"You really think so?"
-
Hope nodded and came back over, detailing the smaller components.
-
"If something's the matter it's no use bottling it up. I'm not here to judge," said Shadow as he started typing a report.
-
"I know. Perhaps it's best to leave it for now. We have enough problems as it is."
-
"Nothing. No symbols or statues. It was totally sparse."
-
"I'd rather not let a kid play about with this orb."
-
"No, trust me. Rouge has dodged enough traps in her time. People knew what they were doing when they built these things. I'd suggest you don't do anymore at the moment. No point endangering yourself."
-
"No arguments here. I wasn't saying her effprts should be written off." Shadow paused when he heard Melody's analysis. "Strong magic, potentially alive? Now I see why whoever made that temple left it unmarked, but why were there no traps?" he pondered aloud.
-
"That woman's gunning for a medal if her superiors are any good. She deserves a break." (OOC Oops, pm'd it to you now, sorry for the delay).
-
"That sounds like a horrible situation for the Zone Cops.," remarked Shadow.
-
"'Kiddified'?" Shadow raised an eyebrow as Hope passed the orb to Melody.
-
"Hello Melody. And I've no idea, I was hoping Hope would be able to find out." Hope studied the orb for a moment. "I don't recognise it from anywhere, but look at the stuff inside swirl around like smoke. That's not natural."
-
"Good, shall we move on to atomic theory?" joked Hope as Shadow appeared on the floor as if jumping on a grenade. He stood up and put the orb on Hope's desk. "Excuse the drama, I had a doubt in the back of my mind as to the wiseness of exposing this to chaos energy."
-
"Yes, you've got it Melpdy," said Hope. ---- After studying the orb, Shadow decided to bite the bullet and carefully pick it up, luckily not resulting in a reaction.
-
"And here are the circuits. It' s really quite simple. Especially compared to larger devices."
-
Hope laughed. "Ok, hold your horses. Let's start with something simple, the inner workings of a device." Hope pulled a small black box out of a drawer and set in on the table then unscrewed the back. "This is a advanced communications bug. Basically takes in copies of all wirelessly sent information. This little bit here is the hard drive, that's where the battery goes, and if we take out the hard drive we can get a better look at the circuitry inside."
-
"Thanks. And he did seem to." Hope decided not to mention the incident with the spy.
-
Hope grabbed her own which was in a takeaway bowl and teleported them both to her lab. "Welcome to my wondrous laboratory!" said Hope in an exagerrated voice.
-
"Good to hear. You ready to go?"
-
"Heh, maybe just a motor to start with. I'd hate to hear about that helicopter blade accidentally carving up your room."
-
Hope thought hard for a moment. " i have nothing top secret on display, and you can't exactly run anywhere. I think I can."
-
"Not really. Shadow is on mission but I've got my radio in case of emergencies. And if there is one I wouldn't be of any more use in my lab than I am here, as he pointed out."
-
Hope returned the smile. "It's what friends are for." ---- Shadow reached the object and looked it over: it was a large purple orb. "There has to be a reason for this being here. A totally barren structure just to hide one relic...." thought Shadow as he pondered why it was there.
-
Hope laughed. "Yeah, that'd get ridiculous quickly."
-
"I guess so. In a similar way I imagine some of the devices I've handled would probably freak you out, and for good reason."
