  1. True dat.

But a more organized canon would be more pleasant to talk about. I think. Maybe.
Sonic Forces had the chance to "fix" part of the messed up timeline Sega has been giving us.
I've always seen a enormous potential in Sonic's canonnical storyline, but seems the writers in Sega don't know what they're doing. Which is weird and kinda sad, considering the story might be the one of the easiest tasks in Sonic's videogame creation?

  2. I've read all the 4 issues, and so far, things are just fiiiiine... BUT I have some complaints.

The art is great. Except for issue 3 (Jennifer Hernandez has drawn WAY BETTER pages than these, what happened?). The rest looked awesome, making the characters slightly manga-ish. Great coloring too.

As for the script... meh. Character interactions were on-spot, they feel like their game couterparts, even better. Ian is still making a pretty good job on that.
But the storyline... it's just "Sonic goes to a town, meets a friend, they save the town, THE END". I haven't felt invested in the story. I know these have been just the first episodes, and were trying to appeal to a broad audience, including those that don't know these characters. But yet... I feel this could have been better.

Oh, and the action scenes... WOW, Outstanding. Sad thing is that most fight were against badniks (we knew the heroes would obliterate), and Rough and Tumble were not a big deal to me. Fun guys, hope to see more of them.
Tangle is cool looking, and her powers seem to have a lot of potential to be used in fight scenes.

Looking forward to see more of this new series. And hope this doesn't end up becoming just another way of advertising the games...

  3. Well.... apparently the 'Two separate worlds' thing from Sonic X is canon to the games... so... Unleashed took place on Earth, and Forces took place on 'Unnamed Sonic's Homeworld'.

But... this has never been explained, as far as I know. This is a HUGE game-changer (pun intended) in the canon.

So, how do they travel from one planet to the other? Why do they do it?

I think that's a reeeeeeally lazy explanation. They don't care about the lore this series has anymore. Which is a shame, considering how many possibilities they had

  4. -Cream the Rabbit and Amy Rose, Vanilla's house, Southeastern coast of Acorn

"Well done, Cheese! Now throw the ball back to me!" Cream asked. Inmediately, the blue chao took the beach ball and threw it towards the rabbit. Even being in the house's backyard, Cream seemed unaware of the raging waves and the dark clouds that kept the sky hidden.

    "Chao-chao-cha-chaoooo~" the chao said.

"Yes, I've noticed that too, Cheese. I'd like to know why mom let me skip classes today too..." Cream replied. "Maybe it's because of the weather?"

    "Chaoooo-chao?"

"Oh, I almost forget about that! Thank you, Cheese! I know I can always trust you!!" Cream happily answered. Suddenly, she let the ball aside, got into the house and called out for Amy, while still being accompanied by Cheese the Chao.

"Miss Rose! I have something that might belong to you!" the small rabbit yelled. Amy showed up just inmediately.

    "Oooookay, Cream, what is it?"

"Errrr... this..." she said, taking a card out of her pocket. The card depicted a couple of naked mobians- one female and the other male- close to each other, holding hands. Behind them, a gigantic winged ring surrounded by seven gemstones could be seen. Under all of this, the only text that was written: "The Lovers"

Amy quickly took the card from Cream's hands. "Errrr... hehehe... you shouldn't see these things..." the pink hedgehog nervously said.

"Why, miss Rose? Is there something bad about your cards? What are those shiny flying stones? Where are those people's clothes? Do they USE clothes?"

"I-- I don't know..." Amy replied, looking at the card. "I didn't use this card in today's prediction, so that means..."

The hedgehog was lost in her thoughts. After a few seconds, she realised something, and like a thunderstrike, she exclaimed: "IT MEANS MY TIME HAS COME!" Amy smiled, and put her hands on the chest.

Cream was extremely confused, and looked at Cheese. The chao shrugged. "The time to take clothes off and wait for giant floating rings, like that card showed?" The rabbit asked, even more confused after realising what she just said.

"Wha--Nno-no-no-no-noooo... It's time..." Amy replied, taking Cream's hands, and smiling at her, "...TO MEET MY DESTINED LOVE!!

-Tekno the Canary, Tekno's Lab, Casino Night Zone

"How do I find a frog in a place like this?" Tekno wondered while closing the metallic bars that secured the secret entrance to her lab. A poorly lit street full of trashing bins and containers. Nobody would venture into such a dirty and stinking street, specially living in a such a luminous and colorful city. "Maybe I could look our for a detective... are there pet detectives around here? Sounds like a silly idea, but who knows..."
The flashing neon lights, gambling machine sounds and thunderous music welcomed Tekno once she got into the city center.

