Skye - I would absolutely recommend the Tales games to you. I got a feeling you will certainly enjoy these games, based on story and characters alone. And even then, there's still the battle systems which is great. However, the question is, which one? I will mention first that it is not equal to your preferences. The characters are only customizable to a certain degree, mostly cosmetic. The only game that differs is Radiant Mythology, but I wouldn't recommend that one as a first game. Also, there currently is no game that allows you to play with more than 4 characters in a battle. However, each game has at least 6 characters, reigning to currently max 12 (excluding Radiant Mythology, which has around 60 I suppose). However, like I said before, the story and characters are fenominal. And basically, these games are as difficult as you want them to be, but to make it more safe: every game has a difficulty setting. The settings are most of the time medieval with huge emphasis on fantasy and a tiny bit of sci-fi. The age really depends on what you want. The franchise started in 1995, and is still running. So let's get to my choices for now: Since you would like a game on the 3DS, Tales of the Abyss would be my first choice, while being a great introduction to the franchise at the same time. It still remains as many people their favorite Tales game (most of the time even RPG) and it's not hard to see why. The Wii has barely to no Tales games, but you can play the gamecube version of Symphonia. The story and characters are great but... it's a bit outdated if you ask me. Still a great game though. You can also try out Phantasia on the GBA (the first ever game), but... the gba version kind of sucks if you ask me. At least, if you have played other Tales games before. I'm a Tales fanboy though, but I can definitely recommend some other games too: - Bravely Default (3DS): One of the best RPG's/games the system has seen yet. There's a demo on the E-shop, so I would definitely recommend checking it out. 4 characters total, fully customizable by means of Job systems. - Etrian Odyssey IV (3DS): I haven't played this one since... I'm still playing the first one and I can't stand it. I have played the demo which did hook me for the game. Guess I'll need to pick up 1 again sometime, it deserves a chance at the very least. - Final Fantasy III (DS/Phone/Steam): I didn't really like this game, but it follows your entire description. Well, almost. This game requires, no, demands you to grind. This game isn't difficult, but it does create the illusion of difficulty. On that note, I could also recommend IV, which is definitely the better of the two. - Child of Light (Wii U/Steam): Funny how the Wii U barely has any rpg's, making this one one of the best on the system. But eh, it's a really great game nevertheless. I might come up with a list of games for you later, NMS.

It's definitely worth the wait. I don't care what the critics and dinasty warriors haters say, I love this game.

It is at the very least strange. Cut man even made appearances in Mega Man 8 (correct me if I'm wrong) and Mega Man X8. So why isn't he here? Oh well, at least Elec man is here :3

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk - Backloggery's fortune cookie kept recommending Ni No Kuni to me. And we all know how that ended. Soo, after a few more tries, this one was the ultimate result. I was kind of hoping for this one to be chosen, since I don't have any experience with the Atelier games yet, and I'm not in the mood to play Hyperdimension Neptunia first. Soo... hai. Only started this game up so I don't have any progress so far. 2 hours in, and I can say it's a loveable and attractive game. Much better than Ni No Kuni, which I still can't like.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile - Told ya I would finish it in 2 days. I didn't lie. Good game though, I loved it. And I don't really have more to say, sorry. Tales of Xillia (Jude's Story) - Mhm... Let me get straight to the point: Xillia is a good game, and the moment you hear me say otherwise, you are allowed to punch me. However... the game just felt boring (or at the very least, to feel like forever) until somewhere halfway. And unfortunately, the most interesting part is also the shortest part of the game. But that's also how I felt about Vesperia soo... It's just a small nitpick. The ending really felt rushed though, and I wasn't really that satisfied when I finished the story. The characters were pretty good. It felt just like Phantasia, where all characters just felt so good. It's hard to compare the two but eh. Combat was pretty good. It might have just been an upgrade from previous battle systems in the franchise but hey, it was great to begin with, and every addition is well appreciated. Don't really have that much to say here soo... hai. I'm terrible at ranking the Tales games, but I'll try... 1. Tales of Graces F 2. Tales of Phantasia 3. Tales of the Abyss 4. Tales of Eternia 5. Tales of Vesperia/Xillia 7. Tales of Symphonia Haven't played the other games enough to give them a a spot. And I don't dislike Symphonia. I just like the others more.

