  1. Your Internet Speed

You both have very good Internet connections high bandwidth and low latency, the likes of which I have never experienced because I live in the third world country or something. For comparison, Shadow, I have an upload and download speed 1/5 of yours, and with a little above twice the latency. The Netherland's (heck, most of Europe's) connections are notoriously good (though last I checked South Korea and Japan had even better connections). PixeliousFox: Your connection is also great, and seems to be a symmetric (or was it synchronous?) connection (similar up and down bandwidth, meaning you can run some file servers or other such things).
  2. What web browser do you use

I use Firefox, though sometimes I'll use links. It's actually the only open-source browser, though Chrome is open-source with certain unknown additions by Google added in. Plus, the Mozilla user experience devs seem pretty cool from the AMA they did on Reddit a few months ago, and I really like its tab grouping feature. Opera had its good points, but it's now basically a repackaged Chrome, which is sad because it was the only really nice proprietary browser. It's of honorable mention, but some of you might want to check out this proprietary browser on Windows called Sleipnir. It can use multiple rendering engines, but that feature is not unique to the browser. It also has a great and interesting tab grouping feature that.
  3. What operating system do you use

I really enjoy the speed, customization, and security of Linux. Additionally, it has great opportunity for "ricing," (although that term may have roots in a racial slur, citation needed). You can use a variety of desktop environments, the most popular being KDE, GNOME, Cinnamon, MATE, Xfce, and LXDE, but also an even larger amount of window managers, my all-time favorite being the Awesome window manager. At the advice of NeKit, I started using Gentoo and have settled on it as my distribution of choice for a year or so now, though I still use other distros for special purposes (networking, generally). That said, Windows 7 is pretty nice, aside from the price and the insecurity of it being proprietary, which really doesn't affect most of us, for gaming. For all except the high-end games, I run it in a virtual machine for any time I want to play/read a game. Compared to earlier versions, it's much nicer and has very good security features, though irritatingly the home editions don't have a group policy console or the like. Windows 8, from what I've tried of it, isn't too bad for most users, but it's pretty insecure. It's tough to find a way to actually shut it down, and any organizational work on it is a hassle. To those of you running Windows XP: you should be very careful, it's not very secure. Microsoft is only providing support until April 2014, so less than a year, so if some sort of remote exploit comes out after that, you're almost sure to get something bad very often.
  4. Introduction Thread

Man, "S. Theodore Rainbowdash" is such a sophisticated name. You could get some serious recognition with that name. You could run for mayor. You could be president, man. Just think of it right now. "President S. Theodore Rainbowdash." Whoa; dude, you could be an author. "S.T. Rainbowdash." It has a ring to it. You could write Harry Potter. No, you should write Harry Potter. Do it. Write Harry Potter again right now. Joking (or not?) aside, welcome to the forums. I'm the resident user named Fwiss here, and also the English SCANF's administrator sometimes. I hope you enjoy your stay here.
  5. Last to post wins v3.0

Man, crazy idea here, but I wonder if SEGA could pull off a mad bird-based plot-twist. Like, Jet, Wave, and Storm were all Flickies Sonic saved in Sonic 3D Blast grown up, and they don't remember Sonic because they were so young, but they had a vague need for speed.
  6. Last to post wins v3.0

School is such a massive time sink. I can feel my hours slipping away. How do I get more hours?
  7. General Anime/Manga Thread

It's amazing how many words you can pick up in Japanese, given there are subtitles and the use the word in many different cases.
  8. Sonic Winter Adventures

Is this release the same release as the Hacking Contest 2013 version?
  9. Strange Dreams

