  1. Well, well... what do we have here? Some covers for Sonic Universe Issue #76, AKA Part 1 of this crossover?

    10959759_775320292544873_244218137428982 10978507_775320125878223_759881924643325

No solicitation yet, but... Axl from X7 onwards, AND the Deadly Six?! On the MAIN cover?! And the variant has Quake Woman AND Sally! Whoo!

So... when Worlds Unite officially starts, do you guys think it would be easier if we just post all the covers, solicits and issue thoughts in the Worlds Unite thread, and save these ones (STH, Boom, Universe and MM) for the non-crossover issues? I just think it will save time for those who'll be reading the crossover when it begins.

  2. Twelve issues for the last crossover felt rushed. And that was just the two basic worlds. My gut tells me this is gonna be a train wreck. Don't want it to be, but...

I'd actually disagree with that. I felt that the first crossover had enough issues, with each act having their purpose (Act 1 for introductions/obligatory hero fight, Act 2 for character interations/team-up fights, and Act 3 for pushing their limits to the max). But that's just my thoughts. The biggest flaw for me was Act 2, mostly because it was so formulaic, with each issue just being "We took out 2-3 Roboticized Masters! Yay!" Ah well, I still had a good time with WC, so I'm not too worried about WU yet.

  3. I've noticed that nothing much is happening on Earth 20XX, so I think I'll use some of those MM characters. For now, I'd like to use Fire Man, Elec Man, Metal Man and Shadow Man, if that's okay. And while I'm here, I might as well give some descriptions on how both Dr. Nega and Captain Metallix will work for this timeline:

Name: Dr. Eggman Nega (usually shortened to 'Dr. Nega' or just 'Nega')
Age: Unknown (Likely guess is that he's in his 50's)
Planet: Sol Zone (Does the planet even have a name? Maybe 'Solaris' or something?)
    Birthplace: Unknown
    Residence: Machine Labyrinth
IQ: Around 300 (He has equal, if not superior intelligence to Dr. Eggman himself)
Occupation: Building powerful machines, being a menace to the Zone Cops (and the multiverse in general).
    Gender: Male
Weapon(s): Usually carries a small firearm on him, such as a laser pistol. He also has the Egg O' War (when it's operational).
Personality: Malevolent and power-mad, fully willing to seize objects of power despite the risk to the worlds he inhabits or wishes to conquer.

Name: Captain Metallix (formerly known as Metal Sonic v3.3)
Planet: Sol Zone ('Mobius Sol', I guess?)
Birthplace: Mobius Prime (as Metal Sonic)
    Residence: Machine Labyrinth
IQ: Around 250 (after being rebuilt)
    Occupation: Metallurgy & plundering treasure.
Gender: None, though refered to as a male.
Element: Metal - His armour is designed to be both shock-proof and heat-proof. He can also function underwater, but only for a limited amount of time.
Weapons: Wields traditional-but-unique pirate weapons, such as a Laser Blunderbuss and Plasma Cutlass, which can cut through almost any kind of metal.
Personality: He speaks and acts like a pirate, but is highly intelligent. Has a fierce rivalry with Captain Whisker, and takes pleasure in tormenting his foes.
Fighting Style: He is highly skilled in the art of swordsmanship for close range fights, and is also an excellent marksman with his Laser Blunderbuss.

  4. I can't tell if this takes place before or after Universe #75, which kinda bothers me, but I'm sure it'll be clarified by the time it's out. But hey, at least we know that Sonic and Chip are together now, so we can FINALLY start the 'official', non-backstory part of 'Sonic Unleashed's plot... oh wait. Interesting to know that Knux is tagging along with the FFs for a bit. Perhaps HE's still the one tagging along with Chip, but since he needs to find the Master Emerald shards first before the world is restored, he's helping out Sonic and co., and vice versa? Who knows. As for that 'TITANIC challenge' of theirs... who wants to guess that it'll be Tails Doll? (Either that or Titan Metal Sonic returns.) Should be fun either way. But of course, just as the meat of 'Unleashed' begins, the crossover has to barge it's way in. Do you mind, Rock?

