  1. True, true. I'm just surprised that I can't find it anywhere. It's a shame too, 'cause I've really been looking forward to reading the 'Blackout' story arc.

Speaking of which, here's the variant cover for Issue 33 (Unplugged):

    033-V1.png

Umm... okay. (Certainly wasn't expecting this now, were we?)

  2. No Black Doom, disappointing. But yes Black Arms, good. So it is a Shadow the Hedgehog adaption

Still sounds more like a 'sequel' to me. Plus, notice how Ian states that A Black Comet appears, not THE Black Comet. It's a possibility that there are more than just one Black Comet, and the one from 'Shadow The Hedgehog' was just one that appeared around Earth Mobius 50-something years ago. I dunno, that's just my thoughts.

  3. Well, Ian Flynn has given us a few pointers for the upcoming Universe arc:

Concerning the solicits: these fell under the rare occurrence where things weren't 100% nailed down before the solicits were sent in. Diamond Distributors wants the solicits way in advance. So somewhere along the way, I guess some signals got crossed.

So just a few clarifying points:

    - "Shadow the Hedgehog" has happened. A lot has already happened.

    - The Last Story is the single most solidly canon aspect of the game, and that's what I'm working off of. I would very much like to go back and tell the comic's version of the game. There's a lot I want to get back to.

    - No Black Doom

    - Yes, Black Arms

    - Yes, it's a Black Comet

As for the rest, I leave it to your wild speculation.

There's one other bit referring to the STH Issue 256 solicitation, but that's in the other topic.

  4. Well, it is still a possibility. I'm just saying that it would seem a bit redundant. Either way, we'll find out by the end of the year. (...Actually, that's quite a while away.)

  5. Oh, it's not that I never believed you. It's that I didn't want to believe it. I already knew about the Archie/Punisher and Sonic/Sabrina crossovers, as well as the Sonic/Image Comics crossover, so I had a feeling that a Sonic/Sailor Moon crossover wouldn't be impossible. Either way, it seems... odd.

(Sorry if I sounded like a jerk from all that. That wasn't what I was going for.)

Anyway, back on topic (Mega Man-wise, at least). I see what you mean about the X-Buster, seeing as it is required to create one of the more powerful weapons in Legends. Also, now that you mention Tron Bonne, who's your favourite character from the Legends games?

  6. But I have a worrying feeling that if these aliens aren't the Black Arms, they're some cheep supermarket knock-off stand in.

"Prepare yourselves, humans! Now you face the wrath of... the Grey Arms!"

I have a sneaky suspicion that they are Black Arms, just under a different leader is all.

Isn't that kinda the same thing as Captain Metal and his band of pirates?

  7. I... suppose. Even so, Legends is set far beyond Classic OR X's timelines, to the point where the X-Buster is nothing more than a toy. But hey, this is Archie we're talking about, so who knows? (On another note, are you serious with the Sonic/Sailor Moon thing?! Er... I don't think I'll be looking into that anytime soon ever.)

(Oh, hey. The Mega Man comics topic has finally reached the second page. Time to celebrate! ...Ok, I'm done.)

  8. Oh boy.. you are Making me going through all these old issue again.. So let's see.. Ah! It was during Sonic's adventure in Space, shortly after the Xorda Re-enactening of the "day of fury" , or full scale destruction of mobius... For the second time.

He somehow found Tails's father and Mother along the way on a planet, but also the Alien responsible of the full derobotisation of Mobius at the time (and somehow making them immune to rebotisation , shall it happen again.).

She could not be saved, so Sonic had her to leave the planet safely , in order not to be executed.

Oh, I see. Are you referring to the 'Bem', by any chance? I remember them being referred to in the 'Genesis' epilogue, since they originally made everyone on Mobius immune to roboticization until the first Genesis Wave struck (which, for anyone who's curious, still happened in the new continuity). I suppose it could be interesting to see them in the new Universe arc. Now if you'll all excuse me, I'm gonna go and look up more about the Xorda... (oh, so that's what they look like. *shudders*)

  9. At the very least I just can't wait to see how they'll handle "X" And "Zero" stories. Think it will be a spin off or a full fledged arc?