Happy birthday, hope you have a nice one :)

Yeahh, that's enough spam for today. Calling a quit on it right now, otherwise I'll close the thread.

Hmmm... Dark Pit should have been an alt. F*ck the Duck Hunt Dog. Really, f*ck him. And what is the deal with THIS? They downright mentioned that it will be very similar to Olimar. Then why the hell isn't he a skin or something? Am I seriously the only person alive who think half this roster is trash?

Everybody calls me the Happiest person alive. And I can see why. I'm also a dullard, though the translation does not exactly mean the same as the Dutch one, which has a whole different meaning.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile - I have a very terrible memory. I know that I have played this game as a kid when I still owned my PS1, but that's literally all I know. And that I love Klonoa but that's beside the point. Since I'm going to school again, I needed some new games to play during the lessons/breaks. So I'm starting with some platformers, because they aren't too long and have great nostalgic value to me. I will be playing this alongside Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, but these will have to wait. But I don't think it will be very long until I've beaten this game, since Monday and Tuesday are my longest days at school. Completed Spyro the Dragon - The second in my platformers replaying list thing. Klonoa was a good game which I really enjoyed, and it gave me back many nostalgic feelings of zis past. And that's exactly what I'm feeling with this game, though I currently prefer Klonoa. I might even aim for 100% completion, something I seldom do in platformers. Which is a good thing.

Tales of Phantasia (PSX version) - Remember when I said Phantasia was one of the Tales games I had already beaten? Yeah, I lied. Well, it wasn't really that extreme. I was in the super/extra dungeon and could basically challenge the final boss already at any moment I wanted (really good final boss by the way). There were just some other things that had a priority and I kind of forgot about it. But eh, Phantasia is a good example of a game that has aged perfectly. The story and characters are great, especially Cless. I also like how this game did a staggering job on being one of the first games that took on a different battle system, and did it really good. Sure, the later 2D games do a better job but this is the first game after all. If you ever want to play Phantasia though, try everything you can to play either the SNES version or this one (a translated PSX version, by the great people that are Absolute Zero). The GBA and mobile phone ports are bad. Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Not really 100%, I'm not in the mood for those minigames. Maybe some other day, not now. So yeah, I said before that I still wanted to get more into Kirby. That said, this game.. still didn't really convince me. Although I still want to play more games... weird. It's a big step up from the first Kirby game, especially with the animals. They allowed for so much more attacks and ways to complete a level. That was a really fun idea if you ask me. And while Kirby music is mostly reused throughout the games, I find this one rather impressive for an original game boy music piece. Oh, and if people love Kirby so much for the bosses... then I completely understand you.

So yeah, I thought It's time the Tales of franchise got more love. Here you can discuss anything related to the Tales of franchise. For the people who don't know what I'm talking about: the Tales of games are Japanese action RPG's which are focussed on both awesome characters and story, while having a great gameplay mechanic too. I have played a lot of Tales games, but... I can't really tell me favorite. It's quite difficult. So I split them up in two: 2D and 3D Tales games. My favorite 2D Tales game is either Eternia or Phantasia. Actually, there is something that I wanted to mention. Eternia has what Phantasia lacks and vice versa. Phantasia had a great story and characters, while Eternia had the best gameplay. My favorite 3D Tales game is either Abyss or Graces F. Both have great gameplay (Had to get used to Graces F though) and a great story of course. Oh, and the first person who can find my avatar in the picture above gets a cookie.

I won't spoil anything, but I'll go more detailed in my experience with Eternia: For me, Eternia has the best gameplay out of any 2D Tales game. Unfortunately the story and characters, while still great, are less impresive than it's predecessors. Still though, Tales games have a better story than most other RPG's, though I'm not sure if this game will convince you with that. But it's still a great game. I once made a whole post thingy about Phantasia and Eternia. If you have nothing to do for the rest of the day, feel free to read it :3 (Oh, and let me note something before we move on: Tales game were the first games out there that used this battle system. Sooo... thank grandfather Namco Bandai for giving us this gift of Valhalla and indirectly more games that used this battle system!) The gameplay has only been better ever since Eternia, especially the 3D games. A special mention to Graces F, which has for me the best battle system in any rpg ever. This guy sums it up best.