  5. The amount of covers here is staggering! Though I'll probably just end up getting whatever one they have in the shop. I find it kinda funny that this issue has Metal Sonic as the main enemy, just like Issue #50. And just like that issue, this is just before the crossover. Coincidence? ...Maybe. Anyway, I'm intrigued to learn just what on earth this issue is about. I mean, the solicit doesn't really reveal anything at all, just that Sonic and Metal fight for a Chaos Emerald, and they end up somewhere else, where Sonic has difficulty with something. My only real guess right now is that the Werehog might be involved (hence the title: 'Fury') and/or they end up in another world. (Maybe Earth 20XX?) Though I believe someone suggested that they might find a Gaia Temple, with areas where Sonic is forced to go Werehog (if you've played the PS2/Wii version of 'Unleashed', then this should be familiar to you). But then, how would that affect "Sonic's worth as a hero"?

Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait 'till April to find out...

    ...Is it April yet?

  6. Sonic Boom heads to the finish line before joining Universe, Mega Man and the main Sonic series for thier big crossover event!

    SonicBoom7-300x461.jpgSonicBoom7Var-300x461.jpg

A multi-part story? In MY Sonic Boom comic?? You got that right!

It's wacky-racin' adventure in "Everybody’s Super Sonic Racing" Part Two: Dr. Eggman’s fun and “friendly” go-kart challenge has turned deadly!  But, really, who didn’t see that “twist” coming?  Can Sonic salvage the race and prove to the bad doctor he can win fair and square?  More importantly—can Sonic survive long enough to return to the race course?! Discover the fate of life, limb and ego in this super-fast story with cover art from Sonic comic fav Jamal Peppers, and an all-new "insubordination" variant cover from painter Erik Ly! …And BOOM goes the dynamite!

Huh... kind of odd that the solicit doesn't make any reference to Worlds Unite, especially since this is the final Boom issue before it starts. Then again, this IS Boom we're talking about here, so it's probably not considered that important to them... yet. Looks interesting enough. (Also, who invited Comedy Chimp to the race?)

  7. At least it will be it's own mini-series and not throughout Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, Mega Man, AND Sonic Boom comics! lol

    Er, actually...

I don't know where the "limited series" angle is coming from - a wire got crossed somewhere, I guess.

"Worlds Unite" will be featured in the regular comics like before. I can't get into anything else - don't want to steal their thunder in NYCC - but it isn't going to be a separate limited series.

Granted, this was early in the announcement, and before Boom and X were confirmed to be involved, but he hasn't said anything deconfirming his comment since then. So as of right now: No, it isn't a separate series. It WILL be taking over STH, Universe, Mega Man and Boom next year. Sorry guys, but it's probably just easier for them that way.

  8. Do you guys think there'll be a lot of jokes with the villains? I could see the two Eggmen seeing each other as quite opposite (one shatters his entire planet, while the other contemplates eating pork chops) and Wily acting as the middle-man to the two of them (he's not as extreme as Archie!Eggman, nor as goofy as Boom!Eggman). Then there's Xander Payne, who at this point might as well be "the one guy who technically knows of each world/timeline's existence (besides Boom)". I doubt that Sigma will play a villainous role, unless the events happen just before MMX1 or after The Day of Sigma, so maybe he'll just be a supporting character? Who knows.

  9. Alright, let me just fish out the image for you guys... Ah, there we go. Here's Sticks vs. X in a staring contest:

    worldscollide2.jpg

So now it's a four-way crossover?! Boy, this is gonna be painful to keep up with. And if X is involved too... I honestly don't see anyone remembering these events once it's over. (Well, maybe Sonic and Mega Man will remember each other's worlds afterwards, and maybe the Boomverse too, but that's about it.) What I really want to know, above all else is... what kind of threat would need the combined efforts of the Freedom Fighters, Robot Masters, Boom Crew AND Maverick Hunters to defeat?!