Wow, you've all had some strange dreams, but I guess dreams are, by nature, emotionally powerful. Most of my dreams that I can remember are from when I was younger. As this is a Sonic forum, I actually had a very strange Sonic dream one time, far before I learned to fear the real-world threats. I was a freedom fighter, either myself or Tails (my favorite character because of how I could identify with his need to be taken seriously as a child), and my superior (Tails or Sonic) had been captured. I was deep in Robotnik-controlled territory of some kind, inside a massive building, which seemed to be a large skyscraper/underground base. Point was, it was basically a secure, locked down city dedicated to warfare and filled entirely with robots. Basically, I was in a wide-open city area, and I knew if I was found, I would die, or worse. It looked like I was the only one, other than my captured superior, who was there. I assume I was on some kind of recon mission or something, but the strange thing about this dream was the pervasive mood of terror and helplessness. I was an unarmed child, and I couldn't even damage one of those adult-sized robots, and I almost definitely had no way to escape. There was no feeling of exhilaration at being deep in enemy territory, only fear. As a matter of fact, maybe the rest of the freedom fighters had been rounded up and killed or something, and I was just waiting to die. By the way, how about those dreams where you obtain something and then you wake up and realize it was all a dream. This happened to me with a video game that didn't actually exist, and with the ability to breathe underwater. Man, it's so disappointing. Why would I do that to myself?
  10. Your favorite Gaming Quotes.

  11. Sonic X

I can't remember the last time I watched a show that was dubbed in a language I can understand. That includes shows that were available dubbed in a language I understood. I think the last dub I watched was the Higurashi English dub, which wasn't bad, but the Japanese voice + subs were just better. Though I wonder what Sonic sounds like in Japanese...
  12. Touhou

Hmm, Touhou 14 has been out for a few hours now. So, what was ZUN thinking on the Stage 5 boss's spell cards?
  13. Music thread

Oh man, I actually love The Beatles. They have a sound like no other. And Shadow, on the subject of metal, have you checked out Machinae Supremacy? They're one of my favorite western metal bands, though I've been getting into some Nordic metal such as Fejd, Vintersorg, and Turisas. IRON CHINO, Demetori, Crow's Claw, and Ryu-5150 are a few who have some nice Touhou metal, if you want to listen to some of that. Right now, I cannot wait to hear the rest of the Touhou 14 soundtrack.
  14. The obligatory "Post your Desktop" thread

What are the chances, Shadow? We both have a PSP folder on our desktops. I guess there's nowhere else to put them
  15. Last to post wins v3.0

I never bring a drink to school, got stones because I almost never drank anything. Learned the true meaning of pain. Drink water, do not end up like me. *Flops to the ground dramatically*
  16. The obligatory "Post your Desktop" thread

Oh, sorry. It still displays for me, but, the link is this: http://postimg.org/i...aar1rau9h/full/ EDIT: Man, that link URL is probably the most frustrated-sounding one I've ever seen.
  17. General Art Thread

Well, I just remember I had this image, might give you a laugh. Might belong in the screenshot thread, though.
  18. Touhou

I can imagine somebody slowing down Touhou, putting a timer on, and making a note of the exact time each enemy spawns, how many, where, etc.
  19. Touhou

Hmm, mapping out Touhou? I'd think it's a bit tougher than mapping out Sonic 2's special stages. EDIT: Listening to any Touhou bands?
  20. Sonic Lost World

So, any idea how the Color Powers got back in? I mean, didn't the Wisps go really, really far away? Well, I guess if Eggman can catch them once, he can do it again. Wait, why do they insist on adding a Casino Level, anyway? I have not ever enjoyed a casino level. Is it some kind of running gag with the design team now?
  21. Touhou

There is almost nothing random in Touhou. I guess I should memorize the enemy locations, durations, etc. It was easier to memorize the UFOs in Touhou 12: UFO.
  22. Touhou

I have to wonder if the pro players are actually, you know, counting the number of items onscreen or something, though I guess they memorize the stage more than anything.
  23. Touhou

So in terms of those new mechanics in Touhou 14, do you think it's better to go for the items every time you can get them at 0.5, or try to wait until they get to 2.0 for an insured life up?
  24. Touhou

No, just -- Well, the first Cirno Day was on 09/09/09.
