Skye Prower

A robot swooped up behind Dominic, trying to zap him in the back with a stun rod. While the main bodies of the robots looked sturdy, the connection of their wings to the body seemed to be the most vulnerable spot. The one robot flying towards Stacey suddenly halted with Sarah heading straight for it, but two more swooped down towards Stacey and Ally. Some of the robots tried to grab Lance, they seemed unsure if he was classed in the 'children' category or not. The robot swooped back from the blow from Fenn, one of it's wings badly dented. Both Ziona and Seviper were leaving a trail of scrap metal behind them as they closed on where the children were. Above the Husky, some of the robots broke off from the main swarm, and swooped down towards her. --------- "I hope they bring those hostages up soon..." muttered Eggman as he watched the unfolding fight.  "I'm starting to run out of Swarm Bots."

Zoe tried to fight back too, but a blow to her head caused her to slump, as a group of robots swarmed against Dominic.   "Sawah!  Cwome bwack!" called Stacey, unsure whether to try to protect her of Ally.  Distracted, a blast from a robot slammed into Stacey, stunning him.   Another robot swooped in, trying to grab Fenn. "YOU BRING MY DAUGHTER BACK!" cried Ziona, but the robots tried to block her and Seviper from reaching the children.

The robots closed in on each of the children, trying to grab them.  Stacey stepped back, trying to protect both Ally and Sarah. "It's Eggman," said Ziona to Zangoose. "He must be launching a direct attack and..... THEY'VE GOT MY LITTLE GIRL!" ------ Looking down, Eggman frowned.  "What's with all these children?  Did those doddering Echidnas open a day care?  Or did they just get really bored in the Twilight Cage?"

Zoe struggled against the robot's grip, but they were too strong for her.  She tried to use the wind to blast them away, but in her agitated state all she managed was to blow them a little off course. Stacey gasped as he ran outside, looking up.  "WET GWO OF MWY FWIENDS!" he shouted. ------------ "Oh ho ho!  You know, it's dangerious to have little children running around during a fight," grinned Eggman evilly as he watched the battle unfold from the airship.  He opened a com-channel.  "Robot, bring those children in for 'safe-keeping'.  And then maybe Haven will stop interfering with my affairs!"

Just read Issue 5. Spoiler free views here.  After the lackluster first four issues, I wasn't confident.  And the 'Previously' and 'rollcall' pages are *bleep*ing awful and lazy. But the story itself... This should have been the second issue, not the deja vu reused cookie cutter plot with no story we've had so far.  The actual story kicks in, there's some good character moments for Sonic (something that was lacking) and interesting mystery, an actual development to the voice in the chair beyond just being a voice in a chair, and it's still good fun. So, all in all, it looks like the series is stepping up it's game now.  Let's hope it continues.

Some of the robots tried to make a grab for Zoe, others closing in on Lance. ------- "We've gwotta fwind thwem!" cried Stacey, running out. "Wait!  You could get into trouble too!" called Ziona, hurrying after.

"Dommy?  Oh thank you!" smiled Zoe, trying to hug him, as some of the robots started closing in on them, other's opening fire towards Lance. --------- "I.. dwunno.." said Stacey as Ziona ran in, looking around frantically.  "Do you know where Zoe and Fenn are?  And Dominic?"

Zoe shrieked a little as Dominic caught her, being unable to see him. -------- "I... dwon;t know... bwu' I thiwnk it mweans bwad gwuys!" said Stacey. ---------- "The kids!" Ziona leapt to her feet and started sprinting through Haven, calling the children's names.

Stacey jumped, and almost immediately formed a flame-katana in his hand, looking around for a threat. -------- Zoe tried to maintain her flight, but with her injured wing she began to plummet towards the ground. ------- Ziona bolted awake.  "Given how much bad stuff happens here without an alarm going off, this must be pretty drastic!" 

"Er... Thwanks?" replied Stacey. ---------- Zoe managed to dodge most of them, but one clipped her wing and she let out a scream. ---------- "I guess like..." Ziona's words were interrupted as an alarm went off all over Haven.  

"O-okay," said Stacey, starting to smile back. ---------- Seeing the two children approaching, the swarm of robots opened fire. ------- "Always hungry!" giggled Ziona sleepily.

"I...uwh... dwidn't mwean twoo!" said Stacey ---------- "If they're gonna stay flying, we need to!" said Zoe, taking off and flying towards the swarm.

"I... I nwot sqweaky!" Stacey insisted. ----------- "I think you might need to fly after all," said Zoe, looking at the robots. ---------- "Huh... w-what?" yawned Ziona sleepily.

Stacey gave a nervous squeak. ------------- "Yeah... we better get ready to fight," said Zoe as the shapes came into view, a swarm of aggressive robots.

"N-nowthwings wwong!" Stacey insisted. --------- "I dunno..." said Zoe, tensing.  "But I dun' like it."   As if to drive the point home, there was a sudden, growing rumbling sound, as several smaller objects seemed to fly out of the large craft.

Stacey looked down again and went back to his juice. ----------- Above the kids, high in the sky, a large airship was blocking the light from the sun.

Stacey smiled back, the started drinking his juice.  "Suwe you dwun wan one?" he asked Sarah again. -------------- "Are you sure?" asked Zoe as a shadow fell over the pair.

"Nwo.." Stacey replied a little evasively as he poured Ally a glass. ------------- Zoe landed, taking Dominic with her.  "I got so excited... I forgot you were earthy."

"Okway..." said Stacey a little sadly to Sarah, then he turned to Ally.  "I wike thwe waspbewwy," he smiled, pouring himself a glass. ----------- "OH!"  Zoe's eyes went wide as she looked down a little.

"What dwo you wanna dwink?" asked Stacey as he came back to the table. ---------- "Why not?" asked Zoe  

Stacey opened the fridge and brought out several bottles of fruit juice. ------------ "Wanna go higher?" grinned Zoe.

Wow!  That will keep you busy!  Hope you managed to get some time to rest at least today.

"Awight," grinned Stacey, hurrying to the kitchen. ---------- "You won;t fall!  You're flying too!" grinned Zoe.  "And I've got your hand!"

And THAT'S why trying to sort out cannon is like trying to untangle a concrete octopus.