  10. You're sure about Finitevus? If I'm correct, he doesn't fall under the Penders curse. I don't see the possibility that high, but I wouldn't put him off so soon.

Still though, I would pay money to have Finitevus back. He was one of the best villains the Sonic universe has seen.

Hmm, not sure then. But if he's not under the Penders/Writers curse, then he could be under a SEGA mandate of "no Echidnas besides Knuckles" (and Tikal, kinda). It's still a shame though, 'cause from what little I actually read of Finitevus' appearances, he was a pretty awesome villain. One of the darkest villains, for sure.

  11. I can't believe it took me this long to reply to this question, but Eggman Nega is still... around, I guess. He was referenced by Captain Whisker in 'Pirate Plunder Panic', and it was outright stated by Whisker that he and his crew are working for Nega to get the Sol Emeralds for him. However, we don't know anything else besides that. It's likely that SEGA still aren't allowing Flynn to use Eggman Nega properly yet, but from what I gathered so far, Nega is likely somewhere in the Sol Zone, giving orders to Whisker's crew while searching for the Sol Emeralds. (Though if he does appear, maybe he could salvage and repair the Egg O' War as a new base?)

  12. Shard... you better be alive buddy. cause you were AWESOME! I'll cry otherwise... and hopefully the awesome villains are still there: Scourge, Finitevus, (Trash, not sure if he counts... he's just.. well... doing the wrong thing but not really a villain...?) and what about the Zone Jail and all of the Zone cops? o_o wonder what happened to them...

Well, some are speculating that Shard might be in the next Universe arc ('Spark of Life') but it hasn't been confirmed yet. Though if he does come back, I'll be more than happy. As for the others... well, Thrash might come back someday, but it's too early to say right now. Scourge, Finitevus and the Zone Cops/Jail, on the other hand are gone for good, most definitely. Sure, there might be a VERY slight chance of a loophole being found for Scourge to 'return' to the comics someday, but it's not gonna happen. And the others definately aren't ever coming back to the comics, since they were characters created by any one of the Pre-Ian Flynn-era writers.

  13. It begins... alrighty then, here are my thoughts on Issue #1:

It was certainly a change of pace, that's for sure. I think the opening with Sonic and Co. taking on Eggman's new toy decently set up how these versions of the characters will play out; Sonic's... really not that different from his main game/comic persona; Tails' love of gadgets is much more exaggerated (to the point where he and Eggman will pause mid-battle to geek-out); Amy is basically the 'Archie Sally' of the group, though I imagine some of her more memorable traits will seep through in later issues; and Knuckles... oh, Knux. You're lucky that you're an alternate interpretation of the Rad Red, or I think I'd really hate you right now. As it stands, I'm not a major fan of Boom!Knux, so we'll see if he progresses. And then there's Sticks, our resident loony. I still find her voice a little annoying for the show and games, but since comics can't speak, that's not a problem here. I found her entertaining, and I think she works as a different kind of character from the norm.

The story? Wacky antics happen when Tails' house is robbed stolen by a Mecha-Golem. The Golem is defeated by Sonic and Co, and the house is brought back, safe and sound. So the day is... saved, I guess? Yeah, t's pretty clear that these stories are pretty much just wacky antics when you get down to it. (Then again, I'm not expecting any real character developing moments in this comic. Like, at all.) Anyway, the one constant thread in this story was Amy noting just how stupid Knuckles actually is. This actually kinda ticked me off, not only because Knuckles IS incredibly stupid in this comic (I personally think he crossed the fine line between 'funny-stupid' and 'irritating-stupid' a few times), but also because the comic seems to acknowledge how dumb he is. (I don't really blame Ian, though.)

