  1. The Binding of Isaac

I don't think you can change them. How are you playing it, anyway, and what are your problems? Make sure you're not shooting with the mouse, since the arrow keys are much better. Other than that, keep playing. The Binding of Isaac is actually the first time I learned to use WASD movement. After a while, it should just be natural.
  2. General Anime/Manga Thread

ShaDuck1: I assume you've also seen or played Danganronpa, judging by your signature?
  3. Favorite Webcomics?

I was wondering if you guys regularly read any web comics. I read xkcd and Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal regularly for mathematical and academic humor, but Dinosaur Comics is pretty funny in the same ways. T-Rex always seems to have something simultaneously stupid and clever to say. I also read The Onion, a satirical news company that makes up fake and sometimes dark news stories. What funny things do you guys see online?
  4. General Anime/Manga Thread

I think I complained about it earlier, but the light novels are better, although now you can probably only find the first 3 volumes for free on p2p networks because of their recent licensing in the U.S(!). The anime is also very good, and it's actually a pretty good representation of the anime scene at this time, both the good parts and bad. Many people have complained about SAO being bad in general, but largely it seems to be confined mainly to 'because it's popular.' Also, unless you're talking about the very popular and old anime, it's actually pretty rare to see an anime have more than 26 episodes (one season). Heck, even Puella Magi Madoka Magica had half a season, so in anime, 25 episodes is not really considered short, though SAO will probably get at least one more season. Good luck watching it, tell us how you like it.
  5. General Anime/Manga Thread

I've heard good things about FMA, I have got to check it out sometimes. I finished Rewrite after about 6 months of playing. It was definitely one of the best visual novels I've ever played, but what do you expect from a Key work with collaboration from 7th Expansion and Type-Moon? It's like Visual Novel All-Stars: Melee. Have you all checked out this season's shows? It's pretty awesome. Samurai Flamenco shows potential. Golden Time is a romantic comedy, but the characters are actually realistic subversions of popular tropes. Banri has amnesia, which is a typical excuse to explain why he has no social relations, and so you'll know as much as he does; however, he actually has to deal with his past in a non-cliche way. The yandere stalker actually has character depth, and the poor target of her stalking, Mitsuo, actually has his own personality problems. It's a nice refresher to see characters make logical decisions and be driven by actual human desires instead of the extremely unnatural conversations in most romantic comedies. Kill la Kill is, depending on who you are, either extremely shallow fanservice or extremely deep fanservice. Coppelion is great, but it could be better. It may improve.
  6. Corrupt a Wish

Granted, but the member, among others, comments with only the words "Rest in peace." Man, I wish I could buy a hamburger without having to show photo ID.
  7. The Halloween thread. Spoooooky!

Ah, Hallowe'en! The one day it's not weird to dress up in some weird cosplay and knock on the doors of strangers. The night when scary things are supposed to happen, but everyone thinks it's a good idea to go outside in the middle of the night. A holiday that everyone seems to have some sort of complaint about! Yeah, I went to some parties, but more recently I've just been staying home like any other night. If I wanted to see crazy cosplayers roaming the streets, I'd go to an anime convention. If I wanted candy from strangers, I'd go rob their house. If I wanted "spooktacular" chills and thrills, I'd go read Dinosaur Comics. That said, I don't want to be left out of the cool Halloween action, so I might drive my some guy's house holding a map, and ask him the address of the house, then tell him my grandfather died there and leave.
  8. Your Internet Speed

depawali: It's below average for most developed nations, but definitely above dial-up. With those speeds, I'd assume you have a cheap DSL or large wireless network, though cable Internet can go that low at some time. From what I understand, ISPs tend to offer speeds at 1.5 Mbps down and some other applications are running on your network, so you might be able to tweak it up a little bit. I'd say it's functional, but you might want to consider an upgrade if you download or stream a lot of lossless music, video, or games.
  9. Off-Topic Thread

I know that feel, man. That game is just so addictive, and it takes a very long time to get all the achievements. The dev says The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will be out by the end of the year, but I'm doubtful. Still, pretty good game.
  10. Sonic Lost World

