  1. When I first heard this, I was honestly kinda surprised. Granted, 'Shattered Crystal' was the far better of the two original games (don't ever get me started on 'Rise of Lyric') but both games sold terribly (literally the worst-selling Sonic games ever) so the fact that it's getting a sequel seems odd.

I'd imagine that this game, along with the new 'Mario and Sonic', will be a kind of 'placeholder' to buy some time until the next big game for Sonic's big 25th is ready. Still, if there's one thing I hope they've changed for 'Fire and Ice', it's different writers. Please, no more Pontac and Graff...

  2. Blaze was alerted to a pirate attack on the island, but certainly didn't expect the Nega-Droids when she opened the door. "What? I thought--" she muttered, before getting shot by a Nega-Droid. However, when the droid got closer to inspect... a great burst of flames incinerated the robot in an instant! Using the power of the Sol Emeralds, Blaze had transformed into Burning Blaze! With the extra firepower, she made quick work of the droids around the village. "Gather the Royal Guards! Protect the village!" she ordered to the guards already there. "I know what they're coming for..." Blaze said, before blasting off towards the Royal Treasury.

Meanwhile, Captain Metallix had taken out the guards, opting to use brute force instead. "It appears this treasury'll be needing some new guards." he said, ordering his batch of Nega-Droids to 'take their place'. He then said, "If you detect anything, shoot it!" As Metallix began to pry the chambers open, one droid detected someone nearby. The other droids then immediately opened fire at Johnny. As Burning Blaze flew towards the treasury, she spotted Captain Whisker along the way. She then shouted towards him, "Whisker! I should've guessed you'd be behind this attack! Any last words before you burn for what you've done?"

  3. Still roaming the desert, Shadow Man took a break to reflect on recent events. "Ra Moon... Dr. Wily... it seems like all my masters follow the same fate." he said to himself. As the last surviving Kuiper Droid, he had to hope that his only remaining masters, the Stardroids, would eventually reach Earth and finish what Ra Moon started. "But... is that truly what I want? Dr. Rozner offered me a second... no, third chance at redemption." He was one of the first Wily-bots to refuse Rozner's assistance, but actually had doubts on both sides. After thinking about it longer, Shadow Man eventually came to a conclusion... but continued to roam the desert.

  4. Break Man looked back at Quick Man and asked him, "What are you even doing here? Trying to play 'hero' now?" As he turned his attention back to Tempo, he seemed a little worried. However, he quickly shrugged it off. Break Man then said to Tempo, "The police can deal with him now. You should get yourself repaired."

  5. On the way back to the lab, Fire Man spotted another Robot Master teleporting into the city. Although it seemed like someone they were familiar with, Fire Man knew that they didn't have time to chat. "Shouldn't be too far now, Guts Man." he said, as they started to head out of Mega City and towards Dr. Light's Lab.

  6. I must be stupid for not getting this, but can someone explain to me why shadow man stuck around? I didn't understand that.

In fairness, we don't exactly 'know' why he chose to stay active. One guess is that he's biding time for the Stardroids (his original masters, from 'Mega Man V') and might betray Mega Man then, but they never say that in the issue. Actually thinking about it more, what would Shadow Man be doing right now anyway? We know that the Robot Masters who didn't want to find a job had to be shut down by government law, yet Shadow Man stayed. So what kind of job/purpose would he have?

  7. Cool Gemerl makes a comeback. I wished they would've used him in Sonic X as well I mean he is like Emerl's brother right? But it's cool to see him in Worlds Unite as well.

Actually, Gemerl was a supposedly rebuilt version of Emerl, who was destroyed at the end of Sonic Battle. He appears as Eggman's lackey in Sonic Advance 3, but is defeated and rebuilt/reprogrammed by Tails to act like Emerl did back in his good days. He lives with Cream and Vanilla supposedly, but he hasn't been seen game-wise since his debut.

Gemerl is back so sega allow him for this crossover but something tell me he'll be destroy or badly damage because he was under the mind control of the deadly six or infected with the sigma virus or reprogram by dr.eggman and wily

I highly doubt that. They wouldn't bring him in if he's just gonna be destroyed so soon after. That's wasting character space. Maybe he'll tag along with the heroes, maybe he'll stay behind to protect Mobotropolis. Wait and see.

  8. Yeah, I don't know why they want to make Sonic Generations the cause of Worlds Collide in the current reality. It would mean that the events that damaged reality also happened in the new reality. But it doesn't make any sense, since the new reality didn't change at all. It would be like if DC's Crisis on Infinite Earths events that destroyed the multiverse also happened in the unified single universe. Doesn't make sense at all.