Thankfully it wasn't enough to deter me away from Boom, but I remain skeptical for the whole side-series. Some people have said that this comic feels like a modern version of the very early Archie Sonic stories of old. I haven't read those stories (and likely never will) but I got enough enjoyment out of this comic to see where it goes next. So that's good... right? Overall, I found it to be a pretty funny read, aside from Knux's moments. Speaking of which, it appears as though Knuckles is joining Eggman! But what kind of devious schemes will they get up to together? (...Does it really matter? He'll be back with Sonic and Co. by the end, anyway.)

  14. Might as well give my thoughts on Issue #265 while it's still relevant:

That opening with the Werehog is certainly a marvel to see. I loved how reluctant and scared Thunderbolt's henchmen looked when they were being told to attack. (It's like they knew that they had no chance against him!) And then we see Thunderbolt proper... she definately seems to me like an 'all-talk-no-bite' kind of villain, which I don't think is too bad. (Though I think the neck-fur could've been a more... white-ish colour, perhaps?) Anyway, after seeing Thunderbolt's... Shock Wave, I guess (it's not very effective), we get what is probably the highlight of the issue for me. No, not Mighty vs. Werehog (though it was decent), I'm talking about the 'Werehog-Vision'! (If you have a better name for it, let me know.) It was, in a way, like a breath of fresh air, and an intereting twist for this version of the Werehog.

Having Sonic get his judgement clouded by Dark Gaia energy is certainly more intriguing to me than the game's simple handwave of "Sonic has the willpower to not be corrupted one bit". I liked seeing Sally strategize on how to stop Sonic's rampage, and the brief flashbacks to SA1 and their (new) origins was cool too. Sonic finally coming to his senses and realising the damage that he (and Mighty) caused was a decently touching moment, I thought. And finally, I think Sonic's decision to stay and learn to control the Werehog is gonna be a nice change of pace, with the Freedom Fighters going without him. But this issue still felt a little too short...

...Oh, hello there, bad backup #2. Yep, I'm gonna end up being a Nega-tive Nancy again; I didn't enjoy this backup either. The fact that it's set before 'Waves of Change' didn't help, but it all just felt so... meaningless (until maybe the very end). Okay, so we learn about a few places on the Sky Patrol, but aside from the Medical Bay, I don't see these places being explored again. And Mecha Rot--er, I mean 'War Walrus' seems like he might be--oh, never mind. It's already destroyed. (Sheesh, where's Silver Sonic when you need it, huh?) I'll admit I kinda liked the references in the Sky Patrol's weapons (namely Sonic X's 'Sonic Power Cannon'), but again, the whole backup felt pointless to me... unless that Tails Doll at the end plays a key factor in the next arc, in which case this was just boring.

So yeah, pretty much the same results as the last issue; great main story, pointless/just bad backup. Hopefully, 'Ambushed' won't fall into this trap.

  15. As I haven't said anything for 'Total Eclipse' Parts 2 or 3 yet so far, here are my thoughts:

    Issue #68

Going off what I remember, I enjoyed this issue quite a lot. The opening fight with Shadow vs. Eclipse was fun to read, with poor Eclipse still trying to reach out to Shadow. Suffice to say, they're not getting out of sibling rivalry anytime soon. The moment in-between with Knuckles, Rouge and Omega was also great, with Knux trying to justify why the machines are still there, and Rouge's discussion with him on why he's still on Angel Island in the first place. And Omega is just... well, do I even need to mention how much of a fun character he is at this point? The return of Eclipse's Monster Form was alright, even though it seemed to just be there to curbstomp Shadow at first (which was the point of that form, granted).

But then seeing Shadow use the Master Emerald to literally punch the Eclipse out of him was just... brutal! (For a Sonic comic, anyway.) Also, I couldn't help but notice that Shadow really enjoyed using the M.E.'s power for the first time. Perhaps it slightly contributed to his later decision... er, anyway. It was good(?) to see that Dr. Snively is still hatching secret plans of his own behind his master's back, even if that 'master' isn't Eggman this time. And then we have Shadow's decision of taking the Master Emerald to G.U.N. Yeah, not a good idea when you don't give Knuckles a say in the matter, OR when he's right next to you! Which leads us into...