Well, Ian Flynn has expressed how much he really wants to do a Mega Man X side-series, similarly to Sonic Universe. But he's also said that it probably won't happen for a while, and it would also require many, MANY people reading and enjoying the current Mega Man comics (which shouldn't be too hard, after the crossover).

  10. Lets get MOVING! (...) Er, anyway, here's the main cover and solicitation for the next Universe arc, 'Shadow Fall'. Enjoy:

    F8Ge4JJ.jpg

Jump aboard the action as we begin the 'Shadow Fall' saga! Team Dark is sent into the deep, dark depths of space to stop the approach of the Black Comet! It hasn't even been fifty years! The Black Comet is home to an evil, violent race of aliens known as The Black Arms, but the Black Arms were defeated months ago - so who are these new alien invaders inhabiting the comet sent to consume the earth? And what sinister new villain awaits Shadow in its depths? You cannot miss this gritty, alien-blasting new storyline with art from Jamal Peppers, and cover art from Tracy Yardley! Plus a killer Shadow variant cover from T. Rex!

So... those aliens aren't the Black Arms? They (as well as Black Doom, most likely) are already dead? Hmm... what are your thoughts, guys?

[EDIT: Ian Flynn has given more detail on this arc, mostly to do with the villains. Skip to the bottom of the next page to see those updates.]

  11. Hey guys! We have a new cover and solicitation for the epilogue to 'Blackout'. Enjoy: (No variant cover yet, I'll add it in when I can.)

    2dh74uw.jpg

The critically acclaimed Mega Man series continues with the dramatic, action-packed epilogue to the 'Blackout: The Curse of Ra Moon' storyline in, 'Unplugged'! The battle against the sinister alien being known as Ra Moon has ended, and Mega Man's final fate remains in doubt! With major repairs looming, and Rock's future as a super fighting robot in question, Dr. Light must work to restore our hero to his former glory. This may be a job that even Dr. Light can't handle, but at least he's got some help from his trusty pal Dr. Wily... Wait! Why on earth is the evil scientist helping to save the Blue Bomber? And how far will Dr. Wily go to remain free? Featuring cover art from Brent McCarthy and a special variant cover from Mega Man artist supreme Patrick 'SPAZ' Spaziante!

Well, judging by that end part, I'd say that the MM3 adaptation may happen sooner than I expected. What are your thoughts, guys?

  12. It's time! Here are the main cover and solicitation for the conclusion to 'Countdown To Chaos'! Enjoy:

    BGvViPJ.jpg

It's the dramatic conclusion to the epic 'Countdown to Chaos' saga! In Part Four, it's a race against time as the countdown reaches its thrilling end! Metal Sonic is out to kill Sally and the Death Egg II has launched-things are not going well for our true blue hero! Can he and Tails get to the Aquatic Ruins Zone in time to save the day? And what horrifying discovery awaits Dr. Eggman? You definitely won't want to miss this earth-shattering climax of the storyline that shook the Sonic comic books to the core! Featuring the final adjoining cover in the series from artist Ben Bates, and a special 'end of the world' variant cover from Tracy Yardley!

Well, at least they're acknowledging that 'PPP' ends before this arc. Also, could Metal Sonic be going rogue... again? What do you guys think?

[EDIT: So, according to Ian Flynn himself, the solicitation is a bit wrong. There is no Aquatic Ruin Zone (or at least, not one that's important to the plot of CTC). Everything else is correct, though.]

  13. Although a pattern would make sense, I really don't see the next arc being another 'X Years Later' storyline (especially with all the Penders-related mumbo-jumbo that's happened recently). I wouldn't worry about what comes after 'Shadow Fall' until 'PPP' is finished, anyway. (Though, there is still that 'Underground' epilogue...)

