I checked. It's Sonic Universe issue 45 Here is the off panel  Funny thing though. I checked the comic and Sonic says he chose the drive the car over racing on foot 

"Some strange flying metal people attacked you and us then left when... Ally and I defended you. And now someone is talking really loud but I don't understand what they're saying" Sarah replied to Stacey Mark listened scared, slowly moving back towards the others

Sarah looked confused at what was happening for a moment but then turned her attention to Stacey to see if he was alright Mark finished climbing down, but stopped surprised by the voice

So I finished chapter 6 a couple days ago 

Sarah kept trying to fight them off Mark realised he'd been spotted and hurriedly began climbing down Dominic would still be unconscious

Wasn't there an off panel in the Archie comics that gave a reason for Sonic to be driving a car in the games?

Sarah tried to stay close to Stacey and Ally ready to fight any robots that got close Mark peeked out from his hiding spot in the tree

Sarah looked over and rushed back to help Ally and protect Stacey Mark stepped back dropping his books and started climbing the nearby tree to hide

Dominic got hit by the stun rod and was knocked out Sarah aimed for the wins trying to break the connection between them Mark was coming out of the forest holding some books. Though he stopped and looked towards the carnage ensuing

And he's got a sword so he can use 'cut'

While still attacking viciously, Dominic could still be overwhelmed as he was not properly defending himself "Hey! Leave Stacey alone!" Sarah shouted flying straight at the robot that blasted Stacey looking for a weakness

Dominic kept up his attack to try and save Zoe Sarah started flying

I mean... they already have other racing games so I find it a little strange they'd make another. Are they making it like Sonic Heroes though where you play with a team? That being said I don't care about the other SEGA characters in All Stars and Transformed so it's somewhat more satisfying to be able to play with just Sonic characters (willing to bet they'll end up adding other SEGA characters anyway at a later point) Also I do like that you'll be able to actually choose how your vehicle looks

Dominic angrily jumped at the robot trying to viciously attack them Sarah stepped out looking around "What's going on?" she asked

"Stacey!" Sarah called out before sighing and going after ----------- Dominic tried to keep hold of Zoe growling a little at the robots

Dominic hugged back happy ------------ "That's people talk... oh" Sarah said looking over as they came in then shrugging

"I got you" Dominic said ----------- "Ugh. Why now?" Sarah asked. "And can't they use something quieter"

Sarah jumped too covering her ears as it was loud "Ow! What's going on?" she asked ----------- Dominic hurried to catch her, worried and upset

So I just finished chapter 5 after a long break due to exams and other stuff. Though I did play in parts occasionally so I may not remember everything I wanted to say