    Issue #69 (...heh...dammit!)

Hoo boy. I don't really think there's a 'right' or 'wrong' side on the Knuckles vs. Shadow fight. It's a tough debate, for sure. But I will say this; the fight itself is awesome to read. The fact that they're surprisingly evenly matched helps, and I like how Knux shows that he isn't an idiot in battle (unlike... well, that's another comic). Though taunting Shadow by saying that "Sonic put up more of a fight" probably wasn't the brightest move. Away from the fight, I loved seeing the Dark Arms (who are officially confirmed to be part-Wisps) become useful, with Eclipse using Blurk's 'Armor' power to take out Omega even faster than in Monster Form (poor Omega), then Cregal's 'Wing' power to counter Rouge, and finally Cyzer's... 'Laser' power (they couldn't think of a different name?) to... well, intimidate them and shoot the G.U.N. Beetle. I guess Dr. Snively's out of the party, now.

Overall, I loved the simplicity of this issue, and the story seems to be heading for an awesome conclusion. Let's just hope it (and this whole 'Dark Trilogy') pays off.

  16. I highly doubt this'll result in another reboot or anything like that, nor do I see any more Genesis Waves being used. (Unless maybe it's just to connect the worlds together again. Nothing more, nothing less). Sonic's world is damaged enough as it is. My guess as to what the whole "no universe will be safe" tagline is referring to, is either:

    1) Perhaps Mega Man's world actually DOES suffer some kind of consequence after this crossover, unlike the last one.

    2) This may involve more than just Sonic's World and Mega Man's Earth. (Though I don't mean the Boom-verse or any other Mega Man timelines.)

I'm just gonna have one last theory as to who (or what) might be involved in this crossover. Potential spoilers, away!

We know that there are at least two remaining factors from 'Worlds Collide', one from each universe: Xander's time travelling in Mega Man's world, and the Wily Egg Egg O' War in Sonic's world. Ok, technically the Egg O' War is in the Sol Zone, but maybe that world could become the bridge between Sonic's and Mega Man's worlds, somehow. Whether it's through something like the Jeweled Scepter (which is said to connect Sonic's world with the Sol Zone) or some other means, who knows, but it might be possible. Of course, there is just one problem with using the Egg O' War; it's still under the ocean. So it would likely have to be repaired somehow. But if it does become a key part of the crossover, it would also get Captain Metal involved. And I think it would be interesting to see what happens to him. Would he get a new body? Would he continue to be the Egg O' War? Would he become a main villain, or at least work with/against whoever the main villains are gonna be in this crossover?

  17. After MM10? Make sense with Bass and all the Robot Masters BUT at the end of Mega Man 3 and I think Mega Man II, Proto Man forgives Dr. Light about what happened in the past and work with them togehter...and well...you can not really see that Proto Man is "happy" in Worlds Collide. There he is still the "I want to be alone"-Fighter and so I think Worlds Collide is in the mainstoryline a bit earlier than MM10. Also when Xander Payne travels through the timeline there is Gamma (MM3), Quint (MMII) and then the Worlds Collide reference.

Also there is a problem to manage because only Sonic and Dr. Eggman are remembering the crossover (or at least Eggman) and in the Mega Man Universe only Mega Man knows about the event and not Dr. Wily. So..I don't think that Eggman and Wily will team up again xP

One thing with Xander is, that he thinks that the crossover and all the things he met is in the past (so Mega Man X before MM Classics) and not in the future, so thats a little bit controverse...oh god! Time travel things and crossovers are always confusing and blow up your mind.

With Proto Man, I always presumed that after MM3, even though he becomes a trusted ally of Mega Man's, he still doesn't fully forgive Dr. Light. Not to the point where he hates him, but just... doesn't really want to speak with him much. I could be wrong, though. Proto Man's a tough one to decipher.

