My first (and only) shiny I ever encountered was in Emerald I was randomly going through that tower that disappears and reappears constantly and that you need a bike to go in. My friend was playing next to me. I randomly encountered a shiny Sabeleye. Having never encountered a shiny before I was confused and showed it to my friend. He then told me how amazing it was and that I needed to catch it at all costs (even though I already had a Sabeleye) So I did. The way my friend was talking made me really nervous about making sure it didn't faint. Even though I'd caught other Pokemon in that area already without a problem