"Compulsive gamblers, rich people who doesn't know what to do with their money... anyone of them could have taken an amphibious as a free souvenir. I guess I'll have to ask anyone that looks sober." Tekno thought.

And so, she proceeded asking every single mobian she found about an hyperactive green frog with yellow eyes and orange stripes.

-Sonic the Hedgehog, South Island in Acorn Archipelago

Wherever that "meteor herd" might have landed in, the hedgehog felt the urgency be there to see. He couldn't just hold his curiosity captive as a prisoner of circunstances. Even having seen all the places and faced all the odd situations he had, witnessing this felt completely new to him.

The closest he was to the landing area, the faster his heart pumped.

And so, in a matter of seconds, he was there: a cyclindrical pod welcomed the blue creature.

"So... this is all of it? Huh, it doesn't look as dangerous as I thought" the blue hedgehog said, relieved, but still curious.

And so, he approached the pod...

  5. -Amy Rose, Vanilla the Rabbit and Cream the Rabbit, Vanilla's house, Southeastern coast of Acorn, 07:46 hours MST

The momentum of the crashing waves was stronger than usual. Over the cliffs that stood before the raging sea, a house could be seen. A beautiful house with a spacious courtyard. Bushes and small trees guarded the humble but well-decorated build. Inside, a mature rabbit looked though the window, assimilating what she has just heard.
But the crashing waves did not calm her. Instead, they made her more and more nervous.

"I-it will be better for Cream not to go to school today..." Vanilla said, clearly worried after Amy's prediction, while the pink hedgehog put away her tarot deck and cleaned the table.

"Maybe the cards were wrong... I... I hope they were... Perhaps "the darkness" refered to rain clouds, or a electrical blackout, a-and "the danger ahead" is no more than... I don't know... something not really concerning?" Amy responded, trying not to worry Vanilla, who was almost shivering.

"Even knowing you have total control and know what you're doing, I still don't like these rituals of yours, Amy. And this time, it sounds more than concerning... I-it was terrifying! What if something happens to Cream?" Vanilla asked, turning her head to Amy. The young hedgehog could not stand that saddening stare. "Those noises and the earth trembling... do you think they had something to do with your prediction?"

"It could be..." Amy replied, unsure about her words. She felt ironic that, being able to foretell the future, she now had no clue what was about to happen. Her cards today have told her that the world would fall into shadows, and dangers were ahead... but how many things could these statements mean? What dangers could they face?

Vanilla sighed, and aproached Amy. "For now, Cream shouldn't know that--"

"GOOD MORNING!!" Cream exclaimed, abruptly interrumpting Vanilla. The cute young rabbit jumped into her mother's arms, ignoring the conversation she and Amy have just had.

-Tekno the Canary, Tekno's Lab, Casino Night Zone, 01:06 hours MST

Among test tubes, bizarre plants of different colours and shapes, complex machinery and boxes with hardly pronounceable words, a green canary wearing a medical coat over her clothes struggled for maintaining the most rewarding virtue a scientist should always have: patience.
All the frogs that should be on the table were now jumping like crazy after the earthquake, and constantly making "ribbit" sounds that echoed the room. She couldn't grab any of the frogs because of them jumping over her head like nothing.
    This situation drove Tekno mad.

"Not again, not again, NOT AGAIN! COME ON! Stay still for once! It was just a rumble, nothing more... stupid frogs..."

Tekno's frustration levels were beyond the charts. She needed to find the way to perfect her serum, but the most advanced test subject escaped long ago, without she even knowing. How could a frog escape that easily from an underground lab? The mere fact that she was outsmarted by an irrational creature infuriated her... And now she was forced to use the other three frogs she could gather.

Tekno sighed, and took a seat, while the frogs kept jumping ridiculous distances that a normal specimen could not. "Why am I even trying to reason with you? You won't understand a single thing I'm saying, and the Megatal serum has to be messing with your underdeveloped brains..." the canary said. Then she took a voice recorder, and proceeded to register the lastest experiment:

"Project Kermitfuse, Entry 32X: The addition of Never Lake's herbs has been unsuccessful to stop the mental breakdown, but it... helps to... jump higher? This... this is a... err..."

