  1. Gotta admit, your take on Sonic has suprised me! I dig the longer boy proportions, still retaining the energy of the original by drawing such cool poses. Longer and rounder ears, classic eyes, Toei hands, Modern shoes... you fused every version of Sonic and made it work!

The only odd thing I can see is the head spikes, or so, the "hairstyle". Not a bad thing tho, Sonic looks more like a manga protagonist, which is cool, but, are the spikes always siding right, or is it just a drammatic effect?

  3. Many cultures around the world tackle on the idea of life after death...

And so here we are, talking in a dead thread. Ironic, isn't it? The thread where the last one posting wins is the one where no one posts anymore...

  4. Alrighty then, I don't know if this counts as a request, but I'd want to see how you would redesign Sonic himself:
Let's imagine Sega calls you and tells you that they are tired of the same Sonic design since 1998, and they want something new, but at the same time, a concept art that keeps the iconography of the character. How would you do that?

Also, on a different note, I can't see some of your pics from this thread, either using Chrome or Firefox. Am I the only one?

  5. So, this thread seems to be getting rusty...

Let me revive it using the power of an impossible combination, child's innocence and raw willpower:

In brightest day, in darkest night,
no evil shall escape my sight,
    those who worship evil's might
    beware my power...

    YOTSUBA'S LIGHT?!

    ddtnqjs-a6a1da59-553e-4fd9-9f1f-7d847eed

Yotsuba Koiwai riding a Danbo made from the energy of a Green Lantern Power Ring...??!!

[I even made a larger version of the picture, featuring the full body of the danbo (with a Kyle Rayner-esque "outfit") and some text welcoming our dear green-haired girl to the space force of planet Oa.]

Insane crossover, I know: a beloved japanese slice-of-life character using the power of american superheroes.
But you already know how much I love both sides of the comic media... So why not to combine them.

Besides... they are both GREEN, amirite?? Huh???

  6. So, is the show actually ending?

I know they actual show, Steven Universe, ended, but then the movie popped up, clearing the way for the Future storyline. I'm assuming that Steven Universe Future is the one thing that's getting closer to the finale...?

  7. Another one here that watched the film, and I agree on everything Skye said.

I might add that every time that Robotnik was on screen, my friends and I laughed a lot. Maybe not because of the jokes, but because of Carrey's acting. He definately enjoyed the experience, and it shows.

Sonic himself feels like Sonic... most of the time. I found the character slightly annoying sometimes, probably due to the Spanish translation, since in some scenes Sonic instead of saying something like "cool!" or "nice" said "that's Sonic" as a way to express emotion. I have no idea why they did that, but it felt unnecesary. The dub was quite nice anyway.

By the way, is it just me or is the movie being really successful? Considering it's a videogame movie based on a franchise with such a (undeserved) bad reputation nowadays, general audiences seem to like it! Hope it makes enought money to have a sequel, because... ohohohooooo, what a sequel it would be... I'm hyped, and didn't know I could be hyped for the sequel of a live-action Sonic film!

  8. I might go to watch it a pair of days after it hits cinemas. I want to read some reviews first to see if it's worth the ticket's price...

...although I'll probably be stupid/fanboy enough to go watch it even being the worst movie ever filmed because of Sonic. Maybe even go at day one. And I shouldn't do that. I know I shouldn't.

  9. Because the more likely it is that the final cure will be a complete reset button with utterly ZERO lasting effects.

Now THIS is what I fear the most, the fact that all this will most likely mean nothing in the overall narrative.

Still, as long as Sega's shadow is over the scripts (again, if it's as how we think), seems like they will not try to change the status quo one bit. And don't get me wrong, you can tell great stories without any world-shattering crisis on the horizon, but if things don't change a little from time to time, a long running comic like this can end up feeling bland.

  10. (Okay, hope this doesn't count as double-posting...)

I've been reading the most recent comics and... wow, some serious sh*t has happened. There have been some interesting chapters in my opinion. Maybe it's because my expectatives were low, but I felt like stakes have gotten REALLY high.

Like, at this point, a lot of characters have turned into robots: Shadow, Charmy, even Tangle. And I'll admit that Tangle's robotization scene was... emotional. Probably the best robotization scene of all.
The feeling of dread is quite intense now that the heroes seem to be at a desperate situation: Tails has lost the Tornado (saddest anime death 2019), he cannot deal with the infection without Sonic's data, Omega's body has been destroyed, Starline has now brought the Deadly Six (beings that CAN MANIPULATE MACHINERY) and Sonic about to transform into Mecha-Sonic zombot in any moment.

And I like that. But I fear that all they've been building story-wise gets solved via deus-ex-machina, and as much as I like the zombot concept, I still think it could have worked better if it wasn't handled like your generic zombie apocalypse.

Artwork is on point, as always. To me at this point the art the best quality this comic has to offer. I'll mention the great work made by Jack Lawrence (who seems to be the one drawing the most of this arc), newcomer (I think) Priscilla Tramontano in issue 22, and Adam Bryce Thomas in issue 24, giving us that manga-styled side of Sonic some of us love so much!
Also worth mentioning some really good character interactions that make me remember Ian Flynn is the one still writing, although Sega might limit his narrative skills in order to... errr... whatever Sega wants.

(BTW, do we use this thread to talk about the Tangle & Whisper mini-series too?)

  11. So...does anyone here play BanG Dream! Girls Band Party? No? Am I the only one? Okay...

It's basically like Guitar Hero, but in mobile format, and with cute anime waifus girls.
Although I don't play much. In fact, most times I just play a couple of songs and read some conversations between characters, and that's pretty much it.

    And I suck at it.

  12. Yeah, I mean, I can see the inspiration you're taking every time you make a fan-character. It's just that I really REALLY like the way you develop this super-duper cute kind of character design, and it's clearly visible that, while imitating a preexisting style, your own still surfaces from time to time.

Nothing wrong with that tho. In fact, I'd say it's a good thing, since you've made your style THAT recognisable.

So, is this site hosted in a part of the internet where time has stopped? Has our aging stopped due to us being users of this forum?

  15. You're improving your "mangartoonish" style, Shinomi-chan!

I wished you finally took your own style and made more OCs out of any fandom (nothing wrong with doing that tho), because those cutesy chibi-like designs are really appealing and nice to look at!
