Melody stuck her head out the kitchen. 'Huh! Looks like Mom and Red have met each other. I can't see Skye, Tikal, Ziona or Glen anywhere though.' Melody walked over to Skye's door and knocked on it. 'Hello anyone... hehe..', Melody thought, then realsied what she was doing. "Hello? Skye? are you in there?" ---------------- "I did" replied Anna. "But that's in the past now." --------------- "I will. I want to see where the story goes now. Stories don't fully end with a 'happily ever after'."

'Could be they came back and we didn't see them. We we're kinda distracted after all! Shall we ask around and knock on doors to see who's around?'

'Great! So as long as we learn to think 'quietly', we shouldn't end up bombarding each other with random thoughts,' thought Melody as she poured two glasses of juice and handed one to Hope.

'Cool. What do you want?' asked Melody as she went into the kitchen. 'And I guess from the pause that wasn't as easy to hear?'

Anna looked up, smiling. "You always did in a way Red." ---------------- "Thanks," said Ziona, as she started playing with Glen's dread's. "A boyfriend, sunsets, the end of the war. I think this little girl got her happy ending."

'Yeah, what I did was just try and think quietly. Now, I'll try thinking the same thing again, but this time, try to actually read my mind, and see if you can hear it this time!'

'That's kinda cool,' Melody thought. 'Guess it's a case of though being quicker than speech. Now, hmm, lets try this not broadcasting thing. Try not to read my mind directly, and see if you can hear my next thought.' suggested Melody. 'I'm gonna get something to drink. Want one?' Melody thought, but trying to think 'quietly' so it wouldn't be broadcast. ----------------- "Uh, yeah.... It's gonna sound weird when I say it out loud, but er, alternate future you is my adopted mother..." Anna was staring hard at the floor. --------------- "Just a bit longer," whispered Ziona. "I want this moment to last."

'Yeah, you're probably right,' thought Melody. "Okay, thank's Shadow. We'll call you when the film starts," she said aloud as she headed to the door. 'There is one other advantage with this... I think... Is it just me or are we talking a lot faster?' she thought to Hope.

'How do you practice 'not' broadcasting?', Melody pondered. 'But yeah, we'll need to find some way. And uh...' she glanced in Shadow's direction, 'is it rude to 'talk' this way when other people are around?'

'Well I hope not. Considering this thing', Melody tapped her head, 'mean we'd probably know exactly what the other was gonna do! We'd end up just standing and starring at each other!' Melody grinned.

'Hmm, probably,' thought Melody, 'but if we were to handicap you in that way, it'd be like taking away my speed, so hardly a fair fight.' ----------------- "Well, you see.... I haven't told you who my adoptive mother is yet...." began Anna

Melody gave a little laugh. 'Don't worry. I wasn't being serious,' she thought, not crossing her mind how odd their 'conversation' must look to Shadow. 'Besides, even if something like that did happen, I've seen enough know to know that you're just pretending about not being good in a fight! You could probably beat me with ease!'

"Okay, we'll give you a call when we start," said Melody. 'What are the odds that with our luck we somehow end up INSIDE the film or something equally as crazy," thought Melody to Hope.

Melody looked at Hope. "Well, no. But the way things are just walking through a door could be hazardous!"

"She tends to stand next to me," said Melody by way of explanation. "Either Skye or I are around when something happens to her. And the lot worse thing, that's kinda part of the reason we want you to know. In case it does get worse, but we don't notice."

'I think it's time or fate getting it's revenge for Skye and I messing it up,' thought Melody. Then she blushed, and repeated her thought out loud so Shadow could hear it.

"Yeah. Maybe once things have calmed down and we've gone a few days with nothing else crazy happening. As for Shadow, best tell him right now I guess," said Melody. 'Let's hope he believes us!'

Skye slept peacefully, his tails twitching happily as he dreamed. ---------------- "Should we tell Shadow now then?" asked Melody. "So he can keep an eye on us from outside in case we doesn't notice if anything starts going wrong. I do wanna tell Dad as well but..." her speech moved into thoughts, 'He'd just worry more about me, And because we think it happened with the teleporter, he might not let me go with you again." ----------------- "I know," replied Anna, "and I haven't got to the strangest part yet. You, uh... might wanna sit down again."

Skye smiled, reaching out to lightly brush her cheek, then fell asleep again. ---------------------- "I... I did say to wait.... oh boy.... this... this is awkward. I had hoped for a moment to brace everyone. Okay, Red, meet Red. Remember how I mentioned the whole future thing?" Anna grimaced.

"I know. I exhausted my magic three times today... that could have a lasting effect..." said Skye slowly. ------------- "Are you sure?" asked Anna. "If you are, I better warn... other you to brace herself."

"You...brought me back?" asked Skye. He tried to sit up but was to exhausted to manage properly. "I'm sorry. You didn't need to do that." ----------------- "Hi Mom... uh... okay... so you're... erm, the younger you is still here. Do you think... you're up to meeting yourself?" asked Anna nervously.

Skye stirred again. "It's brighter now Tikal. Did I sleep all night outside?" -------------- 'Yeah, we'll need to be careful. But we can't hide outside forever though. Guess we'll just have to keep our wits about us," thought Melody. ------------ "She is?" exclaimed Anna. "Red, wait right there, don't move!" she exclaimed, the shot off looking for her adopted mother.