And WC's events have already been confirmed as taking place post-MM10. This is shown in Xander Payne's time travel from Issue #38, which specifically went in this order: Xander sees himself witnessing the Time Skimmer for the first time, then sees himself entering the machine (from the previous issue). He sees Mega Man facing the Wily Walker (from the previous page), followed by Mega Man facing Gamma (end of MM3), along with Mega Man facing Quint (MMII) afterwards. Xander then sees Dr. Wily being confronted by... someone, but gets caught in some kind of bright light (a time anomaly?). He witnesses Mega Man and [MM7] Bass destroy the time anomaly during the events of MM10 (Issue #20), and then he gets caught in said time anomaly, presumably. This is followed by him witnessing Mega Man and Sonic fighting Tails Man (Worlds Collide), before finally ending up in the year 21XX, just as X and the Maverick Hunters are facing the Wily Walker. Since the Worlds Collide scene happens after the MM10/Issue #20 scene, I think it's safe to say that MM10 had already happened at that point in the timeline.

As for characters remembering the events, well... no-one remembers them now. Mega Man and Wily never remembered them in the first place (aside from Mega Man's "Is the world okay?!" and Wily's "violent urge to stomp on a carton of eggs" lines from Issue #28), and even though Sonic and Eggman (along with Blaze, technically) remembered the crossover events at first (Tails and maybe Amy too, thanks to NICOLE), it's more than likely that they've all forgotten them by now, what with the new memories seeping in and removing all their old memories. As such, if Wily and Eggman did meet up in my first theory's future, then their conversation would likely go roughly the same as in the original 'Worlds Collide' story, minus any references to Mobius or Ra Moon.

And finally, it's true Xander thought he was going into the past at first... until he actually got into the Time Skimmer. Once he got to X's timeline, it's pretty clear he knew that he was in the future, remarking that he's glad the Emerald Spears live on into 21XX. Heck, the whole trip practically gave him even more reason to stop Mega Man; he now wants to prevent X's future (and possibly everything robot-related that he witnessed) from ever happening, and likely sees Sonic as another obstacle to overcome, if/when he arrives. If anything, Xander could most likely become a key villain in this upcoming crossover, wanting to get rid of both Blue Heroes.

While I'm here, I might as well pass on some more knowledge of the crossover, courtesy of Ian Flynn himself (via the BumbleKing Forums):

I don't know where the "limited series" angle is coming from - a wire got crossed somewhere, I guess.

"Worlds Unite" will be featured in the regular comics like before. I can't get into anything else - don't want to steal their thunder in NYCC - but it isn't going to be a separate limited series.

And there's the bombshell. Sorry BlueBlur, your source was incorrect. This'll be taking place within the main comics again, most likely just after the events of MM3 on Mega Man's world, and definately during the Shattered World Crisis on Sonic's world. I'm also gonna take a wild guess and say that Universe will be tagging along too.

  18. In terms of 'Worlds Collide' being canon to either universes, I have at least two theories as to what might happen. My first theory goes something like this:

As of right now, I believe the events of 'Worlds Collide' are still gonna happen in Mega Man's future (post-MM10), but the circumstances will be different. So rather than having Eggman and Wily meet before MM3, then using the Genesis Wave to push time forward, instead they meet after MM10's events, and just create the Skull Egg Zone to connect the worlds. From there, most of the events from 'Worlds Collide' happen as they did before, but without the constant mentioning of the Genesis Wave. The only problem with this theory is... what version of SONIC's World is used? If Genesis Waves aren't being used, then the most likely answer would be the rebooted universe. And if you're wondering why Sonic and his friends wouldn't recognise Mega Man and Co., just remember that even after Tails and Amy were zapped by NICOLE in 'Countdown to Chaos', they (along with Sonic and Eggman) forgot the old events just a couple issues later, and everyone else never remembered them in the first place (aside from Blaze, but I don't think even she remembers them by now). Just cut out any mentioning of Mecha Sally (or Break Man, I guess), add the Freedom Fighters (and some MM comic characters?) to the bunch and I think it would kinda make sense. Oh, and the finale would be different. Instead of rebooting the worlds again, maybe just have them turn Super to destroy the Skull Egg Zone and disconnect the worlds, returning everyone to their respective universes. The End.