It makes sense. The only difference to the original Worlds Collide now is that it started after this continuity's version of Generations. And in this supposedly 'new' version of WC, Super Sonic is still interrupted by Eggman, the world still shatters, and the multiverse still recreates itself. Again, the old world is old news. The basic idea is to forget it ever happened in the old world.

Anyway, I enjoyed the issue. I'll post my full thoughts in the Worlds Unite thread.

  9. During Chi's interrogation in the Prime Zone...

Dr. Nega was sitting on his 'throne', secretly watching Chi being interrogated by Sonic and the Freedom Fighters. In truth, he had witnessed the whole event: everything from the initial attack on New Mobotropolis, to Xenon's temporary blackout, to the N-Forcers splitting up. "Grr... so much for 'staying hidden' and NOT letting them know!" he said, angry at how the team had played out their mission. "I give them one simple task, and they STILL fail! Why do I even bother?"

However, his mood changed when Chi's visuals displayed a hidden message:

[Target 'Anomaly' Injured Within New Mobotropolis Perimiter -- Primary Weaknesses Discovered -- Enemy 'Sonic' Has Vital Information On 'Project: Genesis']

As this was displayed, the recording continued, showing Sonic recalling the past events that resulted in worlds colliding. "So, THAT'S where the anomaly's from!" said Dr. Nega, ecstatically looking at the unopened door. He continued, "Ah, I could always count on you to bring me the information, Chi..." Nega then noticed the recordings with Omega. "Maybe this little 'side-switch' game you're playing on the heroes will pay off after all! Hehehe!" he said, laughing. "Well, this was fun to watch, but I should check on the others..." said Dr. Nega, remembering that Captain Metallix and the other N-Forcers were still busy. As he turned his attention to Xenon and Darkspine's location, he soon got bored, saying "Hmm... a tournament? Why are they wasting their time at--?" but stopped once he heard about a Chaos Emerald. "Really? Risking exposure to nab a mystical jewel of unlimited power? ...I like it!" said Nega, deciding to let them continue undisturbed. Finally, he switched to Metallix, and saw his raid on Southern Island. "...You blew it, Metallix. She'll find you, and she'll incinerate you. No amount of shiny, heat-proof armour will stop that!" he said to himself, unhappy with Metallix's direct approach. "And all because you HAD to beat your little adversary." Nega then noticed Johnny approaching Metallix's location via one of the Nega-Droids' cameras. "Well then, let's see how you deal with them..." he said, grinning.

  10. Chi answered Sally, "That, I truly do not know. My master gave me the mission, and that was it. Although..." He then went quiet for a moment, but eventually continued, "...If there is one thing I can possibly tell you about my master, is that you all share a common enemy." Sonic knew who Chi was most likely referring to, but it didn't help him guess who his 'master' was. "Well, looks like you've still got a head..." he said to Chi, jokingly. Sonic then noticed Omega coming back. He turned to Sally and asked, "Well, Sal? Think we can get anything else outta him before his 'big bro' comes to pick him up?"

  11. As Captain Metallix began to approach Southern Island, he spotted Whisker's ship ahead of his. "So, ol' Whisker be trying to plunder me prize first, I see? Well, let's change that!" he said, angry that his rival got there before him. He headed to the lower deck of his ship and activated the Nega-Droids. Metallix then gave his orders: "All units, begin the assault!" Then a large access hatch opened above them, and the droids launched out of the ship and towards Southern Island. As they got closer, the droids split into three groups. One group targeted Whisker's crew, firing at them with their laser guns, while another went across the island, spreading chaos by attacking the village. The final group, led by Metallix himself, headed straight towards the Royal Treasury and aimed their weapons at the guards. Metallix then said to the guards, "I suggest ye open these gates, before your village is burned to ashes!" However, they were still reluctant to open the gateway inside.

  12. Break Man blocked the Quick Boomerang with his shield, and raised his Buster Arm. "And yet you cared enough to try and protect another robot," he said to Quick Man. "Let the man leave, while he can still move." He then turned his attention to the injured Tempo, and asked her, "Your arm... how bad is the damage?"

  13. Suddenly, a familiar whistle could be heard in the wind, as Break Man fired a warning shot at Quick Man from above the building. He then jumped down and said to Quick Man, "You quite finished beating that man to near death? I thought you would've changed after leaving Dr. Wily's service."