I already wished Dylan a happy birthday yesterday, but I didn't wish you one yet. Sooo happy birthday!

Mario is the most popular franchise out there, so it's only justified that he would get a thread. So yeah, this is the general thread to discuss anything related to the mario franchise! (Spin-off games may be discussed in a different thread, but I leave that up to you)

No, THIS is a combo breaker. [media=] I gave you people the chance to have my mercy, but you didn't use it. So here, have another chance. Post at what times my avatar appears and I'll show mercy on you next time!

Tales of Xillia - (: I could just stop there since everybody here knows how much I love Tales games. But eh, I just can't like Ni No Kuni, how much I try. Because I want to, believe me. Oh well, I'll pick it up another day, Xillia time now. I'm starting with Jude's playthrough since literally EVERYBODY suggested me to do so. Apparently Milla's playthrough is a bit difficult. I have played and finished Graces F, which people compare to Dark Souls (which is a bit extreme if you ask me), on the second to highest difficulty. But eh, I'll trust you guys on this.

Boooooooooooooooooooring.... Here, have an amazing fanmade video. [media=]http://youtu.be/OiKF_h6KhuQ Oh yeah, back to 0. But if any of you can find my avatar in the video and tell at what time he appears, I'll show mercy on you next time. (He appears a total of 2 times. But most likely you can only find him once because the second time he only shows his weapons. So if you come up with 1 time, that's fine by me.) Post your results down below (:

Going to be this annoying moderator again, but I have to point something out. We usually changed member titles (well, I did anyways) as some kind of reward for your participation on the forum. I'm not planning to make this a habit. It's something I might work with in the future (new ranks etc.) but changing titles is not something I want to do without reason. After all, there's a reason only Staff and Advanced Members can change it. My apologies for the inconvenience.

I still moved this to platformers because that's basically what Mega Man is. By that logic I also couldn't put Final Fantasy in the role playing section. I have only played 1 game of the Battle Network series and 2 of the Zero series.. So my list is far from accurate. 1. Mega Man X4: I never could've though this game was going to be this good. But it is. I love it. It was the first game where Zero was fully playable (I'm not counting X3, because it's not really a smart thing to do) and.. I have basically mastered Zero's gameplay. It also has some of the best Mavericks. Too bad that after this game, it pretty much went down (the games were not bad, just of lesser quality.) 2. Mega Man 6: Good ol' six. Out of the classic series, it's my favorite. They had 5 games under their belt so it's a given it's one of the better designed games. The challenge was just fine and it didn't feel that, whenever you lose, it's the game's fault. You just suck. And I love most of the Robot masters, especially Centy and Knight man. 3. Mega Man X3: Yeah, I prefer X3 over the other SNES games. I don't know, there were just so many power ups to collect, and it still had Zero playable, even if it wasn't smart to do. 4. Mega Man Zero 2: I'm currently playing this game, so I can't judge on it completely, neither can I about the games that came after. But I love it, and Zero is basically my favorite character to play as, even if he doesn't follow the Mega Man formula. 5. Mega Man 2/X: Tough choice so have them both. Both of them have an equally high reputation for being fantastic games.

Don't know if I would call it my favorite, but it's pretty good. And it's currently the song I listen to most soo... hai. MorepeopleneedtoplayTalesgamesplsdoit. And even though Sword Art Online is just an average anime... they know how to make some pixel perfect openings, both animationwise and songwise. [media=]http://youtu.be/jkkAR08HB7c

Good job Skye! That's going to be very useful for newcomes (: -
Bye guys, I'm leaving the internet. I've been challenged to do the ALS Ice Bucket challenge.
-
People throwing buckets full of icy water over their head for charity. Yeah, I don't get the point either since, if people do the challenge, they don't donate. Don't think I'm even going to join this hype.