Of course, if that's too complicated for you, then there's always this theory (which actually refers to possible outcomes in THIS crossover, so... potential spoilers?):

Perhaps 'Worlds Collide' being canon (at least, on Mega Man's side) may just end up being a plot excuse for Xander to become a main villain in 'Worlds Unite', so he's trying to prevent the two from meeting in the future (as he probably believes that it also causes the MMX future). From there, depending on how the events turn out, maybe the finale will result in the two heroes returning to their homeworlds, with their memories of this crossover either intact or removed (again), and possibly removing the original crossover events from (Mega Man's future) canon. Yes, it would technically make 'Worlds Collide' a non-canon event, but it might just clear up the confusion from it still being canon in MM's universe (as far as 'Dawn of X' is concerned). Then again, that's what happens when one universe reboots while the other one doesn't.

  19. Well, it appears Xander Payne WAS onto something in Mega Man #40, because this just popped up recently:

    BzXcGo_CUAEk55L.jpg

    Source: http://www.polygon.c...rossover-series

Yep, Sonic and Mega Man are gonna have another crossover, in Spring of next year! The article above has more details.

Judging by the teaser image, it looks like Sonic's world will still be suffering from the Shattered World Crisis (Unleashed Arc), and I'm guessing this event'll happen just after STH's 'Champions' arc, Sonic Universe's 'Spark of Life' arc, and the second half of the 'Mega Man 3' arc. (I highly doubt the Sonic Boom comic will get dragged into this.) With that said... I think it might be a little bit too early for the heroes to cross paths again (or technically, for the first time... dammit, time travel!). I mean, if it was after the Unleashed arc is resolved in Sonic's World, then maybe I could understand. But it's looking like it'll still be shattered during this event. But obviously, what I'm most curious about is HOW they're gonna meet up this time. I doubt it'll be another Genesis Wave, or another Skull Egg Zone. And it's likely that Xander's gonna be involved in some way... I guess all we can do is wait till New York Comic-Con this weekend to get more details. Anyway, what do you guys think? Awesome news, or too early?

  20. Time for my thoughts on Issue #264:

I personally think the main story was a wonderful build-up. It was interesting to see that not all of the main E-100 series are humaniod in stature, but seeing it disposed of pretty quickly was a little disappointing to me. However, that's easily made up for with Mighty and Ray's return to the comic (featuring some closer resemblances to their SegaSonic versions), and I liked how Sonic is already good friends with them. I think Moss is gonna be an interesting mentor character later on, but there's not much else I can add to that right now. And then there's Thunderbolt. First off, am I the only one who thinks her suit of armour has a resemblance to the Egg Fighters from Unleashed? (If it is supposed to look like that, then I think that's a neat little tie-in.) It surprised me that this is the first time I've seen a character who actually likes Eggman and his evil plans. It certainly adds something new to the Egg Bosses. And finally, seeing Sonic transform at last was both awesome, and surprisingly dark from my point of view. So I'd say I really enjoyed this part of the issue. I just wish there were some extra pages to flesh out the end a little more...

...Instead, those extra pages are used for what is quite possibly one of the dullest, most pointless and, dare I say, worst (backup) stories I've read in a long time! The premise: Bunnie and Antoine help out citizens of a flooded city, which coincidentely has a couple of newlyweds among them, while looking for an Emerald. They succeed, albeit with some 'near-death experiences', but don't get any Emeralds. The problem (aside from the art, which I'm not fond of) is that nothing important is accomplished. Sure, they helped all of those people escape the flood, but that could easily have happened off-panel. I mean, if they did get something worthwile out of it (maybe the newlyweds had an Emerald for something) then I guess it wouldn't have been as bad. But they don't, and neither do I. And Bunnie sobbing at the end I felt was too much, even in that situation. I understand that it was the first time these two writers have worked on the comic, but unless their storytelling improves later on, I'm not particularly looking forward to their next story, if/when they ever do come back. Hopefully Rotor won't have it as bad next issue.

