"But I haven't had any of the cake yetttttt," whined Melody, at a pitch which made Skye cover his ears.
-
"Sorry Dad, guess we were too busy trying to save the world," replied Melody sarcastically. (ooc: Just realised that Melody has been awake for a long time. And we already know that girl likes her sleep, so she's gonna get tetchy.)
-
"Well, yeah, except you were beating up were-hogs most of the time and... wait, isn't it breakfast time again now?" "Erm, I dunno. I lost track of the hours." Melody sighed at her brother's remark. "Yes, you would."
-
(ooc: I now have an image of the Futurama episode with Fry and the 100 cups of coffee. Only Melody would be laughing manically rather than serine) "You've already eaten... but wasn't that breakfast? That's was ages ago."
-
Melody stopped pacing and both kids sat down at the table. "Thank's Shadow," said Skye as his sister began wolfing down the steak. Skye gave his sister a kick under the table as he began to eat his own. "Ow! What was that... Oh! Thank you Shadow." (ooc: Melody on a sugar/caffeine high? Oh sweet merciful lord... And what on earth is her crash gonna be like? and no worries bout the late reply Shadow)
-
"Uh, ok. I'll try." Melody sat down while Skye quietly started a small timer. For a few moments Melody was still, then she bagan to fidget. Then couldn't sit comfortably. Then leapt off the chair and began pacing the room. Skye stopped the timer. "17 point four seconds. I think that's a new record." (ooc; i can't wait to see what happens when they try for a family holiday!)
-
"Cool. Hey, Shadow! How're those steaks coming on?" (ooc: From saving a planet of were-hogs to arguing round a kitchen table!)
-
"Brilliant. First thing after dinner then."
-
"Ok, when your better. But how about that story then?"
-
"Really?" Melody's face acquired a wicked grin, "Care to do a bit of teaching?"
-
"I really don't understand. But I suppose we'll have plenty of time to debate. But, ok Dad. We'll do it your way." "What? Skye, you give in to easily."
-
"But magic still requires effort. You still need to set it up, make sure it will work properly. The right location. What's the difference between putting a bucket of water on top of door, or a magic charm the summons water when the door is opened. Heck, the charm would take more effort to set up."
-
"Magic is cheating? Huh, how is that? Is it cheating when I use it for cooking too?"
-
"Oh don't worry Dad, we won't do anything thaaaaat bad."
-
"No pranking in the house? But..." "Don't worry Melody. We've got the whole island to play with." Melody broke into a grin.
-
"Aww Dad, that's not fair." "It won't happen again. It was only because we got into a little prank war. We know better now."
-
"Oh we've already got cookies to snack on. Just waiting on the main course." "Uh, well, you see... There's a reason why Melody and I don't prank each other..." "You see, both Skye and I used to our magic to prank each other a lot..." "Over time our pranks just escalated and escalated..." "And, well, the lingering magic started to interact with each other..." "The effects began to get out of control..." "Poor Simian. He was such a good butler." "There's a wing of the castle we still can't go into."
-
"What do you mean? We've been standing here the whole time. Waiting for own steaks." "Enchanting doesn't kill anyone either. Well, except for that one time when Melody and me.... and that really wasn't a death so to speak."
-
"I am a cook. Cooking, potion making, enchanting. It's all about following a recipe while making slight alterations for your own taste."
-
"Okay Shadow, once we've finished cooking for everyone I can show you a few mobile recipes and cooking techniques."
-
"I've learned a few good things to cook while on the road. Being able to cook kept me going a bit when... anyway, if you want I could teach you them, save you and Rouge having to cause a whole room to go silent. But I'm surprised you'd have that effect... Ok, maybe not you, but Rouge anyway."
-
"So I guessed with the steaks and the waffles this morning. Wow, that seems like weeks ago, doesn't it? But I imagine you don't get much time to practice with your work."
-
"I've nothing against him having a hobby. It's that once he get's started he won't shut up!" Sure enough, Skye was still talking away about cakes of differing types, even if no one was listening. "As for my hobby, ermmmmmm.... I like darts."
-
"It's the chocolate alternative of the Angel Food cake," Skye explained as he began. "Both are very light sponges. One plain, one chocolate. If you want I could make both so you can compare?" Melody cupped her face in her hands. "Oh no, you got him talking about food. He'll prattle on for hours. I prefer it when he goes all silent and blinkered with his tech."
-
"Cookies are snacks, not desserts. Let's see, do we have what I need for a devil's food cake in here?" Skye began to rummage in the cupboards, pulling out bowls and ingredients.