Suddenly, Tekno left the recorder, and got up. Her attention went into one of the frogs, that stopped jumping. Surprised, she took it into her hands, and saw the amphibious severely weakened.

"Oh, no... no..." Tekno whispered. "I'm running out of time..."

-Sonic the Hedgehog, South Island in Acorn Archipelago, 00:12 hours MST

Step by step. Red strides that lasted less than the naked eye could see. A blue blur crossed the green hills of the island like a lightning crosses the sky when a storm rises. The grass and flowers moved when he got past them, making the ilussion that they were greeting him... in less than a second. The tiny animals that populated the hills noticed the boom the speedster involunarily caused when he accelerated, and they felt the wind moving like never before.

The red shoes of the fast creature abruptly stopped before making him fall into the ocean. He looked to the sky, and saw the bizarre meteors falling into the surface of the planet. Like a child, the hedgehog felt the urgency to see those artifacts with his own eyes... and make sure no one was hurt wherever they landed on.

And so, the blue hedgehog resumed his run, this time, towards the meteor shower, provoking yet another sonic boom.

    "Okay, so this is happening..."

  6. I don't want to see a Mr. Perfect Sonic... but Sega seems to like it, as what we've seen in recent games.

I'd like to read the same Sonic we had in Archie. I think Ian nailed him (and many other characters). Also...

    tangle-character-design-1516755498373_12

...no one is going to talk about Tangle here? Or maybe about...

    IDW_Sonic_1_Img_CvrB-683x1024.jpg

    sonic-the-hedgehog-4-debuting-tangle-151

    ...this beautiful covers?

  7. So far I'm loving the artwork that has been shown, specially because most of the artists come from the Archie run: Tracy Yardley, Evan Stanley, Tyson Hesse, Adam Bryce Thomas... and so on.

As for the story... sounds pretty simple. The synopsis feels bland. I hope that's because they don't want to spoil anything, but at this point I'm afraid Sega has taken over the creative team and said something like "Sonic is always happy, he cannot emote anything else... oh, and everyone loves Sonic, and no one can do anything without him", while Ian Flynn makes a facepalm, knowing he'll be facing his greatest enemy yet: WRITING A PROMOTIONAL COMIC WITH NOTHING TO TELL.

    Hope I'm wrong.
Mr. Flynn (as well as the artists involved), we believe in you.

  8. Okay, here I go...

    The Heroes:

    Sonic the Hedgehog

Name: They call him Sonic... although he doesn't know if that's his true name. He is also called "The Blue Blur" by those who witness his impossible speed...

    Age: 16 years old.

    Gender: Male

    Species: Hedgehog

Appearance: Blue spikes. White gloves. Light skin. Red shoes with white stripes. Dark green eyes. Haven't you seen him before?

    Alignment: Good

Profession: Globetrotter, and ocassional hero. He enjoys helping people along the way... does that count?

Powers/Abilities: Able to move at supersonic speeds. Remarkable (and cool-looking) agility. Some sort of minor aerokinesis related to his movement. Chaos powers (though he is unaware of them).

Weapons/Equipment: His gloves and what he calls "power sneakers". They are not actually powerful, but surprisingly resist high friction.

Personality: Sonic is probably the personification of optimism, freedom and curiosity. He loves learning new things by travelling, and is always eager to help others, to prove everyone (including himself) that anyone can be a hero. He also hates injustice, and sadly, Mobius is not free of those...

The Blue Blur tries to hide his fears and insecurities -like his hydrophobia- by using humour, though sometimes it's hard to tell when he's afraid or not, considering half of the time he talks he's joking or fooling around. Nevertheless, Sonic is quite smarter than he looks, and he likes being underestimated just to show himself better than expected.

He loves being alone from time to time, just to calmly enjoy the world he lives in, except when his family calls... although, with time, Sonic can consider anyone part of his family, even without blood bonds.

Sonic is like the wind: a soft breeze with his family and friends, and a deadly hurricane to those who dare to challenge him or endanger the world he lives in.

Background: Sonic doesn't like looking back, so... TO BE REVEALED

    Amy Rose

    Name: Amy Rose

    Age: 14 years old

    Gender: Female

    Species: Hedgehog

Appearance: Basically her Classic hairstyle with a mix-up between Modern and Fleetway outfit. Pink spikes, light skin, light green eyes.