Overall, a great (if a little short) main story, and a bad backup. It upsets me to have such mixed feelings. Oh well, we finally get some true Werehog action next issue!

  21. Hey guys! It's finally time. Here are the covers and solicitation for the upcoming Issue #44, the finale to (the first half of) the Mega Man 3 arc!

    4105150-megaman%2344.jpg4105151-megaman%2344var.jpg

The blue-BOMBastic conclusion to LEGENDS OF THE BLUE BOMBER is here! The battle is about to reach its shocking conclusion—or will it? Based on the legendary game Mega Man 3 comes “Legends of the Blue Bomber” part 4! Hard Man is all set to destroy Mega Man—so why is he offering his enemy a free recharge? Spark Man won’t hold back as he sets out to avenge his fallen brothers! Meanwhile, Dr. Wily puts the finishing touches on his greatest creation to date, meaning this isn’t the end of Mega Man’s battles!

Yep, this is looking like it'll likely be an 8-parter, which I'm definately down for! (Especially after just finishing MM3 not too long ago). As for the solicit, it sounds like it'll be the standard fare for Mega Man, with a couple of twists thrown in; Perhaps Hard Man has a slightly different agenda? Spark Man just sounds like it'll be an average 'final' Robot Master battle, but who knows? Oh, and Wily's 'greatest creation to date'? Yeah, I'm looking at you, Doc Robot! But that's a story for another time (and another arc).

  22. Well, I can at least update you all on this one. Here are the covers and solicitation for the upcming Issue #3: Hammer Spaced! (Heh, I get it...)

    4105109-sonicboom%233.jpg4105110-sonicboom%233var.jpg

ARE YOU READY FOR THE BOOM?! The NEW ONGOING SONIC COMIC BOOK SERIES from Archie Comics continues its frantic fun with Sonic Boom #3: Hammer Spaced! Amy’s most precious possession, her piko hammer, has gone missing! And if she can’t find it, her hammer won’t be the only thing she’ll lose! While the boys are on a hammer-hunting quest, Sticks tries to show Amy a new arsenal—but will she survive the experience?! Don't miss the exclusive tie-in comic to the new TV Show and Video Games from Sega, featuring cover art from Sonic comics legend Tracy Yardley and a special "TEAM SONIC" variant edition!

...You know when the shows you watch have filler episodes, and they're not really that memorable? Like, at all? Well to me, this issue just sounds like it'll be a 'filler episode' for the comic. I mean, it seems like the plot is laid out right there: Amy loses her hammer, causing her to go a little cukkoo. Sonic, Tails and Knux go to find it, while Sticks and Amy have wacky hijinks about getting a different weapon. Unless there's something different when it releases, this is likely one of the reasons I'm not interested in Boom. (Sorry for going off on that little mini-rant/tangent, but those are just my thoughts on all of this so far.) Anyway, what are your thoughts, guys?

  23. Once again, I've been beaten TWICE for updating you guys on the latest news! *sigh* Oh well...

As for the issue itself, it appears that the main FF crew will be taking on both comics for a few months, which I'm okay with as long as the story's interesting. And it looks to be so. Seeing NICOLE take the spotlight for a whole arc should be a lot of fun, and may even bring some surprises. I like that it'll take place on the Isolated Island (aka the opening stage of Knuckles Chaotix) and I'm intrigued on this whole 'Digital World' fiasco. Perhaps this is a good chance to reference some digital/cyber levels from the games, like Techno Base and Cyber Track from the Advance series, as well as Digital Circuit and Mad Matrix from Shadow The Hedgehog. I'm not gonna get my hopes up for Shard appearing just yet, and finally... Dr. Ellidy? Is that supposed to be a play on words (Ellidy = LED, as in LED lights) or just a mere coincidence?
