehog (Comic Series)

But... they haven't done that properly in the comic since the beginning of the reboot. From what I recall, the only times Sonic or someone else mentioned their actual memories changing was Issue 252 (Sonic started to "remember" King Acorn's first meeting with Classic Eggman, replacing King Max meeting Robotnik) and Issue 257 (after saving Station Square, Tails mentioned that his "old" memories were fading, like a dream, with Sonic saying that he still remembers his old life, even though it's clear that he's lying). Since then, there's barely been any mention of the old world, and for good reason.
  21. Bye bye archives?

Huh. I remember hearing that Jon Gray was no longer part of the Archie crew recently (I believe the Off-Panel for SU#84 is his last ever work on the book) due to a falling out within Archie. I don't know the details on that though, so I won't go into it any further than that. But yeah, the state of the Archives and any other Pre-Reboot collections (aside from the Universe graphic novels) has been questionable for quite a while, now. At this point, the most likely conclusion is that they simply won't be continued, potentially out of fear that Ken Penders won't leave 'em alone otherwise. (Not that it tends to stop him, anyway.)
  22. Sonic the Hedgehog (Comic Series)

They won't reboot the multiverse again. They just won't. If they do mini-adaptations of previous game events, then they'll either be covered in Sonic Comic Origins, or it'll just be a case of "watch/play the game yourself to get the basic idea".
  23. Sonic the Hedgehog (Comic Series)

Colours has already happened in this timeline; it was referenced WAY back in Issue 252. When Sonic asked Tails what happened to Amy and Silver, Tails mentioned that they hadn't seen Silver since they rescued the Wisps (referencing the DS version of Colours). Unless the comic decides one day to do mini-adaptations of previous game events, then I don't think we'll be getting a Colours adaptation (aside from that "Another Time, Another Place" story that Dylan mentioned).
  24. Sonic the Hedgehog (Comic Series)

I don't think Worlds Unite is a good showcase of how the Deadly Six can be used effectively, nor do I see it as an example to say that they won't make for interesting villains. I mean, one moment they're under Eggman’s control, then they're free to do what they want for all of... about a minute, before Sigma just mind-controls them all himself. They didn't get a chance to shine before just becoming mindless drones for the rest of the crossover, and it's because of this that I want to see an actual adaptation of Lost World at some point in the comic's run. It doesn't have to be soon, I'm just saying it's the game that'll most likely to get an adaptation after Unleashed.
  25. Sonic the Hedgehog (Comic Series)

That's the fun part of a comic adaptation: it doesn't have to be a one-to-one replica of Lost World's story. Sure, the basics would still be there (Eggman discovers Lost Hex, controls the Deadly Six, Sonic messes things up, the D6 retaliate against both Sonic and Eggman, Sonic must stop them) but it's bound to have its differences. For example, perhaps Eggman won't team up with Sonic at all during their time on the Lost Hex. Also keep in mind, it might not be that long of a saga. The current Unleashed saga is only taking so long because they had to establish the new world, on top of adapting one of the biggest Sonic game stories out there. (And the less said about Worlds Unite, the better...) Lost World is much more simple, with the only really notable part being Eggman's World-Draining Machine. For all we know, Sonic could head to the Lost Hex without the Freedom Fighters (well, aside from Tails and perhaps Amy too), leaving them to witness the effects of the WDM from the Sky Patrol or something. On top of that, Sonic Universe is bound to do it's own thing, mostly seperate from Lost World's story (aside from the aforementioned world-draining part). Maybe Knuckles will help Sonic on Lost Hex. Maybe Team Dark will encounter Eclipse again. Maybe we'll catch up on Silver's Genesis Portal adventures. Maybe we'll see... whatever Blaze is doing nowadays. Again, the actual 'Lost Hex' storyline might only go on for 8-or-so issues, or they might drag it out a bit longer. It all depends on what Ian Flynn and the editor think is long enough to correctly adapt the story before moving on to new adventures. ...Or maybe they'll throw a curveball and do something that NO-ONE will see coming. It is Sonic's 25th Anniversary, after all.
