Skye Prower

"Maybe. Or something that SHOULD be but isn't. I really don't know," replied Skye, looking slightly distressed. Then the fanfare began. Melody entered the throne room followed by her mother. She looked a little nervous at first, but when she saw the size of the crowd her face split into a grin and she walked confidently towards the throne. (ooc: anyone know how a crowning ceremony is meant to go, I've no idea so will probably montage it) ------------- "Not all the time, but sometimes you do this 'wise old cryptic man' thing, and its really funny."

Melody turned to face Hope, and suddenly gave her a warm hug. "Thank's Hope. It's great to have a friend with me today. I was scared about doing it alone." Mina took a hold of one of Melody's hands and gave it a comforting squeeze. "I'm proud of you Melody." Melody smiled, then turned to the door to the throne room. "Here we go," she murmured as outside a fanfare started up and the door swung open.

"I'm used to carrying my burdens alone. But it's nothing I can pin down. Something is just... wrong. I don't know who or what. And yet, it feels a familiar kind of wrong." ---------------- "Uh, I'm sure there is, um..." "Here you go," said Mina, suddenly appearing behind the two and handing Hope a slip of paper. "I guessed you might ask Hope to take part so I came prepared. You girls ready?" -------------- Ziona just giggled at Glens words, it was hard to tell if she actually took in there meaning or not. "You talk funny and fancy sometimes Glen. But if you wanna choose a song, just ask the DJ."

"Because it's better than burdening you with my suspicions, especially if I'm wrong. I don't want you to worry over what could be nothing," -------------- "Hmm, I think you just pretend to have fun, cause you ain't allowed to do real fun stuff anymore."

"I... I don't want to say Tikal. I don't want to spoil anything for you or Melody. Besides, it's just a feeling, nothing more." ------------------ Ziona's father laughed. "True, very true." Ziona tutted. "Rwally, why can't old people just have FUN?" she asked, shaking her head.

"I..." Skye shook his head, ears starting to twitch. "Nothing's wrong Tikal," he lied, "Just enjoy the ceremony." -------------- "We might not need it, but it would be nice to have it!" "DADDY! GLEN!" Ziona cried from the dance floor. "There you are. Were you two standing out in the rain all this time?"

Skye sat down next to Tikal. "I'm really thrilled for Melody, she's been dreaming of this day all her life. Ever since I can remember she's been counting down the days till she was fifteen..." Skye stopped and looked confused. "Wait... that's wrong, she is fifteen, she looks fifteen, she should be fifteen.... yet it's wrong..." he muttered under his breath. ----------------------- "Sadly I am. Where does all that youthful energy go?" he asked as they entered the hall, where the disco was in full swing. Ziona, Zave, and several other kids, were happily dancing as the music played.

"Fantastic. Let's get this show on the road."

"There we go, there's a couple of seats up front." ------------- "Well, I would love if you could be my official handmaiden. There not much too it, mostly handing over the regalia. But there are a handful of line to say as well... I think. Don't worry, there will be an order of service to follow." ------------- "We're just older and slower compared to them," he grinned.

"I would like you to take part, but only if you want to. After all, a lot of people would be watching, and I don't want to force you into it."

"We'll get changed, then head to the throne room. If you want we can find you a role in the ceremony, or you can just watch."

Skye led Tikal through the castle towards a massive throne room, where a multitude of guests were already seated. "Wow, I hope there are seats left," marveled Skye -------------------- "Its a scary thought, but they grow up so fast. Seems only yesterday I was rocking her to sleep in my arms."

"Follow me, I'll show you the way." --------------- "You know, I'm not sure if they'd even be safe then," he replied, not hearing Glen's muttered comment. "Unless they be taken by Zave. I don't think she'd ever want to hurt her best friend."

"Let's head to the throne room, get ourselves a front row seat." -------------- "Great. Saves us having to worry about magicing you up a dress," said Melody as she picked out a dark green dress for herself. "More fancy than I would normally like, but for a day like this you've gotta look the part." ------------- Ziona's father laughed. "That girl has a way of getting what she wants. When she grows up, heaven help any man she sets her sights on."