I'm getting the 3DS version, but not because I don't want the WiiU version. I just don't have a WiiU. The 3DS version looks nice anyway.
  11. *Throws keyboard* Why do I always miss livestreams? I backed 20 bucks; I wanted to give 60 for the Golden Beck and exclusive transformation, but I decided against it. Of the three Calls, which did you like best? I though H was the cutest, but one of the minor F's look Kuudere and would probably fit in-universe better than E or H. E's nice, but she seems like she'd fit in Megaman Zero better.
  12. General Art Thread

@BlueBlur62391: I think you should write up a proof of concept of your planned comic. You don't really need very serious art skills if you pull off comedy right, and you can even do a sprite comic if you aren't confident in your talent. For future's sake, what say you explain more about your planned project? Status posts tend to get buried quite quickly here.
  13. Sonic Lost World

Why in the world does SEGA think anyone would want Omochao DLC as a preorder bonus? What makes it worse is that Golden and Sonic-styled Omochao are premium, but it implies that there are even more remote-controlled Omochao. Why are the designers still under the illusion that Omochao is the beloved "cute character" of the franchise? It is not.
  14. Your favorite Gaming Quotes.

Naegi: "You put your hand... in [a dead guy's] underwear?!" Kirigiri: "It's just underwear." Kirigiri: "It's not like I put my hands in his socks..." Danganronpa has a lot of good quotes, especially from Genocider Shou and Monokuma.
  15. Sonic Lost World

Well, Eggman always teams up with the others at the end of the newer games, anyway. It wouldn't be surprising if he just did that at the beginning of the game instead.
  16. What audio or video player do you use

I've heard that the best video player is Media Player Classic - Home Cinema because you can set up custom filters and tweaks. I don't always run a system that can use Windows, so I usually use VLC for its portability, small size, and relatively few dependencies, especially if you just use the curses interface instead of Qt.
  17. What viewer (Adobe, Soda, etc.) do you use?

Hmm, I don't know about Android, but for comics and manga I use CDisplayEX on Windows and Comicseer. For reading PDFs, I use Evince and Firefox's nice pdf.js viewer, and sometimes Adobe Reader on computers that don't have Evince.
  18. Introduction Thread

Nice to meet you, kira1000. I can see we share hobbies, too. Now I wish we could play a fully immersive game of laser tag online, but I guess that's the last thing someone would make once something like the Nerve Gear or some virtual reality comes out, hehe.
  19. What web browser do you use

Opera is in kind of a bad spot with its userbase right now, since it switched to WebKit from their own Presto. From what I've heard, Opera right now has no sense of identity like it did in the past, and a lot of the features in the original Opera were removed such that some people call it a "reskinned Chrome." Once they add/remove something to differentiate themselves, their userbase will hopefully be less hostile, though what happens with a lot of software projects is that they make a major change/mistake, a large amount of the userbase leaves, and when the flaws are finally fixed, their previous users simply aren't interested. From what I've heard, I'd cite KDE as an example.
  20. Your Internet Speed

My condolences, Neo Metal Sonic. But hey, look on the bright side. At least it's not dial-up, which is ONE-TENTH of your download speed. PixeliousFox: It's interesting that you only have one ISP where you live. Here, if only one ISP is in the area, you can expect low-bandwidth, high-latency connections.
  21. What web browser do you use

Firefox did eat RAM back in the pre-Firefox 4 releases. Those days it took upwards of 15 seconds for it to load up. Sometime in the last few years, though, it just started being very optimized. Personally, I like it because it scales well. It starts at about 50MB RAM and I usually have anywhere from 20-150 tabs up at a time; Firefox handles it like it's nothing at all, given plugins and extensions aren't interfering, and I have to once again mention the tab grouping feature, especially for many-tab use cases. Chrome and Chromium have their upsides in UI design, though. The large, rounded edges seemed a childish-looking early on, but it looks respectable now. Plus Chrome has a built-in version of Flash. Not good for privacy, but good for the Youtubes. It also has a nice task manager. Surprisingly, Internet Explorer is the only browser that supports both of Youtube's HTML5 video standards, though h.264 is a licensing thing, not a software-support thing at all.
  22. What operating system do you use

