Not to be "that guy" but I think at this point we've strayed far too off-topic.

The best and the worst of Sonic 2016
tiny260 replied to teamrandom21's topic in Multiverses of Sonic the Hedgehog
Eh, I really don't think enough has happened with the Blue Blur this year to really make a solid decision. If I had to choose though, best would be the announcement of Sonic Mania and their other project, and the worst is... pffft, I dunno... Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice? World's better than the last Sonic Boom games, but still EXTREMELY mediocre. If we're talking JUST the comics, I'd probably put the best as the "Eggman's Dozen" arc in Sonic Universe and the worst being Sonic #280. The prior because Eggman's elite are all well fleshed out characters that bounce off each other EXTREMELY well and lay the foundation for future drama with them, the later being because I don't think they did enough with Chip to really warrant the emotional attachment they try to push on us in the issue. EDIT: Wait a second, how could I have forgotten the sound of 25 years of Sonic? I... don't know if that was the best or the worst this year, TBH. -

Oooh, that's a HARD question! Every joke built off one another and nearly every line hit home, from Bean's monologue to Vanillia's subtle terrified shaking as Cream's telling her the story in the conclusion to practically EVERYTHING Omega says... but if I HAD to choose, I'd have to go with the interaction between Omega and Cream. Like, all of them. Whenever they bounced off each other I remember clearly having to put the book down and take a minute to just let myself laugh it out.

...we were supposed to post here to introduce ourselves? Crap. Well, nice to meet you Clay. Looking forward to hearing about your thoughts on the comics!

I hope you realize I read your "I'll do my best" in Tails' voice. If that was intentional, well done.

Hahahahah! To quote Spoony, "You guys don't even know how funny that is yet"! Hoo, hello Sonic #124, 125 and the entire "Tossed in Space" arc! And let's not forget Knuckles' Mini-series with Rotor's ant farm! Seriously, this whole issue could best be summed up as "hilarious in hindsight" based on future knowledge of what's going on down the road for the series. Another nice review, I'm glad you enjoyed the Antoine story as much as I did when first reading through it. As the series goes on, I hold he becomes one of the most developed, well-fleshed-out characters. That's a debatable claim, sure, but stories like this serve to back that up.

The intro's a bit long when compared to the rest of the video. Speaking of, the actual "intro" title card you have after the opening text has its own music playing on top of the music you have playing in the background as a backing track, creating a disorienting effect. The actual intro card itself would have been fine if you cut the background music off during that part, but personally I think for as short of a video as this was you could have removed that bit as this is more of a "tech demo" than anything. Speaking of, as for the actual animation: The first shot where Sonic's getting onto the airboard is VERY stiff and jerk y, with Sonic's movements not meshing up well with the board. However, the second shot where Sonic poses, jumps and curls into a ball, while still a little jerky, is much smoother and looks better than the first shot. My only real complaint with the later is how the arm doesn't look quite... right when it changes from "hand on shoulder" to "ready to jump into action" poses, like the joint bends the wrong way. Keep an eye on how the joints move into position when animating future scenes, it helps. That said, the blue trail effect you have behind Sonic when he's curled into a ball is a very nice touch and I would like to see more of that. Overall, not a bad first attempt, especially as far as the second scene goes. Focus more on positing and animating Sonic more smoothly by himself before working on interactions with other objects like riding an airboard, but the important thing is to straight-up keep practicing. As far as video making goes, try to keep in mind how long the meat of the video is before adding an intro and mind smaller audio-mixing things like I mentioned. (Also the extra scene at the end with deformed Sonic as the first time you worked on the project was hilarious)

Skye, go home. You're drunk.

Happy Thanksgiving, one and all! May you enjoy food and/or family on this fine day!

This is probably intentional, but I do sincerely enjoy the mix of the two Generations by having the Classic body with Modern's eyeshape.

While I can mostly see your point, a lot more of the comics than you may realize are still available on the Archie Comic App. I've even created a topic discussing which ones are available and in which trades, if you want to check it out:

Oh, there is one thing! But I don't know how feasible this is: The ability to toggle which forum topics show up as "newly posted." I try to keep updated on the entire forum, so every time I see the signal that there's a new post I click it to clear it out and check out what's been posted. However, some topics I have absolutely zero interest in (read: the Roleplay forums) and with how often they're interacted with, it's sometimes a chore to keep clicking through them to mark it as read. If I had an option to say "Show me when a new post is displayed EXCEPT in the following Topics" that'd be SUPER convenient.

It's a sad thing to acknowledge, but Skye is right. We have to bow our heads and acknowledge the best original character the comic has ever produced will never be coming back. Rest in Peace, Sid the Snail. You were an angel among men.

Honestly? Other than the pipe dream of archiving the few Archie comics that are at risk of being lost to time which I know can't happen for legal reasons, I think the best thing for this site is to encourage the growth of discussion over the comics. What makes this site unique over other Sonic fan sites is the focus on the comics. By keeping the focus on the comics and discussion of them, it would keep Scanf unique and a possible interesting draw to other potential fans in the future.

No, it's cool to gush about what you enjoy! Honestly, those are all some really nice picks! The Champions arc is one of my personal favorite arcs from the Post-Reboot era, and Treasure Team Tango is one of the few pre-reboot trades I sought out and bought because of how HILARIOUS it was. Honestly, I don't think any issue or series of issues of the series has ever made me laugh as hard as Treasure Team Tango did. TOTALLY agree with the Sonic girls, BTW - they tend to be the most charismatic among the team, Bunnie and Nichole especially. Though to be fair, under Flynn's pen, EVERYONE has a unique and drawing personality to them (I mean, just look at Omega. He's so kill-crazy I just wanna hug him). As for Titan Tails... yeeeeah, I think the only time I've laughed harder at something that wasn't supposed to be funny in the series was the Kawaii-Desu spectacular Sonic Super Special #8. They... tried. They really, REALLY tried, bless their hearts.