"I think we both were. Let's stop being so contemplative and just enjoy the celebrations," said Skye. ----------------- Melody entered her oversize bedroom and headed for the equally oversized wardrobe. "If we can't find something that fits, choose something you like the look of, and we can ask Skye to either enchant it to fit, or enchant your cloths to match it," suggested Melody as she searched for an appropriate dress for herself. "I could try and do that, but the way my magic is I'd probably just end up setting something on fire." ----------------- "No problem. Now, I better go and check on Ziona."

"I'm sure we'll find something," said Melody with a smile as she led Hope off. "We're around the same height so that's a start. "Sorry, I don't know where I was going with that. Didn't mean to dampen the mood." Skye apologized to Tikal. --------------------- "Best of luck to you then." (ooc: I wonder if he'd be so friendly if he knew who!)

"And an end," murmured Skye thoughtfully as the fireworks began to fade into the night sky. "Aww, thanks Hope," said Melody with, for once, a slightly bashful smile. "And it won't be too long before I get to wear the real one." "You better get changed into something more regal Melody," Mina told her daughter. "The official ceremony is next." "Sure thing Mom. Hope, do you want to change into something more fancy too?" --------------- "A possible future Mrs Glen then? Or are you still an open bachelor?

"Oh yes, very impressive," Skye agreed. "Though I didn't know Mom could do magic." --------------- "I assume from that there isn't a 'Mrs Glen' then?"

The fireworks continued, adding an image of a crown to the portrait. "Okay, this is just going over the top now," Skye commented. Melody shot him a huffy look. "Well, I like it!" "You would!" ----------------- "If you don't have children of your own, I can't really explain. But I will say you are missing out."

"Unexpected that it happened, not unexpected that Melody would have wanted it," said Skye to Tikal Melody was too delighted to actually say anything. ----------------- "That's a shame, a real shame." (ooc: And off to bed now, See you later)

"Oh, enough talk, we're missing the show. I'm sorry for distracting you from it." Over at the balcony, Melody squealed with delight as the fireworks exploded to form a massive portrait of herself in the sky. Skye just glanced at his sister, one eyebrow raised with amusement. (ooc: More I was just trying to un-nerve people with some possibilities...) -------------- "Do you have kid's of your own?" he asked Glen.

Mina smiled. "You're right Tikal, the past should cast a shadow over us, its the future that is important." She hugged the Echidna. "See, I told you Skye was in good hands" "Wow, did you see that one?" asked Melody pointing. "I think we're just about to start the big finial now!" (ooc: Now why would the Dream Mina act this way? Does one or both of the kids, rather than having a mother who always loved them, would prefer their mother to have learned she was wrong? Is this a sign of their subconscious trying to force the truth out. Or is Mina somehow in the dream also, either her future or present persona...???) ----------------- Ziona's father glanced at Glen. "I suppose your right, I will be proud no matter what she does."

Mina shook her head. "I treated Melody as if she was a trainee, not my daughter. And Skye... I still regret what I did to him. I'm trying to make it up to them now but," Mina sighed heavily. "You said that a Mother knows her child best. That may be true, but since they came back... it's like they're two completely different people." ------------------ "I hope she does follow in our footsteps. Nothing would make me prouder than to see my little girl wearing the uniform of the Zone-Cops."

"I suppose that is true, but..." Mina sight and turned to look at Skye and Melody as they watched the fireworks. "...sometimes I feel I should have been a better Mother for them." ------------------ "Thank you Glen. Now I suppose I should head inside and she what trouble that girl of mine is getting up to."

"Aren't they, aren't they!" Melody replied to Hope, happily hugging her while still watching. "This is way better than I'd even imagined." "I do what I can for Skye too, but I think now he in far better hands," Mina said to Tikal. ------------------------ "Shh, not a word. It's a surprise. Just in case it doesn't work out as well. Don't want to get her hopes up."