  14. "It was a while ago, back when you were still roboticized, Sal." Sonic said, as he started recalling the events. "Ol' Egghead tried to pull another Genesis Wave reboot on the world, but this time he was working with another Doc." Chi seemed intrigued by what Sonic was mentioning, and said, "Another Doctor? As in, from a different world?" Sonic nodded saying, "Right, but not just any old 'other Sonic' world. It had these robot kids, and we teamed up to stop the docs from changing the world permanently." He then thought to himself, 'Sheesh, the more I talk about this, the more I'm starting to remember what happened.'

At this point, Chi was starting to wonder what his master would want with a robot from an entirely different dimension. As he began to piece the puzzle together, he realised something. "Tell me, how did you cross between these worlds?" he asked Sonic, who replied, "I think Eggman was using Warp Rings to send his minions to each world." Chi then asked, "Do you have these Warp Rings?" But Sonic just replied "Heh, getting interested, are ya? Well, you're outta luck."

  15. If there's anything I hope can be salvaged from this, I'd like it if they could still use 'Boom' as another zone in the multiverse. I know they're not really exploring the whole 'alternate universes' thing in the comic since the reboot (which makes some sense) but an occasional revisit in the main series and/or universe would be nice.

EDIT: Confirmed to end after Issue #11 by Archie Comics themselves, but the 'Boom' universe will still be used in the other books. Just as I hoped! ;)

  16. Sad news, guys. A recent update on Issue 11's solicitation reveals something that you may find disappointing: (I've highlighted it so you can spot it easier)

(Written by Sam Sandak Freilberger, art by Rick Bryant, Diana Skelly, covers by Diana Skelly, SEGA)

Follow up after the "Worlds Unite" crossover with a BOOM in this explosive final issue! "Eggman Gets a Gorilla": When Dr. Eggman's regular robotic enforcers just can't cut the mustard, he hires some additional help! (Because, seriously, how hard is it to cut mustard?) Introducing the mighty, Kyle the Gorilla! Is he really the next Ape wonder of the world? Or will Sonic get yet another reason to point and laugh? You'll be pointing and laughing too with the concluding issue of Sonic Boom!

Yep, Issue 11 will be the very last issue of Sonic Boom. I'm upset to see it go so soon, but at least we'll be getting the Worlds Unite issues before it ends.

  17. I think I'll take Captain Whisker and Johnny.

YES! Finally, we might be able to continue the Sol Zone story. Just as a reminder, Captain Whisker and Johnny (along with other robot pirates like Swash and Buckle) have left Dr. Nega's service after Captain Metallix replaced them. They'll likely be roaming the seas right now, though I'm sure the two Captains will cross paths soon.

  18. Fire Man said, "Oh, they'll face the Flames of Justice for this!" though he realised that they couldn't locate the goons responsible. "But right now, we gotta focus on getting him back to the lab. Guts Man, you carry him. I'll follow ya," he said. "Cut Man, can you teleport back and tell whoever's there what happened?"

  19. Chi acknowledged Omega, then turned back to Sally. "Actually, yes. My master believes that he is not from here," he said to her, "Not of this world entirely, thus he is likely an anomaly in space-time." Sonic then interrupted Chi, saying, "Come to think of it, his design did look kinda familiar..." then suddenly he had a brief flash of past memories. Chi asked Sonic, "You seem shocked. Do you know the anomaly?" Sonic replied, "No, but I have a feeling I know where he's from."

  20. I don't normally do this for regular issues, but since this is a special occasion, here's my summary of the story:

We open on Earth 21XX (sometime either during or after Mega Man X7), as the Maverick Hunters (including X, Zero and Axl) are about to storm Sigma's current base. X is knocked off his Ride Chaser by Vile (looking as he did in X1) but Zero and Axl fend him off (this'll probably be seen fully in 'WU Battles: Mega Man') so X can continue inside. Meanwhile, Sigma (in virus form) hoped that he had more time to scout his destination (the Lost Hex), but isn't worried since Eggman has already abused the Zeti there. X enters and confronts Sigma, but he just laughs and mentions his "command of worlds is only just beginning", disappearing through the Genesis Portal above him.

As X wonders where Sigma escaped to, we cut to Sonic's World in the Green Hill Zone (...again). Sonic runs down a broken chunk of the planet and rescues a Flicky, as well as another shard of the Master Emerald. He thinks to himself about getting the last Chaos Emerald so that things can be peaceful once more, not noticing a Genesis Portal opening in the distance. Meanwhile on Earth 20XX, Mega Man and Elec Man bring back power to Light Labs after the recent events there. Guts Man mentions that he and Concrete Man are almost finished, but need more materials. Rock agrees to go into town and fetch some, but Roll thinks he should take someone with him. He says that he'll be fine since Wily's 'dead' and the Emerald Spears are locked up (there's also a funny line about him getting pulled over once for looking like a kid while driving) and drives off, also not noticing a Genesis Portal in the distance.