I believe you guys are thinking of UEFI and the Trusted Platform Module. Microsoft requires OEMs, the computer manufacturers to implement it in their BIOS if they want to be able to put a little Windows 8 sticker on it and have Windows 8 installed on it by default. The problem is that Microsoft does not require the OEMs to allow the user to turn off UEFI or have any control of the signatures it will accept. What UEFI basically does is, before it boots from a disk, the BIOS will check the operating system's kernel (its basic system or its "core") to see if it is cryptographically signed by the trusted party (It sees if the unique checksum of the kernel is encrypted by the trusted party's secret key). It calculates the checksum of the kernel itself, and if it does not match the signature from the trusted party, it will refuse to run the kernel. This could be used as a security feature, because rootkits typically modify or run before the kernel. UEFI should defeat these rootkits because if even a bit is changed in the kernel, the UEFI BIOS will see a difference in the checksum, realize something is wrong, and abort the boot, at which point the user might be notified and told to reinstall the OS or otherwise get a signed kernel. The problem is, right now, the only trusted party all the Windows 8 certified computers trust is Microsoft. Add that to the fact that you might not be able to disable it in some computers, and you have a serious problem. I don't believe Windows 7 is UEFI signed or compatible, and I'm even more sure Vista and XP aren't. This is even scarier for the Linux and other communities, because each kernel update of each distribution would require a signature by Microsoft, and kernels update in Linux quite often. Last I checked, Microsoft charged $99 for a signature and it takes a while to make sure it's "malware-free" or fits their "guidelines." Even worse, kernel developers, who might need to change kernels many times a day even, would need to wait days for a signature from Microsoft. These $99 fees might be acceptable to some Linux distributors like Canonical and Red Hat, but smaller Linux distribution developers would not have such a time. In distributions using custom kernels like Gentoo, it would be downright impossible for them to operate, especially with a third party as slow, uncooperative, and profit-driven as Microsoft. Some manufacturers allow disabling of UEFI and adding additional signatories, but many don't, meaning it is essentially impossible to have anything but a select few "authorized" operating systems on those machines. That said, I feel that Windows 8 was a bad executive decision. They could have put all the user experience features from Windows 7 into 8, but they actually removed some options for the "modern" mobile feel. I feel like this is some sort of nudge toward their Metro/Modern API by the CEOs, who just removed some features because it would make normal Windows applications seem old and deprecated, forcing developers to use Microsoft's new Windows-8 only APIs just so that more people will buy Win8 for the Metro applications. In terms of stability and speed, Windows 8 has equal or lower requirements than 7 in some areas, so at least they didn't bloat up the OS like in Vista. Still, 16-20GB for an OS install is pretty insane. I wonder if Microsoft is going to even bother with a Windows 8-based server system, or will they just leave accept their loss to the UNIX camp. I just can't imagine any self-respecting server administrator using any sort of touch-screen control or Windows 8's UI in general. Maybe Microsoft will stick to the old UI for server systems, though that can't be viable for the long-term.
  23. Strange Dreams

I know that feel, bro. We simply just forget most of our dreams. It's probably for the better, though. I knew a dude who kept a detailed dream diary. Apparently there are some disturbing psychological effects of keeping track of your dreams, though. Plus, forgetting a dream generally means you've internalized and understood what it was subtly or not-so-subtly implying.
  24. Last to post wins v3.0

You know, watching Episode 22 of Shingeki no Kyojin, it looked like Captain Levi turned into Sonic the Hedgehog for a second.
  25. Yeah, the fan development idea was really controversial, and some contend that it was even the cause of MML3's cancellation. Mostly, though, that can be attributed to Capcom's own disinterest in the project. I'd personally like to see a developer, especially a successful on like Inafune, pull off this possible pinnacle of collaboration. I'm personally mainly excited for Mighty No. 9 because since it's a independent company like Comcept, it'll hopefully be free of all of Capcom's executive noise. That and I always like to see a successful crowdfunding campaign.