    Alignment: Good

Profession: Tarot Card Reader, used to be Cream's Babysitter

Powers/Habilities: Amy is quite faster than the average Mobian, and has an inusual super-strength. The pink hedgehog can also (sometimes) foretold the future using her Tarot Deck, a quite useful hability (specially when she wants to know where certain hedgehog is running to...) than Amy can only perform once she is in a calmed and quiet environment.

Weapons/Equipment: The Pikho-pikho, a mystical weapon that can take the shape of a hammer or a strange-looking crossbow (that Amy doesn't know how to use). As a hammer is able to shrink or enlarge at Amy's will.

Personality: Miss Rose tries to be cute and well-mannered  most of the times, but has a bad temper that is worth of anyone's fear. She's quite naïve and sees everything as black-and-white: for Amy, there's a huge difference between good and evil, and she enjoys punishing the ones that worship the latter, moment in which she lets her most violent traits flow rampant... even though the hedgehog thinks love is stronger than hate (Contradictory feelings, to say the least).

When adversity comes, Amy can be extremely catastrophist, but against all odds, she'll give her best, trying to be the flower that grows in the mud... even if all her petals fall.

Background: Amy Rose was raised a couple of hedgehogs that live in Spagonia. The pink hedgehog inherited the strength of her mother Emma, a well-known wrestler (known as "Hammering Emmie"), and the passionate and romantic thoughts of her father Nicky, a not so well-known writer of romantic novels and self-help books.

When Amy was 12, she was fascinated by the mystic arts, and made her first fortune telling session. She predicted that "a blue creature, fast as the wind, would change her life forever". Her father told her that maybe the creature the cards told her about would eventually become her destined love, and her mother encouraged her to look for that destined encounter... and face it, whatever it meant.

And so, once Amy felt ready, she travelled to where her cards told her to: Mobotropolis. Once there, she met with Vanilla the Rabbit, and old friend of Nicky, that would give Amy a home to live in and a simple job to do in the meantime: taking care of her daughter, Cream.

    Cream the Rabbit

    Name: Cream the Rabbit

    Age: 8 years old

    Gender: Female

    Species: Rabbit

Appearance: Same as you know and love

    Alignment: Good

    Profession: Errrrrr... student? Chao caregiver?

Powers/Habilities: Can fly using her long ears as they were wings. She's learning Chao Language.

Weapons/Equipment: Cheese the chao. Yeah. He can be a deadly weapon...

Personality: Extremely polite, even with evil-doers, Cream is pure and innocent, but also shy and fearful, to the point of crying if she faces a dreadful situation, though her cute smile is her most defining trait. Most of the times, Cream needs a parental figure to assist her because of her childishness, but she's always eager to help in any situation, specially if violence is not part of the problem.

Background: Cream lives in a beautiful small house in the coast near Mobotropolis with her mother Vanilla and her chao Cheese. Her life has been simple and easy, but full of motherly love and a warm and safe environment, school, pink babysitter and friends included.

    Tekno the Canary

    Name: Tekno the Canary

    Age: 15 years old

    Gender: Female

    Species: Canary

Appearance: Green feathers, golden earrings, red and black stripes sweater... pretty similar to the original Tekno seen in the comics, with minor clothing changes.

    Alignment: Neutral-Good

Profession: Biomedical engineer (a.k.a. super-medic), nerd

Powers/Habilities: Gliding, brilliant scientific mind, self-defense combat training. She also can make use of the Megatal Serum, which gives her enhanced strength and healing habilities and also allows her to fly, but its use can cause several mental damage.

    Weapons/Equipment: Her clothes.

Personality: Daring, challenging but most of all, nerdy. Tekno enjoys loniless, since she is socially akward and thinks people may mock her for being a nerd, but in the end, she would like to have friends to share her love for sci-fi and her good taste in music...

Tekno thinks Mobius society needs to change, specially involving Royalty and women: Tekno sees the first as too powerful and the latter as too limited in terms of freedom of choice.

Background: Tekno has always been into science, but hasn't been accepted in any scientific school... so she learned by herself.

In time, the green canary started developing her skills as a medic, helping hurt and lost kids in the streets of Casino Night Zone, and experimenting with irrational frogs. But sadly that doesn't give money. Her income usually involves dealing with people that want physical enhancements... for reasons Tekno doesn't want to know.