We then cut to Eggman's base on the Lost Hex, as he mentions what's happened recently in an audio-log: it's revealed that he wanted to build a base here to get a new perspective on the Shattered World Crisis, and also conquered the Deadly Six there with the Cacophonic Conch. He then got them to build his base there, but didn't count on Orbot suddenly smashing the conch, and DEFINATELY didn't count on him actually being possesed by Sigma (hence his purple eyes in SU #75; that was Sigma). Eggman's then ordered to build Sigma a new body. He does so, creating 'Sigma-1' (with a design resembling Zavok) and is then told that he isn't finished building things yet. Eggman naturally objects, until Zavok 'persuades' him, instead saying that he needs an assisstant to help him (and to secretly work with to escape). Sigma says he knows just the guy...

He then opens a Genesis Portal, and pulls Dr. Wily out from it (as seen at the end of MM #49). This is where we learn that Eggman (and maybe Sonic too) remembers the events of 'Worlds Collide', as he still hates Wily (who has pretty much NO idea what's going on at all). Sigma then orders Zavok to take the two doctors to a Prison Egg. In there, Eggman explains to Wily that he has a plan that could make fools out of Sigma, Sonic AND Mega Man. That last name is all Wily needs to hear to be on-board. The next day, the doctors are converting Eggman's badnik assembly line to create Mechaniloids (the mooks in MMX) and building armour pieces for the Deadly Six that enhances their abilities. Eggman notes that the armour has a built-in trap incase the Zeti get out of hand, but they also need Sonic and Mega Man to stop Sigma, while also not getting in THEIR way.

As Eggman and Wily take a break, Zavok gloats about his new armour... by immediately trying to control Sigma. But while his body seems to be down, Sigma himself isn't controlled and he activates the built-in traps, placing the Zeti under Sigma's full control. (Wow, that was quick!) He uses this as a warning to the doctors, and tells them to start working on the 'Unity Engines' immediately. This is when Eggman and Wily begin their plan, telling Sigma about their worlds' heroes and how they'll very likely stop Sigma's plan unless dealt with. Sigma's open to suggestions, and they suggest a preemptive strike using the Deadly Six and the Genesis Portals. Then, once they're both captured, Sigma can use them to install the Unity Engines for him.

During this, we cut back to Sonic and Mega Man as the Deadly Six (still possesed) appear from the Genesis Portals mentioned earlier; Zavok, Zeena and Zor take on Sonic; Zomom, Zazz and Master Zik confront Mega Man. (The full battles will be shown in the Battle Books.) Back on the Lost Hex, Sigma gloats to himself, wishing for X to see how far he's come. He even mentions that he now has the 'traditional' 8 commanders: The Deadly Six, and soon Sonic and Mega Man. As Sigma notes that the last two are still in the process of being 'recruited', he admits that he's excited for the doctors' plan and asks how it's going. Eggman and Wily tell him that it's nearly complete, and to wait to see what they turn the blue heroes into. (Of course, we already know what they'll become, but still.)

This was a good start to the crossover, though like the last one, it's mostly just setup for later on. Eggman was enjoyable to watch, as was Wily, even though he's practically clueless on anything that's happening. Still, it should give them a new angle to work with after 'Worlds Collide' ended with them as bitter enemies. It's a shame we didn't see too much of Sonic or Mega Man in this issue, but I'm sure we'll get a lot more later on. Besides, it'll likely give readers more time to know about Sonic's Freedom Fighters, Mega Man's Robot Master brothers, and definately the Maverick Hunters for the next couple of issues. Speaking of, I'm pretty sure next issue will focus on what X and Co. have been doing, since they only appeared at the beginning of this issue. And it's certainly gonna involve a certain paranoid badger.

  21. "Right, thanks." Xenon said to the attendant, and the two proceeded to head over to the main game floor. On the way, Darkspine noticed a dark-blue hedgehog with sunglasses acting suspicious, but just dismissed it. Once there, they spotted some of their competition, namely a crocodile and... "Shadow?!" Xenon said, staying out of sight from his 'twin'. Darkspine knew that Xenon hated Shadow for constantly being compared to him, especially after what happened at New Mobotropolis earlier. Darkspine asked Xenon, "Er... maybe you should sit this one out?" but Xenon replied, "Oh, no. I'm not losing my chance to prove myself as superior to him!"