  14. So, the next Universe arc is most likely a 'Shadow The Hedgehog'-esque storyline, eh? ...I think I can get down with that.

Also, if my calculations are correct, then Part 1 of the next arc should be out just before 'CTC Part 4', which could explain

    the world still being shattered,

if the cover is anything to go by.

Still, I'm looking forward to seeing our favourite black hedgehog returning to the spotlight. After all, he was the one who started Sonic Universe in the first place.

But before that, we still have some pirates to defeat!

  15. Ian said something "Big" is going to happen at the end of this arc, so fingers crossed we're going to have peaked interest when it ends.

Something... 'Big', eh? CTC Plot-Twist: The Freedom Fighters must take on a giant, skyscraper-sized Froggy!

  16. (...Man, that holiday dragged.)

So I've recently returned and the first thing I did was read Issue 252. It's... interesting, to say the least. While I'm still disappointed with Naugus just leaving (especially since it looks like it'll be a while until he returns), I think the issue was pretty decent. Tails having his old memories restored was a given, and the fight with Tails Doll was alright. (Still, I would've preferred to see Team Freedom take on the original Tails Doll, but I digress.) Though I haven't actually seen much of Old Max (I started around the countdown to 'Genesis'), I think the new King Max Acorn looks pretty cool and could become a neat character later in the series. Speaking of redesigns, I think NICOLE's new look is great, too. Definately has more of an 'A.I.' feel to it, in my opinion. And Sally's redesign is (quite literally) decent, too.

Now, about the whole 'restart' thing... I'm okay with it (for now, at least.) It's clear that this isn't a reboot, but rather the Archie and Genesis worlds have merged into one reality. (And judging by the solicitations for 'CTC' and that teaser poster from Issue 250, I'd say that's not a good thing.) I like the idea of the next arc being about Sonic and Tails (and NICOLE) searching for the Freedom Fighters to both regroup and restore their old memories, while also learning more about this new reality and both its positives and negatives. I just hope that it keeps my attention, or I might think of temporarily 'dropping' it. (But that's unlikely to happen, right?) Oh, and Eggman was in the issue somewhere. Kinda forgot about him. (Though in fairness, he will be a major plot-point in 'CTC', by the sounds of it. So there's that, at least.)

Meanwhile, I'm interested to see the solicitations for the next Universe arc, which should be sometime next week.

  17. Actually, now that we've seen many (perhaps all) of the new Wisp Powers, I'd like to list them all down here (minus the ones from 'Colours', obviously):

    - Indigo Asteroid (Both versions)

    - Crimson Eagle (Wii-U exclusive)

    - Magenta Rhythm (Wii-U exclusive)

    - Black Bomb (Wii-U exclusive, Miiverse-only)

    - Grey Quake (3DS exclusive)

    - Ivory Lightning (3DS exclusive)

So I'd like to know: now that we've seen most of these new powers in-game recently, what are your thoughts on them as a whole and/or individually, guys?

  18. Probably Omochao, mostly for pointing out the painfully obvious. I never found Navi to be that annoying (and after watching some playthroughs of Skyward Sword lately, I think I've found something MUCH more obnoxious). As for Slippy, while his constant 'I need rescuing' speeches do get annoying, I haven't played Star Fox 64 (AKA Lylat Wars for us UK gamers) nearly as much as I've played SA2, Heroes and Generations, so I don't come across them nearly as much as Omochao's 'advice'.

    ...

Oh, right. Let's not get this too off-topic, guys. This is the thread for Sonic Lost World, after all. Not the 'annoying characters' thread. (Sorry if I sound harsh.)

  19. I haven't Rayman 3, but I have played Rayman 2, I don't remember him, but it's been a while since I played it. And his role is basically the same as Omochao as well then? Both guides. Both annoying.

Pretty much. The main difference is that Murphy only appears in the first world of Rayman 3, and then he's... er, disposed of. Unlike Omochao, who never goes away.
