Perhaps the editors are in contact with Sega directly, and only stories approved by the company can be published. I doubt that Sega is running the story themselves, but instead, they let some limited creative freedom to the authors, and then revise and edit the scripts to fit with the kind of product they want to sell. Still, whatever the process is, Sega has now more control over the comics than ever before.

(Hope this doesn't count as double-posting...) So, I've read issues 18 and 19. Still enjoying the artwork in 18, Tracy Yardley is great at drawing Sonic stuff. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. Although I've noticed some tricks to fasten his work, like Cream's face being copied in two panels. Not a great deal, but it bugged me. C'mon, Tracy, don't do that, bro. Leonardo Ito, still makes great use of flat colours (specially in a little flashback scene), but it feels a little off in some panels, considering the "darker" tone of the story. As for the script... I'll be honest, I feel the storytelling isn't really all that good. Progress is really slow or fast, each episode is just Sonic interacting with a character or a team... it's the same as the first presentation issues, but now with the infection thing going on. Also, visual storytelling isn't as drammatic or intense as it could. I don't blame the artist for it though. Heck, I feel like I shouldn't put the blame on Flynn -the writer- either. As some of you might already think, it's likely that now that Sega has more control over the comics, they are limiting what can and can't be told in these stories, or even directing the narrative structure of the issues. If that's true, I don't like where this might lead to... If it's not, what the heck is happeing? How long do we have to wait until we have a less repetitive story structure?

No idea, bro. Hope this Dylan guy shows up next and introduces himself...
-
Looking great, you sneaky snake! Because this applesauce you'll take, if I have made no mistake wonders in your tongue it'll make! And now, after this pathetic poem, let's see if Jumala shows up and makes us all forget about it..
-
You seem to suppose quite efficiently... But this time, is Dylan the one to follow this CHAOS!
-
Dylan is not here... but I am. Still, I think Seviper might lend us a helpling hand... even being a snake.
-
Huh, I like the new designs. Truly gives the impression that time has passed, but the characters are still recognizeable while keeping the elements that make them so iconic. Also, the new villain looks cute and terrifying at the same time: love that! What do you think? You're the true Steven Universe fans here!
-
Congratulations for surviving 365 days more, Skye Prower!
-
Again, Chaos reigns supreme! Perhaps Seviper might like to prove me wrong?
-
I'm combat ready! So, let's spice things up... are you there, E-467619?
-
ChaosKaiser for sure now! Will Jumala come next?
-
Now I think about it... I shouldn't have posted a Powerpuff Girls picture here, considering this is a thread for Sonic drawings!

Huh...so it's a musical. Not a surprising thing for me though. I mean, it makes sense that a movie based on a show so well-known for its songs was a musical. It's one of the best selling points of the series.
-
Wow... That's kind of a twisted concept... I mean, the destruction of the original Steven was probably played just for laughs, but when you think about it... They basically killed off the main character and replaced him before your very eyes... Although, they'll probably play it safe and make the movie take place in the main cannonical universe. Makes sense that, if the show has been working so well, the creative team continued/expanded the main storyline.
-
Are they already going to play with alternate universes? Like, why doing that if you still had to fully explore other planets' lore? Well, at least they could start calling the show Steven Universes.
-
Once again, here I am. Okay, let's spice things up... Shinomi-chan, are you there?
-
I am, Dylan, here I am. And sorry, Jumala... will you be the next one?
-
Yes, here I a--OH... oh, jeez, Jumala I... I'm so sorry, I didn't want to... oh my... C'mon, Dylan, what can I do to be forgiven? Will you be the next one here?
-
Okay, I know I'm late into this, and haven't seen much of this show, but, is the movie going to be cannonical? Is it a retelling of previous episodes? I've read that a new villain will show up, so... could it be a sequel to the series??

Thanks, gurl! But we all know Buttercup's awesome, no matter who she's drawn by. A little note that I didn't add: their hands look like that because I didn't want to separate the fingers too much, as a throwback to the "fingerless hands" the original designs had. But now that I look at them, that was a silly artistic choice...

After reading issue 17... Tracy Yardley nails the art this time: chaotic panel layouts -yet maintaining clear visual narrative- , expressive and dynamic characters and very consistent inking. Leonardo Ito as colorist makes a remarkable job too: vibrant and eye-catching colours, but adding an intense shading to keep this "darker" atmosphere the story is going for. Also, did I mention these comics officially made into Spain? So far we only got issue 1...

Maybe it's supposed to be a test of power! Those who are able to eat the full content of the bag shall be considered as powerful! Nah, seriously, what are those things made of?
-
More than one month, and no one has posted any new art here? Time to change that! Here you something sugarized, spiced that might have something nice... OOPS, Seems I accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction... The PowerPuff Girls reimagined as anime-esque characters (nothing new, I know) Still trying to get used to digital coloring. The background is a screenshot of the original TV show -so yeah, I didn't do it- and the girls themselves have some minor tweaks on their clothes (you know how much I love "minor-tweaking" already stablished desings)
-
But hey, those things don't have to taste good. I has to taste like POWER, and give you POWER. That's what the bag says anyway...

And you will fail miserably!
