I think Skyes pretfy much hit the nail on the head for me. Not that I'm finding the new characters that bad. It'll take a while to get on the same scale of characters for the new universe (especially if we keep getting crossovers)

To be honest, I don't mind dark stories myself. I've read some and they can work if done well. If done badly well... then it feels that it's dark for the sake of it rather than having a good story Just make sure if its dark you throw in some character development and best of luck