In her secret lab (and secret home) under the streets of Casino Night, Tekno has developed the Megatal Serum, a substance that can increase the physical attributes of any individual, but this substance is far from perfect, since it can produce hallucinations and -what's worse- can damage the brain. The key to eliminate this terrible side effects is in the most advanced test subject: a frog that escaped Tekno's lab long ago... so, for the sake of those that have used the Megatal Serum (including Tekno herself), the green canary must find that frog at all costs...

    Now, onto the Secondary Characters:

    Big the Cat

    Name: Big the Cat

    Age: 18 years old

    Gender: Male

    Species: Cat

Appearance: He's purple, big, he's also big... did I say he's BIG? Basically the same as always. No changes.

    Alignment: Neutral

    Profession: Unemployed. Ocassional fisherman

Powers/Habilities: Big has an outstanding endurance, to the point of seeming unable to feel pain and a massive strength. He also knows how to get the best fishes out of water somehow...

    Weapons/Equipment: A fishing rod.

Personality: Big is the kind of guy that enjoys a slow-paced life with no thrills on the way. Sadly, he's not quite smart... in fact, he would be considered quite silly. He might have some a minor mental problem involving him thinking he can talk to frogs...

Background: Big has always lived a calm and relaxed life in the forest of Pais Misterioso, dedicating his time to fishing and letting time pass with his closest friend: a very resistant frog he called Froggy.

    Vanilla the Rabbit

    Name: Vanilla the Rabbit

    Age: 35 years old

    Gender: Female

    Species: Rabbit

Appearance: As seen in other incarnations. Maybe with more varied clothes?

    Alignment: Neutral-Good

    Profession: Writer, house-keeper?

Powers/Habilities: Thanks to years of developing her skills, Vanilla is able to cook the most delicious cakes ever made in Mobius.

    Weapons/Equipment: None

Personality: If Vanilla had to be defined by one single word, "motherly" would fit her like a glove. She takes care of everything, and can be overprotective with her daughter. After all, Cream is the only family she has...

Background: Vanilla used to live in the Kingdom of Mercia, but travelled to the Kingdom of Acorn, where she started a new life. Here she would meet her husband: Strawberry the Kangaroo, an explorer that worked for the crown of Acorn, and the man who always encouraged Vanilla to write her mystery novels, to the point of contacting other writers to help her out, including Nicky Rose.

But shortly after the birth of their daughter Cream, Strawberry dissapeared in an expedition into the Nameless Zone. Since then, Vanilla has been taking care of Cream, the greatest gift she could receive from him, and has been writing the novels his husband would have like to read...

Sweet mother of Chaos... I've been slow as a snail... Sorry...

  9. So cute, so creepy... I'd never thought those two could work together, but oh boi, Shinomi proved me wrong... That mixed style between Powerpuff Girls and Satoko Kiyuduki... kawaii characters in a dark storyline, JEEZ, I WANT MOOOOOOREEEE--

If this is how the Empty World comic is going to be, I might be hyped. A little.

Not really excited. No. I'm not... I'm not hyped...

    ...GOSHDARNIT, I AM HYPED

I need to read your comic SO FRIGGIN' NOW!!

  10. So, more comic-based movies... WELP, this one is manga based actually (Shinomi incoming?), and one of the most well-known sci-fi manga of all time...

I really like this. I can see this working, being faithful to the source material, with a great cast that resemble their drawn counterparts.

And those eyes... I'm trying to get used to them. I know it's supposed to look like an anime doll-like android (because that's whas Gally is!) but... it's... unsettling, and beautiful ant the same time... I... I don't know what to think about them. To be honest, the overall design looks fantastic.

  11. Yes, a Venom film without Spider-man, that is produced by Sony, and, apparently is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe,

But Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock...

I... I don't know what to feel about this movie.

  12. Spider-man3 is not extremely bad to me, but it tries to tell too many things in one movie (something Batman v. Superman is also guilty for...)

Edgy Peter was embarrasing, and Venom could have been WAAAAAYY better. Hope the upcoming Venom solo movie makes the character justice.

  13. I refuse to watch that advert. I still have to watch Strange and raganarok before I even consider watching that advert.

Ragnarok? (did I effing miss a movie?! XD) Then again I haven't seen Winter Soldier... wasn't there a third Thor movie too? and Spiderman Home Coming, and The Amazing Spiderman 2... ._. and Iron Man 2)

Errrm.... Shinomi, The Amazing Spiderman 2 is not part of this universe... sooooo, ONE MOVIE LESS TO WATCH! Yay?
